Michael J. Pollard was born on May 30, 1939, and first appeared on television in the TV series Many Loves of Dobie Gillis. At first, they were even going to replace one of the characters, but then the actor who played the role returned, and Pollard was pointed at the door.
Michael went on to star in the musical film Bye Bye Birdie in 1961, and the following year made his big screen debut in Hemingway's Adventures of a Young Man. For the role of Moss in the film Bonnie and Clyde, Pollard was nominated for an Oscar.
In all films, as in television series, Pollard tended to play different versions of the same character: a male boy standing one step away from the real world, a kind of leprechaun. The audience was a little tired of monotony. Pollard got tired of playing the same thing. As a result, Michael is no longer listed among movie stars, plays a little bit of episodic roles. Occasionally, he is brought back to the starry sky, but he is not too comfortable there.
But it was in his honor that another male boy, Michael J. Fox, took the pseudonym.
