In the troupe of the Volkovo Theatre, which preserves the traditions of the Russian psychological school, Vadim Romanov, according to critics, always stood out for his penchant for eccentricity, sharp form, bright theatricality. “Romanov’s heroes cannot exist in everyday life. They are heroes of limit, excess, twist or scandal. They are called to doubt—love, children, faith, church, beauty, culture. Hamlet suddenly becomes a destroyer, he questions the feeling untouched by evil. Plays with evil in himself Platonov, cynically debunking everyone and everything, seeks, exposes, goes into all seriousness, drinks and ruins life. Transformation is the element of Romanov. In the theater, he was nicknamed Plasticine, the actor’s changeable clay son of the century. (Margarita Vanyashova. "Dreams of Hamlet about Lenin, Shvonder and General Mikhalych, or features of the national benefit" // "Golden Ring", March 11, 1999. Tsarevich Alexei Vadima Romanov is another convincingly unconventional interpretation of the image. This Alexis is the son of his father. Would Alexei dare or would not dare to lead the conspiracy without his conspirators? The hero of V. Romanov would be daring! He is also the son of his mother... The match of equal opponents is presented by the Yaroslavl Theatre, perhaps for the first time on the Russian stage.
