Receiving an invitation from Columbia Pictures as part of a gifted actor program, Jesse Nelson moved to Los Angeles, where she began acting in film and television. On the other side of the camera, she first appeared as a director of the documentary “My First Time”, thanks to which she was accepted into the prestigious program of AFI “Shantekler”. In 1994, Jesse Nelson directed her first feature film, Corrina, Corrina, with Whoopi Goldberg in the title role. Her screenplays included Stepmother (1998), starring Susan Sarandon and Julia Roberts, and The Story of Us (1999), with Bruce Willis and Michelle Pfeiffer. In 2001, Jesse Nelson staged the melodrama I Am Sam, in which she invited Michelle Pfeiffer and Sean Penn to star.
