The birthplace of Valery Konstantinovich is the city of Kamyshin (now the Volgograd region), here he was born on July 15, 1942, his father was a career officer. After his father was sent to serve in Moldova, the whole family moved to Dubossary. After graduating from school (and Valery graduated with a silver medal), the young man became a student of the B. Shchukin Theater School.
For the first time on the theatrical stage Babyatinsky came out as a student: then on the stage of the Maly Theatre staged a production of “Woe from Wit” and the aspiring artist was entrusted to play Chatsky.
After graduation, Valery organically joined the troupe of this oldest Russian theater. During the years of work in Maly, he played the power of original roles in the performances “Cherry Orchard”, “Uncle Vanya”, “Three Sisters”, “Seagull”, “Forest”, “Thunderstorm”, “Man Who Laughs”, “Ugly”, “Talents and Fans”, “Snow Queen”, “Maria Stewart”. It should be said that Chekhov’s characters with their difficult psychologism are especially successful in Babyatinsky.
His film debut took place in 1962, and wide fame Valery Babyatinsky owes the role of Dorian Gray in the film “Portrait of Dorian Gray”. Filmgoers and critics remember his work in the films “Two in the Steppe”, “Red Square”, “Seventeenth transatlantic”.
