He is a well-known American DJ, producer and founder of Dim Mak Records. He began his first musical experiments while studying at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he graduated from Sociology and Women’s Studies (it’s scary to think what they are taught there!). There he began creating his first music, holding underground parties in his apartments and playing in various gangs. He soon had his own label, named Bruce Lee Dim Mak (meaning Death Touch). This label became famous for the fact that it was there that British neo-pop stars Bloc Party began their careers, and now he releases music The Bloody Beetroots, Klaxons, Scanners, Whitey, The Kills, The Gossip, MSTRKRFT and Mystery Jets. Dim Mak is gradually turning into a kind of mini-empire with its own stars, parties and even a clothing line. Together with Blake Miller of the Los Angeles band Moving Units, he founded Weird Science, which has released several remixes on Snoop Dog, Peaches, Bloc Party, Under The Influence Of Giants and Young Love. However, Steve Aoki recently decided to pursue a solo career and released his first remix under his own name on Duran Duran’s “Skive Dive.” He also contributed to the track "1967" for Junkie XL's new album and released his first compilation, "Pillowface and His Airplane Chronicles".
