The short film by the Soviet and then Ukrainian director Nikolai Mashchenko is based on the story by Alexander Serafimovich, which takes place during the Great Patriotic War. A Soviet soldier rushes to the train with a small blonde girl in his arms. This train should evacuate children from the orphanage to the rear. However, the train leaves without waiting, and four-year-old Tanya finds herself in the frontline position of our troops.
Light and shadows
Not indifferent to the fate of the child soldiers decide to independently deliver the girl to the nearest station. Having set off on a dangerous path, they cross the river and go deep into the forest. Tanya obediently passes from one hand to the other, falls asleep on the soldiers' shoulders, and sometimes she is lowered to the ground so that the girl rests from the journey "above".
