The second part of the book by Lewis Carroll was not so many times filmed, unlike the first 'Alice in Wonderland' on which they began to shoot a movie as soon as the cinematography appeared, so the choice of adaptations of the second part is small, and in free access there is probably only the Soviet cartoon of 1982, continuing the film adaptation of the first part of 1981, and in both parts quite primitive animation that is unlikely to please modern children, spoiled by cool graphics and 3D. The latter is what is pretty enough in the dilogy about Alice, the first part of which was shot by the famous director Tim Burton, and in the second he also acted as a producer. And this is what irritates many in modern film adaptations of classics, which most often turn out to be excessively free, for which they get tumaks from conservatives, who will not prove that if there are old film adaptations that show word for word according to the book, then in new ones it is not necessary to do the same. As for specifically 'Alice in the Looking Glass', I am very glad that I watched it in the full hall, although I had to sit somewhere on the left, not in the middle - when I came, almost all the tickets were sold - it means that people go to such films, and it is right.
'Alice in Wonderland' 2010 is called '3D-miracle from Tim Burton', because he managed to turn a bizarre fairy tale into a chic fantasy-attraction, filled with colorful special effects and 3D-flights, which can not but please the eye of even a child, even an adult. In terms of the quality and quantity of 3D-effects, the continuation is noticeable ' passed' - there was not such a huge number of scenes, but you can not look at more beautiful 3D. But that’s just the technical side of the film, and it’s flawless. The plot again presents a lot of surprises and revealed secrets: we learn that the Red Queen, so fond of ordering everyone to cut off their heads, was once an ordinary girl crowned with a magical crown that planted evil in her head; and the Hatter Alice must be saved from him. It makes no sense to delve into the plot moves, since the film consists mainly of extreme scenes, each of which is breathtaking, and even if you have watched the special effects, and think that you will not be surprised by this, then the authors of this film will be able to amaze your imagination - in fantasy they will not refuse, a fairy tale from a thin book is again turned into an energetic attraction. It is possible that in ' Chronicles of Narnia' took an example from the second part of the fairy tale by Lewis Carroll: here Alice enters the fairy-tale world through a mirror, and in ' chronicles' children enter Narnia through a closet. Maybe the sequel loses to the first film in epicity, and there are not too many significant events, but you do not want to scold him for this at all, because the film looks in one breath. I respect the work of those who give us and our children such fabulous adventures. Great fantasy for all ages.
When I found out there was going to be a sequel to the beloved Berton Alice, I was happy. I followed the news. The day came when she came out and... There's been a lot of negative reviews. But I didn't care. I went to this movie anyway, though not immediately, but as an opportunity. And I have something to say.
I don’t understand why many people criticize this film. They say that because of the scandal with Depp, the film failed, but then it is completely nonsense. The film is good and quite interesting. Yeah, it's simple. But this is Alice from Disney, what did you expect to see? Something serious? Really? The picture in the film is bright, beautiful. This, by the way, distinguishes the film from the first part. It wasn't Tim Burton who filmed it. Well, the movie also has a great cast. Yeah, they overdo it. But again, it's Alice. Is that what you want or are you waiting for?
I laughed, smiled, and almost let down a tear. Though I knew it was going to be okay, it was Disney. I love these characters and I empathize with them. The film is pleased with the fact that we are explained a lot and show favorite characters in childhood. That's really cool. But there's one downside to me, which is that there are incredibly few Cheshire Cats and Absolems. I would like to see more of them on the screen.
I’m not going to say much about actors. I love Johnny Depp as the Hatter. Anne Hathaway as the White Queen is beautiful and irritating. Well, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen is great. But I'd like to mention Sacha Baron Cohen's character, Time. He is beautiful and steals every minute of his life on the screen. If there was no time, the movie would be a little worse. I was very happy to see Andrew Scott.
All right, I'll finish. After all, I would recommend this film. But only on the big screen and in 3D. Otherwise, many will find it boring for an amateur. Anyone who likes Part 1 will like this one. But, as I said earlier, only on the big screen. Don’t expect anything incredible from the movie. This is the most common Disney movie. I went to him to relax and have fun. That's what I got. There are enough morals about family in the movie, and maybe you can take something for yourself.
In 2010, “Alice in Wonderland” directed by Tim Burton was incredibly successful commercially, although in fact this film was beautiful in terms of visualization and beautiful in terms of acting Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, but very mediocre, in terms of plot, fantasy. And the studio, hoping to repeat the success of the first film, decided to release a sequel. Moreover, the literary source also assumed a continuation, so it was a sin not to take advantage of this circumstance. I'm afraid they won't do anything.
The story was even worse than in the first part. The beginning is almost the same as in the first part. Alice is again forced to meet with the vile lord who tried to propose to her (in this film he annoys even more) and again faced with the problem escapes to Wonderland, hoping that everything will resolve itself. There she learns that the Hatter is ill and only she can help him. The truth will have to go back to the past. And she does it with blind enthusiasm, and she is not embarrassed that it will have to disrupt the natural order of things and perhaps realize all the fears of Doc Brown.
Also, the film tries to introduce some logic and answer some questions left in the previous film. For example, why does the Red Queen have a big head or why does Time get mad at the Hatter, the March Hare and the Sonya mouse? On the one hand, it's good. Now there are answers to long-standing questions. But at the same time, it's not necessary. Wonderland is a place where logic is not needed. You just have to enjoy her crazy beauty. And there is a possibility that the answers to these questions will make this beauty less attractive.
The visual component is also not very helpful. Tim Burton is not the director of this film, but only serves as a producer. So if you hope to see the beautiful Gothic atmosphere for which Tim’s films are famous and which helped Alice in Wonderland, then I hasten to please you. She's not here. There are certainly good visual effects, but they can not surprise you. I've seen it a hundred times before.
