Nathan Lane (real name Joseph Lane) was born in Jersey on February 3, 1956. When he was 11 years old, his father, a truck driver, died of alcoholism. Two of his older brothers helped the future actor get on stage. After several rather successful roles, Nathan took part in the play "80 Days Around the World", playing his first comic character, and after that he could not imagine his life without acting. In 1974, he graduated from St. Peter’s Preparatory School, won a scholarship from the University of Philadelphia to continue his education. However, the scholarship was too small to be a student for 5 years. Therefore, the future actor returned to his hometown, where he changed many professions. At the age of 22, Lane came up with his pseudonym, under which he is known all over the world, in order to join the Actors Guild, where one Joseph Lane was already listed. The name "Nathan" he borrowed from the hero of the classic Broadway play "Guys and Dolls", in which he played a very noticeable role for the public and critics. Since then, Lane has become a fairly famous person in show business, whose multifaceted talent is manifested in stories and scripts, music albums, television and movie characters. Perhaps his most famous work is the voice of Timon in the Disney cartoon The Lion King. According to the rating of the magazine Entertainment Magazine, Nathan Lane ranks 48th in the list of the funniest people of our time. Now the actor is a star of Hollywood, Broadway and television at the same time, and critics believe that Lane has not yet reached the zenith of his fame.
