Dylan McDermott was born on October 26, 1962 in Waterbury, Connecticut, USA. There he grew up under the supervision of his grandmother, having already moved as a teenager to his father, the owner of a small New York bar in Grinich Village. Dylan McDermott met the theater thanks to stepmother Eve Ensler, a successful playwright. She also inscribed a role in her play for a seventeen-year-old stepson, thereby marking the beginning of his stage career. McDermot then studied drama at Fordham University in New York, after which he joined the Neighborhood Playhouse. In the Broadway production of Biloxi Blues (1985), he was spotted by an agent and signed with him. Soon the young actor made his film debut in the Vietnam War film Hamburger Hill (1987). However, after relatively good luck in the drama Steel Magnolias (1989), where he played the husband of Julia Roberts (with whom he was having an affair at the time), Dylan McDermot played in B-movies for several years. Having not received a role in Jurassic Park from Steven Spielberg, he starred as Clint Eastwood's unhappy partner in the action movie In the Line of Fire (1993), without getting lost next to venerable actors. Subsequent films, with the exception of Jodie Foster’s love film Home for the Holidays (1995) with Helen Hunt, were not very successful. It is hoped that working on television in the series “Practice” will give the young actor a new impetus, as happened to John Clooney after the success of “Emergency”.