And I saved the best for last. Characters. The worst part is that they are not impressed in this film. Neither Jony Depp nor Helena Bonham Carter are attracted the way they were last time. Either they don’t try to play, or their characters are so poorly written, I don’t know. But the fact remains. They're terrible in this movie. Like other characters like the Cheshire Cat. They were given so little screen time that they have no influence on the plot. You can't even really look at them.
But you know what's worst? Sacha Baron Cohen as Time. He's... great. The British comedian I never respected because of his filmography, consisting mostly of crude and incredibly vulgar comedies, is the best thing about this film!!! All the jokes, all the best scenes are about him. And he's the only one I really feel sorry for, because he has to run after Alice for the whole movie, because her recklessness can destroy the whole world. He is not a hero or villain in this story. He is the embodiment of the natural order of things, which no one under any circumstances has the right to violate. And as strange as that sounds, it's worth your time just for him. And believe me, it will not be wasted.
Alice returns from a successful commercial voyage from China, where she is waiting for a lot of bad news. The partner, an old friend of her father, has died and his place is taken by the vile sexist Haymage, whom Alice refused to marry. He quickly makes it clear that travel to faraway countries is over. It turns out that Alice’s mother sold shares in the company, at the same time pawning her husband’s house and ship, thus trying to deprive Alice of the opportunity to travel, and put her on the path of a true lady. In desperation, Alice runs away, and follows the butterfly-turned Abselom in the mirror, and falls into Wonderland.
There's not much to enjoy here, either. The never-bleak Hatter is in deep depression. He found the first hat he made, and believes it is proof that his family did not die. None of his wonderful friends believe this, which plunges the Hatter into an even deeper depression. And even the newly arrived "that Alice," says the phrase so hated by her - "it's impossible." It becomes the final blow for Terrant The White Queen talks about a way to figure out the fate of the hatter's family. All you have to do is borrow Time’s (Sacha Baron Cohen) chronosphere and go to the day the Jabberwort burned down the village where the Hatter family lived and figure out what really happened. Alice goes on a journey through time.
And this journey is beautiful. Director Tim Burton gave way to James Bobin, who very accurately managed to preserve the handwriting of Burton, and make “Alice in the Looking Glass” a film on the verge of madness, and not without deep, but at the same time simple, truths. In the world that Lewis Carroll created, through Burton's brains, everything is insanely magnificent. The Time Castle consists of gears and bizarre mechanisms, the way to it lies through the hands of the clock, its servants of the second, which, if necessary, assemble in minutes or even hours. The Hatter's house is made in the shape of a hat - there is no other way. Costumes, special effects, locations - all created with scrupulous accuracy. Every pixel in every frame is great.
Characters remain true to their characters even through time. Each dialogue is a separate story, which together in a bizarre manner create an amazing, whole fairy tale. “Time cannot be changed, but it can be learned,” Time tells Alice, refusing to give the chronosphere the key to time travel. And we'll learn a lot. Why is it always "a minute before tea", why the Jabberwort attacked the city of the Hatter and why the Red Queen is mad and cruel, and her head is so large? And this is only a small part of the story that awaits you in “Alice in the Looking Glass”.
We're not just watching Alice on her journey. We become part of this wonderful world. The film does not let you get bored for a second. Could it be different in the film based on the work of Carroll?

It is no secret that the works of Lewis Carroll about the girl Alice, traveling through Wonderland and the Looking Glass, have long been classics. Like many cult fairy tales, these stories were repeatedly filmed: in 1951, the studio Disney released its cartoon based on the book (together crossed and ' Wonderland' and ' Looking Glass'); in 1981-1982, Soviet artisans made two cartoons of two books (I confess, my favorite version of Alice). To adapt this crazy work, the director Tim Burton asked for himself, and in 2010 again under the leadership of Disney the film 'Alice in Wonderland', again crossed and ' Wonderland' and ' Looking Glass ' was released. And despite the controversial reviews of critics and viewers, I at one time liked the tape; yes, there are disadvantages, but I turned out well and atmospheric. Given the 3D boom in late 2009 and 2010, the picture grossed a billion dollars at the box office, and apparently that is why the sequel to the film by Tim Burton (but without Burton in the director's chair) ' Alice in the Looking Glass', which was taken even cooler than the first film, and I actually too.
What's the movie about?
The main character Alice Kingsley (Mia Wasikowska) after the adventures from the first film managed to become the captain of the ship (it is interesting to know how). In the real world, she has problems (both financial and some other), but suddenly on one evening she meets an old friend from Wonderland, a butterfly (in the first film, the caterpillar) Absolem (the last role of Alan Rickman, his bright memory), who leads her to Wonderland (Low Country / Underground Country / Looking Glass, I don’t know what to call this place finally). Alice meets old acquaintances again: the White Queen (Anne Hathaway), the White Rabbit with the clock (voice-Michael Sheen), the Trulyal from the Trailer, the Cheshire Cat (voice-Stephen Fry), and of course the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp), who has problems with family nostalgia and depression. In fact, Alice immediately goes to the rescue of Depp and seeks help from the Lord of Time himself (Sacha Baron Cohen). And then the eternally evil Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter), and time travel, and the backstory of the characters. . .
What I liked about the movie:
From a technical point of view, the film is beautiful. The scenery and special effects are beautiful (in 3D it looks good); the color scheme has become brighter compared to the first film; the soundtrack from the composer Danny Elfman has become more diverse, again compared to the first film.
And in general, the director James Bobin (creator ' Muppets' (2011-2014) had a completely different approach than Burton: the tape clearly came out brighter, more colorful and simpler in the plot plan (that is, now no battles and politics, as in the first film). That’s why kids can now watch the movie: it’s not dim, it’s not gloomy; there’s no killing or severed heads. And there is a moral here, saying that the past cannot be changed, you can only learn a life lesson from it. And I have nothing against the time machine in the movie about Alice from Wonderland, should I add something new?
And since the sequel has become brighter, Mia Wasikowska as Alice is not as wooden as in the first film; she has become a little more confident, but I still like other versions of Alice more. Helena Bonham Carter, as in the first film, is good in the image of the Red Queen, but of all the characters most liked Time performed by Sacha Baron Cohen (the scene with him and the Hatter is just chic!). Time was funny with its charisma.
