In 1984, Michael Riley graduated from the National Theatre School in Montreal. During his studies, he began to play on the stage of theaters. One of his first works was a play called You Can't Take It with You (1988). Since then, he has played extensively and received a nomination for the Dora Mavor Moore Award in the Best Actor category four times in six years.
In 1987, Riley made his film debut, playing a role in the film No Man's Land. He appeared mainly in independent films. Examples include Diplomatic Immunity, Mustard Bath and Pale Saints. For his last work, he was nominated for a Genie Award. Riley also starred in The Hopeville Murder in 2001, Knockout and The Road to Nowhere.
Michael Riley also appeared in television series and movies. Among the works with his participation are the series “Chasing a Rainbow”, the film “Harvard homeless” and “Catch a Killer”.
