Born in Chittenango, New York. He worked in the newspaper, was the editor of a commercial magazine. In 1899 he published his first book “Fairy Tales of Uncle Gusak”, and a year later saw the light of the famous story “The Wizard of Oz” (known in Russia by the retelling of A. M. Volkov under the name “The Wizard of the Emerald City”. In total, Liman F. Brown wrote 14 stories about the country of Oz.