'Your time is up!'
And here are the pluses, smoothly moving to the minuses:
Once I finish with the characters, I’ll start with them. Johnny Depp (to be more precise, Captain Johnny Depp) in the role of the Hatter here is not as deliverable as in the first film with ' jigo-shit': here he is not as funny as before, probably Johnny is just tired of both box office failures and personal problems, let’s see what happens with the new ' Pirates of the Caribbean'. Anne Hathaway in the role of the White Queen that in the first film that in the second seemed to me some suspicious person with her eternal equanimity and calm. In addition to all the secondary comic characters like Cheshire Cat or Trulal and Tralal were pushed even further, and they were not allowed to sharpen them.
As for the images, while trying to motivate the Red Queen, the scriptwriter managed to simply merge the character (imagine if all the villains began to commit genocide because of childhood trifles). Lewis Carroll shook in the coffin.
And in general, this film is even worse script than in the first picture, because logic sometimes goes to rest. For example, if the Hatter feels that his parents are alive, why couldn’t he go on this time travel and instead locks himself in and becomes depressed? Why does Alice have to puff up for him? There were many other questions about the script. And also after the film, I had the feeling that Alice, along with the White Queen, is the main villains of this film.
And the point was to invite for a 2-minute role the star of the series ' Sherlock' Andrew Scott? Although the cameo, which was more like a teaser of the 4th season & #39; Sherlock', which is now being filmed, was still pleasant.
Bottom line:
By comparison with the original source, probably, it was worth scoring from the very first trailer, so you will not have to judge in this regard. In general, after watching 'Alice in the Looking Glass' (even without the Looking Glass itself; passage through the mirror and Humpty-Dumpty cameo does not count), I had an ambiguous impression: the film seemed to like, and like not; it seemed interesting to watch, and like no. I had this with the fabulous film 'The Grinch-Christmas Thief' with Jim Carrey. And in some places the film even reminded me of the American analogue of the Russian ' Books of Masters' from the same studio Disney, only still better. But in general, I believe that the film is not as terrible as critics and audiences say, and it can be seen at least once; and if you turn off your brains at all and enjoy the bright colors and time travels (which I love so much), you can go to '. However, the silly scenario is not going anywhere.
Following the mad tea party and the fight with the dragon Jabberwort on Brave Day with the eccentricity characteristic of Tim Burton in Alice in Wonderland, which received, in addition to excellent box office fees, a couple of Oscars for costumes and decor, Lewis Carroll’s second semi-cream book could not be filmed after a few years and finally released on screens under the appropriate title Alice in the Looking Glass. This time a sorcerer and a master of black humor under the face of children's fairy tales, Burton left the place of director to a certain James Bobin, a very little-known director of the full-length "Muppets" and their sequels, who created a sequel to Alice's adventures in a fairy-tale country so remote from the book original, literally leaving only the main characters of Lewis, and according to the scripted delights of Linda Woolverton, completely tied the action to the freshly invented events of the first part. The sequel from Bobin does not even try to extract something from the author’s Looking Glass, which did not shine compared to the original, mercilessly exploiting the once invented world of the tenth year film, Bobin’s tape turns out to be quite capable of expanding the fairy tale, giving events a more detailed description, and the characters to pay special attention, on the scripted staple, making their stories complete.
No chessboard and adventures in cages, except for one small episode, in the new tape is absolutely not expected, because "Alice in the Looking Glass" is the most direct continuation of the stories of the two queens and the Hatter, offering together with the main character, a little older, who already controls her own ship Miracle, to go through the mirror and later, to return to those good times of a wonderful country when the dragon did not arrange mass riots. The film performs on a rather favorable soil of time travel, somewhat justifying all the exclamations of the characters from the Burton tape that they have repeatedly met with Alice. Such “days of the past”, again appeal to the main character by Absolem’s fleeting presence in the real world, where Alice has repeatedly managed to prove that nothing is impossible, however, the world of aristocrats, elderly bearded people, who completely do not understand and do not accept zeal for adventure, drive the girl into the political and financial framework of life conditions, beyond which it is possible only to get on the other side of the mirror and help find a family losing vitality Hatter, and White Queen Mirana to resolve long-standing disagreements with her sister, who loves to cut off everyone’s heads, the Queen.
A big plus in the James Bobin tape are the augmented stories of characters with which the viewer is already familiar, which implies parallel lines of searches for the Hatter's relatives and the childhood past of the queens, then still underprincess of the Marbles, acting out a drama that outgrown even an elephant out of a fly. The abuses of childhood, sometimes remain the most memorable negative moments from the past, the influence of which on the example of a fairy tale based on Carroll, make you behave somewhat differently in the present, with which Alice herself disagrees, later came to the right conclusions. In the meantime, the tape very successfully brings to the plot a new character named Time, who, in fact, manages time, that is, himself and living in a high-tech gear castle, closely monitors the life hours of each of the citizens of the Underground. You should not flirt with Time, as the Red Queen does, and you should not fool around the finger, as Alice does in her attempts to get a small spherical Chronosphere that can transfer the owner to any period of Time. Time is indivisible, it does not reverse and has almost no idea what money and other material values are. “Alice in the Looking Glass” both children and adults make it clear that Time does not wait for anyone, but the mistakes of the past can be corrected even now, and the necessary truths can be extracted by revealing secrets only by looking at the past from the outside, which the director does with a funny literality.
