Jean Harlow (Harlin Harlow Carpenter, Jean Harlow) - American film actress, sex symbol of the 30s and movie star - was born on March 3, 1911 in Kansas City, USA, in the family of a dentist Carpenter and the daughter of a wealthy real estate broker Jean Poe. Harlin spent her childhood in a large and beautiful mansion of her grandmother.
In 1916, the girl was sent to Miss Barstow School. This private school was very famous in Kansas City. In September 1922, the girl’s parents separated. The divorce was noisy and unpleasant: the mother sued the daughter from her husband and forever forbade him to meet the girl.
In 1923, Harlin and his mother moved to Hollywood. Jean Poe began to make serious plans, burning with the desire to act in films. However, the mother failed to break into the actress, and two years later she returned with her daughter to Kansas City.
In 1927, Harlin married nineteen-year-old Charles McGrew, heir to a large fortune. The young family moved to live in Los Angeles. In this huge and beautiful city, Harlin found a friend – an aspiring actress Rosalie Roy, thanks to her acquaintance with whom she very soon got on the set. Pretty, spectacular blonde attracted the attention of studio managers, and they offered the girl to try her hand.
In 1928, Jean Harlow made her film debut. In 1929, Harlow took part in the shooting of fourteen films, however, she got mostly small untitled roles. The audience remembered the actress in the comedy film “Saturday Night’s Child” and the short film “Twofold Oh”.
In 1929, Harlow's marriage broke up and she moved to live in her mother's home.
In the same year, the girl met the famous director Howard Hughes, who radically changed the life of the young actress. In October 1929, Jean Harlow signed a five-year contract with Hughes and began working. After filming in the movie “Hell’s Angels”, Jean’s career skyrocketed. It was this picture that brought the actress great success.
Next were the films “The Secret Six”, “Enemy of Society”, “Iron Man”, “Platinum Blonde”,
"Woman with red hair" "Red Dust" and others.
In June 1937, actress Jean Harlow died of cerebral edema at the age of 26.
