Randy Edelman is an American composer and author of music for film and television. Edelman was born on June 10, 1947 in Patterson, New Jersey. There he grew up, graduated from the Cincinnati Conservatory, and then went to New York, where he played the piano in Broadway orchestras. Before moving to Los Angeles, where he began working in film, Randy released several solo albums.
One of the first films for which he wrote the soundtrack, was the 1973 crime thriller “Performance” about the conspiracy around the assassination of John F. Kennedy. The composer later collaborated extensively with director and producer Ivan Reitman, the creator of Ghostbusters, with whom he produced several films, including Ghostbusters 2. Other films for which Andy wrote music include “The Mask”, “Beethoven”, “While You Were Sleeping”, “Anaconda”, “Son of the Mask”.