The sequel to Alice’s adventures is not inferior to its original in almost everything, except for the degree of absurdity, which was more present in Burton’s tape, but Bobin’s script is still harmonious, and the colorful visual component of the film, which has become brighter and more fabulous, offers not only to see the colorful streets of Wonderland or the vegetable castle of large-headed Iracibeta, but also to assess the originality of the performance of the scene with “rusting” time, which, even due to its thinness, is extremely beautiful and exciting. The most sentimental, perhaps feel a lump in the throat or even shed more final tears, for Helena Bonham Carter and Mia Wasikowska play out in the most touching and at the same time joyful moments perfectly, not without the support of Johnny Depp, already familiar in his endless role and suspiciously restrained Sacha Baron Cohen. Whatever the public thinks of biased critics and fans of digging into other people's underwear, honoring the yellow press and illegally condemning Alice Through the Looking Glass to low ratings, James Bobin's film will remain a worthy sequel, where the impossible becomes quite real, and Miracle is not just a ship.

The news of the continuation of Tim Burton’s fairy tale, which in 2010 unexpectedly became a hit, was received ambiguously: there were those who rejoiced in the continuation of the story of the beloved heroes, and there were those who did not see the need for it. I was one of those who was happy. The trailer seemed to me entertaining, fascinating, bringing us back to the familiar fairy tale. However, it was not immediately possible to get to the cinema. Having already read a couple of reviews of the most diverse mood, taking a quick look at the news about the rating of viewers and critics, I went to the cinema. The impressions were unexpected!
Three years have passed since that unfortunate engagement. Alice Kingsley became the captain of the ship & #39; Miracle & #39; and travels the world. Back in England, Alice discovers that her former boyfriend Hamish has become a lord, and now he is eager to take Alice's ship away in retaliation for the rejected offer. At the turning point, the girl is a familiar blue butterfly. Following her, Alice walks through the Mirror and returns to Wonderland. There she meets old friends who ask Alice to help a sick Hatter, convinced that his dead relatives are alive. Alice embarks on a dangerous journey to the abode of a powerful ruler – a time she asks to help a friend.
I didn’t have any particular hopes about the Looking Glass, apparently because of the devastating reviews. I went to the movies just for a good mood. However, I got a lot more good mood! Everything is in order.
First, the style of the film has changed. It is not the gloomy mystery of Tim Burton that prevails here, bright colors, light tones, and a positive attitude. James Bobin's film has become more fabulous, bizarre, interesting even more. And that's how I like him better. Second, new themes are revealed in the Looking Glass, the characters face new problems that ordinary people also solve. In general, I like that Alice movies tell us about things that are good for us: for example, how to gain confidence in yourself, gain the courage to follow your dreams. The main theme here is our attitude to the past: for how many times do we imagine what would have happened if we had acted differently in the past at a certain moment? In the Looking Glass, the theme of the past and change plays a major role. There are many good and instructive phrases on this topic.
And when the characters began to travel in time, my joy was not limited - I love such travels! I also liked the devices on which the heroes flew on the ocean of time - very bizarre and sophisticated devices! And the special effects themselves still amaze our imagination: talking chess pieces, a bizarre Hatter’s house, the gloomy Fortresses of Time, the servants of the Red Queen – like the revived heroes of vegetable paintings by the artist Archimboldo ... Just as saturated was the soundtrack of Danny Elfman, who again acted as the composer of the film: he retained the impetuous motif of the previous part and added many new interesting compositions, for example, Watching Time, The Chronosphere.
In the Looking Glass returned all the main characters from the first part. But as noted earlier, because of such an abundance of characters, many characters are lost against the background of the main ones: there were very few of the Cheshire Cat, the White Rabbit and Absolem. Of course, each of them has their own highlights in the film, but I wanted more of them. . .
But the main characters here are simply magnificent. If there were some shortcomings and inefficiencies in the previous part, now the characters are revealed more, making the characters more interesting. Alice (Mia Wasikowska) became more confident, more determined, more courageous. If in the previous part it was everywhere dragged, reduced, enlarged and stuffed into a kettle, then here it is much more independent - controls the crew of the ship, kidnaps the Chronosphere, goes into the past, escapes from the hospital. Alice from the Looking Glass managed to impress me!
Terrant Cylinder (Hytopp), aka Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp) - still charmingly mad and cute. The hero also reveals a new side: the dream to find their relatives and reconcile with them adds sympathy to the viewer. It was also interesting to look at the Hatter in the past - especially I was fascinated by the little Tarrant (Louis Ashbourne Serkis), who dreams of becoming as wonderful a master as his father, and making the same magnificent hats. And the quirks, snares and curves of the Hatter did not annoy me at all, but perfectly amused me!
In a new way, we looked at the confrontation between the two sisters Iracibeta ( Helena Bonham Carter) and Mirana of Marmoreal (Anne Hathaway) - the Red and White Queens. Why didn't the sisters get along? We will go back in time and find out... Actresses played very well: Helena easily transformed into a proud and arrogant queen who craves power and revenge. Queen Anne is somewhat different from that airy lady of the previous film - she seems more close to reality and decisive.
I really liked the new hero, Time. A self-confident and powerful gentleman for whom almost nothing is impossible. Sacha Baron Cohen is a great choice for the role. He brought a lot of humor and comedy to the image of Time. I especially liked the scene where all the famous proverbs, sayings, expressions, metaphors and epithets about time are brilliantly played out. I think it was brilliant!
Other new heroes include Rhys Evans, who played the strict father of the Hatter Zannick Cylinder, Andrew Scott, an evil psychiatric doctor, Edward Speliers, clerk James Harcourt, and Richard Armitage, King Olero and father of Iracibeta and Mirana.
Against all odds, including my expectations, I really enjoyed the film. And I understand that the Looking Glass may not like everyone. I see many of the shortcomings of the film. But still, I can say openly that I had an incomparable pleasure watching the sequel to one of my favorite movies. And I will definitely watch the film again in the original, listen to the voices of my favorite British actors, again plunge into the extraordinary and incredible Wonderland!

In 2010, the long-awaited adaptation of the famous Lewis Carroll fairy tale was released. Critics praised it, if not laudably, at least satisfactorily. And at the box office, the picture was simply a stunning success (more than a billion dollars). And of course, as befits the world of cinema, the creators wanted to continue milking the cow. What happened to that?
