Galina Yakovlevna Demina, known to the audience of the older generation for many films and TV series, was born in Nizhny Novgorod on December 5, 1925.
Even in her youth, Galina arranged home performances, often visited the cinema and admired the play of Vera Maretskaya and Lyubov Orlova. During the Great Patriotic War, Galina worked in the hospital and at the same time attended classes in the pop and circus school.
In 1947, Galina Demina graduated from the studio of the Gorky Theatre of Drama and was hired. Her first roles were performed with amazing skill, despite the fact that she played male heroes. It was Stepka from the play “Courage”, Radik Yurkin from “Young Guard” and a dozen more roles. Later, she began to create more complex images, participating in productions of “The Humiliated and the Aggrieved”, “Admiral’s Flag”, “There Was an Old Man with an Old Woman”.
1971 for Galina Demina was creatively successful. It was then that her theater went on tour to Moscow with the play "My heart is with you." The actress played the role of Nastasia, striking the director Boris Ravensky with her play. After that, she got into the Maly Theatre, playing a large number of roles full of organic “folk”, pronounced national character and naturalness. She was able to convey in all colors the provincial life, which is described in many plays by Ostrovsky, making the images authentic and realistic.
Achieving great success in the theater, Galina Demina starred in films. The best roles performed by her relate to paintings.
"Wormwood is bitter grass" (1982) and Carousel on the Market Square (1986). In both melodramas she showed the full power of her talent and acting charisma.
Galina Demina until the last days came out on the stage. On October 6, 2005, she played in the play “Wolves and Sheep” based on Ostrovsky’s work, and two days later she died. /
