American comedian Richard Pryor was born on December 1, 1940 in Peoria. His childhood was... let’s say diverse. His grandmother owned several brothels, his mother was a prostitute, his father a pimp, which did not prevent them from growing sonlike, polite and religious.
Richard discovered quite early that it was better to defend not with fists, but by making the opponent laugh. Having earned a reputation as a local clown, Pryor entered the local amateur theater at the age of fourteen. In 1963, he went to New York, where he worked as a comedian in a black nightclub, later managed to break into television shows and even starred in the film The Busy Body.
After one not-so-successful performance - Pryor allowed himself the wrong words that he wanted to hear - he was kicked out of all the shows. Richard disappeared from show business for a long time, and when he returned, he completely decided to get rid of political correctness. Oddly enough, his popularity has only grown. And not only among the "black" audience, his albums willingly bought white youth. But Hollywood was not yet ready to embrace it. The only field of activity for Pryor was cable television.
In the early '80s, Pryor was at the pinnacle of success when an accident occurred - he set himself on fire. After recovering, he joked about his death game, but his sketches changed. By 1990, it became apparent that Richard was very ill, despite the efforts of his friends to support him.