We meet Alice very mature, not physically, but spiritually. She's not the lost girl who still can't bear to lose her father. Before us, literally from the first minutes of the film, appeared a strong, proud, fearless girl (and possibly a woman). And here comes the question: Is this really the character we wanted to see? After all, the basis is a fairy tale about a girl, and so abrupt changes, if not upset, then at least embarrass. Further, the viewer learns that the main character is experiencing not the best times, which further discourages the feeling of a fairy tale. And now, having previously received a portion of bitter reality, Alice still gets into a magical world. All of our favorite characters from the first installment remain the same as Tim Burton, and that’s a joy. The ever-confused White Rabbit, the slightly brash Cheshire, and the shaking White Queen performed by Anne Hathaway, whose image is the archetype of a beautiful princess who served all his life as a model of whiteness and fluffiness (or not all?). I don’t think John Depp should be mentioned. The master of reincarnation is on top, however, as always. Immediately, Alice learns about the problem that should serve as the plot, and from this moment it becomes clear that there is no plot in fact. He's literally sucked off his finger. Each subsequent action has no logical justification and the causal relationship is very weak. Its share of the inadequacy of what is happening brings a new character, Time. Instead of a demigod, we see some clown whose actions elicit laughter rather than awe. And, as a result, the same meaningless ending, although not devoid of morality.
As for the atmosphere of the film, everything remains as before. The fairytale world of the mirror is worked out to the smallest detail. Special effects, costumes, makeup, scenery are also at a height that somewhat distracts from the holes in the plot.
So, sum up. It turned out a bright, colorful picture with a poorly worked out plot and magnificent characters and atmosphere. Is it worth watching? It all depends on your impressions of the first part. This film takes you back to a world where you can do six miracles a day, but nothing more. You will not see anything new in this film. And if you are still impressed by immersion in an amazing fairy tale from the first part, then a pleasant view, and if not, it is better to bypass it.
P.S. I think Alan Rickman’s character could have been given more screen time.
Let me start with what I liked about the film, because it is much easier and faster to talk about the advantages than to list all the shortcomings of the film. So, the main bright spot in the film is the character of Sacha Baron Cohen - Time. He's funny and seems like the only sane person here. And then in each scene he manifested himself from different sides, then he is funny and ridiculous, then imperious, then pathetic, then pleasing, in general the hero is ambiguous, but still treat him with great love, understanding and compassion (and what eyes...) As for the rest of the characters, they are either impenetrable dummies, scoundrels or knaves, or simply not revealed. This is not the mirror I wanted to see! Hating positive characters and pitying negative ones are not the feelings I wanted to feel! Alice, noticeably aged, is shown, I apologize for her directness, stupid - not to stop when there was a great opportunity, but to continue to occupy screen time with absolutely unnecessary searches for adventures in one place, describe in the ear to everyone understandable things (such chips still work?) - an ordinary thief, almost destroying the magical world because of his stubbornness, thereby turning from the protagonist into an antagonist. We also open the white queen from the other side, and there are other feelings for her sister Red. The characters of the underground country are boring and are nothing more than extras. The hatter performed by our dear Johnny Depp (as I could forget about him) the half of the film lies in bed, depicting an incurable ailment, changing in each frame the color of hair and makeup, and the rest of the film without much enthusiasm works out its unheard-of fee. By the way, together with Sasha were very recognizable in the images - they decided not to leave their roles far, and they did not need much. And who better to do it, decide for yourself.
The plot in colors was described above, and overall it is terrible. Yes, the film tells about important values, about how to save time, that the past can not be changed, but not in the same way! Especially in the script annoyed or delays, such as ' Do you believe me?' - ' But they don't...' - ' No, you believe me?' - ' But they are all me...' - ' You don't believe me?' - ' I would really like to, but they don't know...' --...' -- *frame with a door closing in front of the nose*, or too fast development of the film, or more than one of the scenes, and I've heard so many more places, and I haven't heard so many more.39; There were a couple of glorious moments, like old-fashioned tea parties or episodes from the childhood of old friends, but they will not cover everything else that was happening on the screen. And as in the middle of the film entered Andrew 'Moriarty' Scott in his repertoire, why?
And perhaps the most important loss of the new 'Alice' - Tim Burton. Of course, the first part was not a masterpiece, but thanks to the excellent director-visualizer of fiction and fairy tales took a place in my heart and did not spoil the memories of childhood, when from '.
The film is not for all ages, suitable only for kids and then due to the bright picture and cute animation, but not because of the script, jokes or that fabulous spirit.
I was completely disappointed by what I saw. 2 hours and 200 rubles wasted. And only for the sake of Baron Cohen, my review is not on a red background.

On 'Alice' went by accident. I watched the first movie, but I didn’t have a great response after it. The film is good, I don’t doubt, but I liked the second Alice much more, which is quite rare with films.
I liked the idea and the deep meaning of everything. Fewer magical creatures, but more life and family scenes. More relationships, more love and understanding between characters, more positive statements to viewers.
Expressions ' nothing is impossible', ' you have one family' or ' I just needed your apology' All this made the film instructive not only for children but also for adults.
It shows parents who are not always right and regret it. Children who understand how important family is. People who make mistakes and then admit them and apologize.
The film teaches goodness, love and hope in any, even the most difficult situation.
Not Burton's, no, no. And especially not Carroll - with the book version should have said goodbye in 2010.
The sequel left such a confused impression that I could not understand for a long time whether I liked it or not. For the first half an hour of timekeeping, I honestly tried to delve into the atmosphere that I liked so much in ' Wonderland' then abandoned this thankless occupation. There is no atmosphere, it is a game quest: go from one location to another, find one valuable thing, move with it to the past and so on. Alice just runs back and forth without being surprised, and it's a little annoying. It seems that she falls down in the Underground every week for the weekend.
In general, the plot itself has so many obscenely stretched entanglements that you want to shout from impotence: why! Alice escapes from the real problems in her life - one-on-one, as in the first film - and immediately takes on the Hatter problem. No one believes his family is alive and he is depressed. And only Alice can help him.
