He was born on July 11 (23), 1898 at the Izrailovka station of Mogilev province. He began his stage activity in Zhmerinka (Vinnytsia region) in 1921. He joined the troupe of the Kiev Theatre of Russian Drama in 1924. On the prestigious Ukrainian stage, he quickly won the sympathy of the public in the roles of Satin ("At the bottom"), Koshkin ("Love Spring"), Iago ("Othello"), King ("Hamlet"). In 1931 he moved to Moscow, worked for Korsch. In 1933-1983 – actor of the Moscow Art Theatre. In the cinema - since 1930, the first role - master Zhuchenko in the film by L.Frenkel "My boyfriend" ("Builders"). In the film “Dream” along with the magnificent actors F. Ranevskaya, E. Kuzmina, A. Voitsik, R. Plyatt, M. Astangov, V. Solovyov Mikhail Balduman shines in the role of Mr. Dombek.
In 1973, especially “Balduman” was staged in the Moscow Art Theatre romantic play “The Dream of Mind”, where he played Francisco Goya. In 1974 - Rainer in "Solo for watches with combat".
People's Artist of the USSR (1965).
Winner of the Stalin Prize (1946, twice; 1950 - for theatrical works).
He died on December 28, 1983.
