No one expects much from Christy Brown, a boy with cerebral palsy born into a working-class Irish family. “BBC: LSD is an Inner Lawlessness” is a BBC film dedicated to the potent narcotic substance LSD, which is also a mysterious and controversial drug and makes scientists around the world constantly argue about its properties. A serving of LSD, much smaller than a grain of salt, sends a person on a mental cruise full of risks, into a universe of hallucinations, mystical revelations and spiritual unrest. For the first time the properties of the drug interested scientist-chemist Albert Hofmann back in 1943. For half a century, LSD has been used in various psychiatric clinics for research. Already in the 60s, LSD leaked from scientific laboratories and began to pose a serious danger to entire generations of young people. close

Author Melvyn Bragg accompanies the painter throughout his day. This begins in his London atelier, leads us on to his favourite pub and ends up in gambling club in Soho. close