And if she hadn't been able to come, would he have bent down completely without doing anything on his own to find his family? Interesting question.
No one asked if Alice wanted to do anything here. Well, yeah, why? Since she's here, she a priori agrees with any decision of the inhabitants of the Underground. And she doesn't have any problems in real life, yeah, she has nothing else to do. Well, come on, friends need help.
The Hatter or Terrant, on the whole, is not bad, but without that enthusiasm when he appealed to the inhabitants of the Underground: 'Down with the Bloody Witch'!
Mr. Time is very active and charming, he does not like jokes, but he knows his business well and loves it. The only conflict in the film that I liked is related to this character: he and Alice, each of them was in his own way right in their actions, such disagreements are always more interesting to watch than the obvious confrontation ' fathers and children' as in the story of the Hatter and his father.
A separate plus for the tea party scene, where it is clear that Time spares no one, especially liars and jokers.
The story of the Royal Sisters is interesting, revealing old familiar characters from the other side.
The film is like a colorful kaleidoscope, it is full of beautiful, but soulless pictures. Everything is too fabulous, too bright and too fast, I did not have time to be imbued with emotions, so it turned out to be a little tight to empathize with the heroes.
There are several useful thoughts in the film: you need to love your family and respect each other, you need to help friends, you can not lie (because lies often trigger a terrible mechanism of destruction), trying to change the past is useless - you just need to draw conclusions from it and move on. I don’t have the whole list yet.
The film came out with a paradox: he was madly in a hurry, like the White Rabbit to the reception to the Duchess, but still stretched a slow thrust. He was fussing, trying to say something, touching the heart strings, but only a beautiful soulless spectacle with good thoughts came out.
A trifle, but unpleasant: in addition to all the above disadvantages, there is still no good music to goosebumps (not counting the soundtrack from the previous part).

After positive impressions from the first film ' Alice in Wonderland' decided to take a ticket for the next part. And she was disappointed.
It was worth expecting that the director would not adhere to the canon, as it was in the last film, but to leave behind the Looking Glass only the transition through the mirror into the fantasy world is absurd. This is not 'Alice in the Looking Glass' but only some story with characters from the corresponding book. The plot is almost completely reinvented, being painfully banal and uninteresting. Predicting events is not difficult. It is clear that to come up with a really worthwhile plot that can surprise the viewer is now really difficult, but this does not mean that the film should consist of stamps.
I didn't feel the spirit of Wonderland. Something was missing all the time. It seems that the actors themselves are not happy to play in this picture. Somehow it was very sad, because from the fantasies of Alice were only computer special effects, and not funny and crazy characters.
Morality in the film is enough: there is love for family, and faith in their strength and dreams, and equality (note that Hollywood recently received films with a feminist orientation). It's fine, but the candy wrapper is faded and cheap.
In general, the first thought that appeared after watching the film is another picture to raise money. I didn't like the Disney movie this time.
And then came the second part about the girl Alice and Mad Hatter, it turned out nothing, even in places interesting. But if you take the first part, then there we know what to expect, because for sure everyone has read the book by Lewis Carroll, and know the plot.
In the first part, we, first of all, look at the colorfulness of the episodes, the play of actors, and special effects, but in the second part, everything is new for us, we do not know what the plot will be, so we greedily watch this film.
The film turned out to be as colorful and bright, Johnny Depp in the role of a hatter is still good, and dynamic, but Alice in the role of the captain of the ship I can not imagine, so she belongs in the mirror, where the director himself sent her to save the mirror world, in particular the hatter.
The plot is interesting, tells us how to properly use our precious time, appreciate it. How to make friends, appreciate loved ones.
Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter in the role of queens are still beautiful, not inferior to the first part, but only here they are ' change ' in places, in relation to good and evil.
Mia Wasikowska is still gray and boring for me personally, and even colorful dresses do not save her. But Sacha Baron Cohen was very pleased, breathed into the film a breath of something bright and impossible to correct.
Bottom line: the film is dynamic, interesting, instructive, but far from the first part, it turned out to be something completely different, only the characters remained the same, perhaps this is a plus, and maybe a minus, but I definitely advise you to watch, at least once, it all!

Expecting from the Looking Glass almost nothing but a beautiful filling, it was nice to realize that despite the unfavorable bias of many critics and viewers, the movie came out more than great and truly magical. In addition, it confirms the rule - to evaluate films based solely on their impressions. If the casting of the main character, even from the first part, it was possible to treat diametrically opposite opinions, then the acting and charisma of the charming Mia Wasikowska did not leave the slightest doubt about the successful choice for the role. The sequel, however, confirmed the quality of the acting game, as well as the non-earthliness of Alice in relation to the things surrounding her.
But, personally, I ask you to note that to adapt for the movie "Wonderland" can not only come out at the moment dilogy and not even a triquel (if it was). We are talking about other visions of the universe, the same magical, but with a degree of cruelty, an increased age rating, designed not for a children’s audience, as well as changed characters. It is logical and justified to get the film adaptation outside the locomotive Disney. The experience with several films shot in parallel with each other (where the same characters with different actors and creators participate in the narrative) has been worked out. I mean, not only fairy tales and not always in the form of films. As an example: Tarzan (and what already was not: movies, cartoons and TV series), The Jungle Book Disney/Andy Serkis, different Snow White and almost perfect Cinderella 2015. Different grade/quality projects with a similar scheme prove this theory, but unlike Alice, not all shine with careful study and high cost, or are designed for a very vague audience, like visually good Red Riding Hood with Amanda Seifred. Cap, filmmakers still can not knock out in the highest echelon, and try sluggishly, although the material is more than having.
As a pleasant, not tortured, not trying to please a female or male audience exception, can be called Beauty and the Beast (2014), where the main roles involved Lea Seidu and Vincent Cassel. In terms of presentation - it was a dramatic, adult fantasy with a beautifully told story and a delightful visual part. It’s not Disney either, they’re making their own version.
