The Roman gladiator Spartacus at the beginning of a new era managed to stage such a grandiose uprising that two thousand years later it is not forgotten. The series “Spartacus’ Second Rebellion” tells a story based on real facts, the protagonist of which also boldly spoke out against the oppression and violence of the entire system.
Spartak Kotlyarevsky dreamed of a peaceful life with his beloved woman, but the war did not allow these dreams to come true. The military biography of the pilot was so ornate that in August 1941 he even took part in the bombing of Berlin. However, instead of the Hero Star, Spartak ended up in a Soviet camp. Here, unable to bear the pain of the ongoing injustice and separation from his beloved, Kotlyarevsky follows in the footsteps of his famous namesake - organizes the second uprising of Spartak, a rebellion of prisoners, which was destined to become the largest in the history of Soviet correctional camps.
The series is based on the novel The Second Uprising of Spartak by Alexander Bushkov and Andrei Konstantin, which they created with the participation of Yevgeny Vyshenkov. close

Anne Frank: The Whole Story is a two-part mini-series based on the book Anne Frank: The Biography by Melissa Müller. The mini-series aired on ABC on May 20 and 21, 2001. The series starred Ben Kingsley, Brenda Blethyn, Hannah Taylor-Gordon, and Lili Taylor. Controversially, but in keeping with the claim made by Melissa Müller, the series asserts that the anonymous betrayer of the Frank family was the office cleaner, when in fact the betrayer's identity has never been established. A disagreement between the producers of the mini-series and the Anne Frank Foundation about validity of this and other details led to the withdrawal of their endorsement of the dramatization, which prevented the use of any quotations from the writings of Anne Frank appearing within the production. Hannah Taylor-Gordon received both Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominations for her performance as Anne Frank, while Ben Kingsley won a Screen Actor's Guild Award for his performance as Otto Frank, Anne's father. close
