Maximilian Schell was born on December 8, 1930. He graduated from the Zurich Drama Studio and studied art history and philosophy. Schell worked in German theaters and began acting in films in 1955. The actor is known for his dramatic roles in the films “Marriage of Doctor of Medicine Danwitz”, “Young Lions”, “Nuremberg Trials”, “Recluses of Altona”. Shell also starred in many European and American films, worked on television, including in historical productions of Peter the Great and Young Catherine.