Back to the subject of Looking Glass. Unlike the Gothic first part authored by Tim Burton, the world without destruction from James Bobin began to look like colorful, juicy and incredibly lively surrealism. The departure of the Gothic can be attributed not only to the arrival of calm in Wonderland, but also to its unusual climate, which, however, is not explained. But the sequel is good that the world of fabulousness allows the viewer to hover in the clouds, thinking up his quirks and drawing in his imagination not shown territories.
The script has become many times more dynamic, there is a constant saturation of actions, new characters, creatures, landscapes and not similar spectacular scenes in comparison with the original.
The music from Danny Elfman is even better. The main topic remained in place.
The plot follows the fashion about time travel and in the spirit of such creations as: Shrack forever, X-Men: Days of Future Past and Terminator: Genesis.
Alice is already an adult, her character has become even more firm and decisive, as her personality clearly contrasts with herself from the first part. Merit of good acting and the evolution of the heroine. The action of the Looking Glass is not just a beautiful wrapper, all the characters were revealed much better and everyone can be empathized, there is good and meaning.
Costumes, artists’ work and decorations are worked out to the smallest detail. You literally want to immerse yourself in the world, and make the effect of presence even more, will help 3D Although it is not the most outstanding, it copes with its role as the volume of a huge kingdom.
The story of the second part turned out to be touching (at the same time it fills the gaps of the first), and the action is even more cute and more exciting. After watching in the cinema, there were only positive emotions from what they saw. In the future, I will definitely take on the shelf in the collection and will wait for new incarnations of such a wonderful world in the cinema.

Looking ahead, I will say that the song Just like Fire performed by Pink liked, oddly enough, more than the film itself. On the credits, on the way out of the cinema, she had the effect of strong coffee and cheered up after such an action-packed fairy tale.
Frankly speaking, from the film “Alice in the Looking Glass” there were two impressions: on the one hand, a good bright fairy tale, and on the other hand, it seemed that we were deceived and again, under a beautiful wrapper, a dummy was thrown up with the notorious family values and psychological traumas of childhood. I'm so sick of this. Is it impossible to do without family dramas in such a fairy tale as Alice, where skeletons fall out of old cabinets, and it is decided who betrayed whom without telling the truth about the crumbs under the bed?
In addition, the film was very lacking some eccentricity, recklessness, sweet absurdity. Everything is very strict and somehow gives a little secondary. Some characters were absolutely cardboard and primitive, they were not funny schiziks, but some pathos-sugar-inadequate. It is sad that such bright characters as Cheshire, Sonya, March Hare and Company have lost their former charisma and began to play the role of furniture.
Dear actors, why do you want to play there? Anne Hathaway, lady in white, smoothly twitching cotton candy. Johnny Depp has long ceased to play, and just crooked. The problem of the Hatter and his family was not at all interested. Is it me, or is the Hatter's makeup a little overdone? I was waiting for him to shout, “Dad, I’m a transvestite!” Alice, such Alice - a brisk girl, captain of the ship, strong-willed and a little out of her mind - supposedly she should be like that. But Mia Wasikowska is logging again. She's not crazy, she's kind of inexpressive. The dubbing made her look even worse. As my friend said: an actress of a burned theater.
Near the end, I was so tired of all this running, supposedly very important. I wanted Alice to get there and this whole cabbage was finally over. Came to my favorite fairy tale, and in the end got an overloaded drama with curves from the sitcom. The motto “Mad Men Are Smarter” is clearly out of the question. Not crazy, not gambling. But still worth a look. The kids will probably be happy. A fairy tale. But nothing more. The film of the 50s impressed much more.
P.S. For the main song, for the atmosphere and the charming Helena Bonham Carter, which I really believed, my assessment –

After visiting Wonderland, Alice Kingsley’s life changed dramatically – she became the captain of her father’s ship and went to China to establish trade relations, spending three years plowing the seas and oceans. But the way of life of Victorian England during the absence of the heroine does not change and on arrival in London she learns that the management of the company has passed to the rejected her fiancé, the mother mortgaged the house and that because of this she may lose her ship and captain's post. But these problems quickly fade into the background when Alice again falls into the magical land, passing through the mirror. It turns out that her friend, the Hatter, has closed in after realizing that his deceased family may be alive. Alice takes on an impossible task: go back in time, find out what happened to the Hatter’s loved ones and fix the situation.
Despite the fact that the title of the film is the title of the book of the same name by Lewis Carroll, the sequel to the 2010 hit film has even less to do with the literary source than its predecessor. In the film by Tim Burton, the authors have already mixed two books and clearly did not expect any sequel, but the adjustments made the collected billion dollars at the global box office, which gave the installation that the sequel not only be, but also not pass. From the work of Carroll about the Looking Glass in the film there were only episodic appearances of chess pieces, Humpty Dumpty, and the mirror itself as a portal to Wonderland. If the plot of “Alice in Wonderland” was pure “based on motives”, then “Alice in the Looking Glass” is so to say “original” story, and the task of screenwriter Linda Wolverton and director James Bobin was more to preserve the spirit of the past film than the aesthetics of the Carroll world. In general, the task was completed and the exhaust turned out colorful attraction of computer graphics for children with familiar characters. The merits of the film are almost exhausted. If Burton's film was not an original work, which many critics scolded, but it still felt a small note of the fact that this is a film directed by a master of Gothic romance. Looking Glass turned out to be a sterile Disney (in the bad sense of this epithet) film, which is more likely to cover the costs at the box office, but will not surpass the “Wonderland” neither in fees nor in visual saturation, becoming a one-time entertainment, whose time will pass quickly.
