A documentary by a special correspondent! Directorate of information broadcasting NTV Alexei Pobortsev. The war in Chechnya began ten years ago, and the question of the causes of this fateful event is still open. Alexei Pobortsev’s film is an attempt to get closer to understanding the “Chechen problem”, to find the origins of the terrible war. The film includes unique testimonies of the participants of the events of those years and interviews with politicians and generals - with those who made the main decisions, on whom depended, how the situation around Chechnya would develop. One of the key figures of the time - Dzhokhar Dudayev - appears before us in the memories of people who are well acquainted with the rebellious general. The film uses footage from private archives never before shown on television. Episode 1. Why did everything swing... The declaration on the state sovereignty of Chechnya was adopted under the communist leadership of the republic. And no one in Moscow or Grozny imagined how independence would turn out. In 1991, retired General Dzhokhar Dudayev was elected president of Chechnya. In the same year, the federal government attempted to declare a state of emergency. Meanwhile, after the robbery of the secret downturns of UT, the supporters of the new president fall into the hands of weapons and ammunition for an entire regiment. Episode 2. The number of Russian banks in Chechnya in different ways received billions of rubles. With this money, Dudayev created his own armed forces. This army had no problems with ammunition - the weapons of the former Soviet army fell into the hands of the separatists. Moscow did not notice or pretend that nothing was happening. In the end, an attempt was made to resolve the situation. Episode 3. New Year’s Eve, the assault on Grozny, the tragedy of the Maikop Brigade, the Dudayev regime is gaining strength. Russian refugees from Chechnya talk about rampant crime and violence. Moscow, concerned about what is happening, decides to start a war - of all possible options chosen the most brutal way. The film contains unique testimonies of participants of the Security Council meeting, which decided to start hostilities. Then the fate of thousands of people was decided in 10 minutes1 during the break. But no one could imagine the consequences of the introduction of troops. Episodes 4 and 5. The first Chechen company lasted almost two years. A bloody war whose aims are not understood by ordinary people. The presidential election was approaching. In order to stay in the presidency, Yeltsin had to stop the war. How they tried to do it, tells the two serial film "Beyond the war. Khasavyurt." The first attempts to negotiate with the separatists. Meeting in the Kremlin and Yeltsin’s trip to Ch1echko, where he was preparing an assassination attempt. Why, despite the negotiations, the militants captured Grozny? How were the Khasavyurt agreements signed? This is reported by 1 direct participants and witnesses. close
