In 1923-1926 he worked in Soyuzpechat, then in the All-Union Photo Film Department. In the cinema began the director and ass. Director on / st "Mosfilm" in the groups of B. Yurtsev ("Love of Alena", "Ball and Heart"), G. Alexandrov ("Volga-Volga"). He directed the chronicle-doc. film “Red Crimea” (1927). In 1932 he graduated from the directorial faculty of GIK (now VGIK). Director, worked on / st "Mosfilm". Honored Worker of Arts of the RSFSR (1954). Laureate of the USSR State Prize (1951).
