Richard Griffiths is an English actor with a truly Dickensian destiny. In addition to his non-Hollywood appearance, he also had to overcome poverty and misunderstanding. But incredible acting talent helped this actor overcome all the troubles and achieve well-deserved success. He is appreciated by both young spectators and venerable connoisseurs of cinema and theater, his manner of play is inimitable, and the passion with which he relates to life is worthy of respect.
Richard Griffiths was born on July 31, 1947 in Stockton, England. His parents were deaf, so the boy at a very early age learned the language of deaf mutes. This skill later helped him to portray different ways of speaking. Young Richard lived in extreme poverty, so at the age of 15 he decided to quit school and get a job as a doorman. His boss persuaded the young man to return to training, and even helped him get a job in acting courses in Manchester.
In the same city, Griffiths got a job in the theater, where he immediately began to receive leading roles. His first film was This Shouldn't Have Happened to a Veterinarian (1975), and he became famous after Gorky Park (1982). He is also known for the films King Ralph (1991), Protecting Tess (1994), Sleepy Hollow (1999) and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005). But, of course, the most popular he brought the role of Vernon Dursle in the serial Harry Potter saga (2001, 2002, 2004, 2007, 2010).
Richard Griffiths is not only famous for his rare acting talent, for which he received numerous awards, most notably the Order of the British Empire in 2008. This person is known for his complex character, for example, playing in the theater, he can easily kick the audience out of the hall for the fact that his mobile phone rang.
The actor has been married for 17 years, his wife is Heather Gibson, and she has nothing to do with film or theater. /
