When a young boy comes in to see a doctor abourt a red mark on his face, the doctor's wife welcomes him into the consulting room instead. As they talk, she offers him something to eat and then notes that his manner of eating is just like that of her previous husband, who died in prison many years earlier. It turns out that the young man had been his cell mate for a year, and he tells her the story of how her husband died. She then remembers (in flashbacks) how she had helped her first husband rid himself of his sexual repression, and how she had promised him she would marry her current husband if she were widowed. It seems her doctor-husband was a man who could remain untouched through any political climate, and was much admired by her first husband. Now that her memories have been awakened by the young man's account, she ignores the repeated phone calls of her current husband and decides to rid this young man of his own sexual repressions. close

Set amid the European community in an unspecified North African country, a colony on the verge of nationalism just before the war. And colonized is what happens to a French diplomat, Julien Rochelle, when he meets the mysterious beauty Clothilde de Watteville. Schmid 's favorite axiom, that love is projection, never had such a thorough airing. Is Clothilde really the wife of a French official now holed up in Siberia? Or is she Hecate, goddess of black magic and devourer of the Arab boys she meets far from the European quarter? Only our projections know for sure; for the rest, she is a "woman looking out into the night." Drawn from a novel by Paul Morand, who based the main character on his wife Helene, Schmid's film achieves an atmosphere of magic in which psychological credibility is not so much absent as irrelevant-a film that distances itself from the drama it invokes, perhaps as the elusive Clothilde turns her back on the madness she provokes. close

It was a private hike in the mountains. Ordinary tourists, unprepared for the difficult trials that may lurk in the mountains, set off from the mountainous southern tourist base along a well-studied route, along which tens of thousands of people have already passed for many years. And none of the members of that group paid much attention to the alarming storm warning.
When a snowstorm suddenly hit the tourists on the mountain pass, the situation began to quickly get out of control. Caught by bad weather by surprise, people were trapped - a strong wind fell from their feet, white haze covered everything around, prickly snow blinded their eyes. It was impossible to return back, to go forward – there was not enough strength, there was nowhere to hide. There was a panic. In the most difficult situation in which the heroes of the film “Storm Warning” found themselves, as in no other, the best and worst qualities of those who went on that ill-fated campaign were manifested. A trek that has become a test of resilience and courage, a journey in which everyone has made their own moral choices.
The film “Storm Warning” is based on real events – the tragedy on the tourist route near Mount Fisht, which occurred in September 1975, when 21 tourists from a group of 53 people died. This dramatic story became the basis for the essay “Tornado” Arkady Waxberg Later, in a slightly modified version, based on the script of this film. close
