Anthony M. LaPaglia. Anthony LaPaglia was born on 31 January 1959 in Adelaide, Australia. He worked as a schoolteacher in his native Australia, then moved to New York, deciding to play in the theater.
After three or four years in the theater, he was invited to star in the television movie Frank Nitti: The Performer (1988). LaPaglia continued to work on television until he was invited to star in James Ivory’s 1989 film Slaves of New York.
Anthony LaPaglia became widely known after Alan Alda’s comedy Betsy’s Wedding (1990), where he played the nephew of a mafia boss.