The heart of any film, first of all, is its dramaturgy and the history of the development of the relationships of the characters. And if it so happened that the sequel is filmed, then the viewer wants to see, in addition to familiar characters, an amazing world full of new bright characters. There were no problems with the beloved heroes - the authors of the film managed to keep the entire cast of the team, so in addition to Alice on the screen you can see the White Queen, no less white Rabbit, March Rabbit, Blue Butterfly, Cheshire Cat, Hatter and even the Red Queen, and the new key figure was Time. Extensions for inventions from the creators were at least plenty, but instead on the screen show the agonizing journey of Alice into the past of the heroes with sketches from the childhood of the Hatter and Queens, but in the dry remnant the story does not give novelty. Showed squabbles with children's grievances and spoiled relationships with relatives more fit, whether it's some TV series or melodrama, not fantasy for $ 170 million. Well, really, to watch children's resentment that someone ate the cake and did not pick up the crumbs, and from this "fly" sculpted a whole "elephant", sticking a straightforward, filed in the forehead morality, somehow not Comilfo, despite the fact that everything is served under the sauce of a magical story. Here is a bright, colorful, flickering children's fairy tale with an easy and often spoken morality - "if you believe in yourself, the impossible turns out to be feasible." Costumes, design, effects try to drape roughness, or even quite large dramatic holes, but this technique clearly does not work. Of course, you can throw away the nagging and blame everything on the fact that this is a family film and, in general, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. But then what does it have to do with it 'Alice in the Looking Glass'? Carroll? Nothing to do with it. Forget it! Well, except that can be considered curtsey in the direction of the writer, that the authors (consciously?) made episodes of reality more absurd from the point of view of logic and the real state of things of the Victorian era than that part of history that develops on the other side of the mirrors, as such a flipper.
If you still stand up for this controversial work, then in addition to the above-mentioned elaborate visual, actors and their characters sometimes save the action. Yes, the grown-up Mia Wasikowska did not bring anything to her image and looks more like a pale shadow against the background of the pretentious inhabitants of Wonderland, played by actors and created with the help of graphics, but entourage characters still cause more interest. The action becomes more interesting when, for example, Helena Bonham Carter appears on the screen in the image of the Red Queen with her crown “Head off the shoulders!” or Sacha Baron Cohen, who played Time. The latter even managed to outshine Johnny Depp with his mad Hatter for the simple reason that Depp and his hero were more of a figurehead, like Alice.
Perhaps these words of the Time gentleman himself best describe the somewhat sad and bitter aftertaste of watching a movie. If we sum up as a whole, the picture turned out to be worthy, even integral and really fascinating. In addition, adding a few new features to the events of the previous part. But for such an impression, you need to step away from the details.
Close-ups were detrimental to Mia Wasikowska as Alice: even Anne Hathaway as the White Queen looked younger. To the last, by the way, absolutely no claims, played all the emotions very truthfully. Next is the Hatter. It was especially unpleasant to realize that the image from the first film is difficult to find in the second. Perhaps the circumstances of the script did not allow Depp to unfold in full force: in the scenes of the past and in the final everything was much better.
But, of course, there was also good: events from the childhood and youth of the queens, tea drinking crazy company with Time. The revealed secrets of the past, although somewhat petty in adult eyes, for me very successfully fit into the world of Carroll, as if he had invented such a back story. The visual, as always, struck the imagination, so that even in some places sagging logic did not focus too much on itself.
Either way, this film is unlikely to be a waste of time. At least because of the presence of Sacha Baron Cohen in the role of Time. It is noticeable that the director has changed, but I hope for the third part, in which he or Tim Burton will correct the mistakes made in this one. Still, I want to once again visit the world of Alice, before the time is finally gone.

Why This Beautiful Movie Should Not Be Downloaded And you shouldn't go there either.
It is very easy to imagine how the great screenwriter Linda Woolverton (the author of the animated Ghost Busters and the Lion King!) sits in the evening in a chair to re-read the book ' Alice in the Looking Glass ' and write a sequel to her most successful film. She admires the cover with a chessboard, she drools her finger to flip the first page, but fascinated by her own salivated finger, and in the end does not move. Indeed, why read this boring Englishwoman Carol, when the plot can be sucked out of your own great California finger?
The secondaryness of the film is off the scale compared to even the classic Disney samples of second-rate. Taking the name from the original book, the authors for two hours torment the audience with a long afterword to the first film (that still netlenka, despite well-deserved names and a billion fees). Did you ever wonder why the Jabberwock attacked the Magic Land? Why is the red queen so mean and the white queen so bruised? What did Trulal and Tralal look like in childhood (spoiler - also?) How did the eternal tea party begin? Why is the Hatter called that? How did the Cat learn to disappear? What could Alice do after returning to the boring Victorian England? Well, if so, welcome to the world of Wolverton-Burton afterwords. In the new Disney film, all these important questions are chewed up in detail, find simple and simple answers against the background of simple scenery and put dots. Perhaps we should thank the authors for the latter. Judging by the horribly elderly and bored appearance of the heroes (primarily Depp), he no longer wants to star in this ugliness against the background of painted animals, even for the sake of many millions of dollars laid for this circus work. Let's hope for a miracle!
Is it worth it for the sake of visual beauty in 3D? Victorian England is made uncomplicated - not reaching not only last year's ' Frankenstein' but also to typical serial incarnations (for example, in ' Doctor Who', ' Treasure Island' etc.). Even instead of the Magic Country, we are shown a boring medieval city with frog townspeople, and in the form of know-how we show the revived paintings of Giuseppe Arcimboldo. Incredible originality. Pity Carol and your nerves - don't try to look at these lazy efforts of deserving Hollywood pensioners. There's nothing from the great Disney family cartoons of the 1990s (not to mention the 1951 masterpiece) or the good Burton movies of the 2000s. Richly made recyclables, popcorn for the most unassuming schoolchildren.
39: The past cannot be changed. But there are lessons to be learned from it'.
It has been a long six years since the release of the original Tim Burton-'Alice in Wonderland' And now, finally, it’s time to return to the enchanted world of Lewis Carroll and meet old friends there.
Alice Kingsley (Mia Wasikowska) returns from another long sea voyage and learns that her business is on the verge of closing, and the future does not bode well. But in a moment of utter despair, the blue butterfly Absolem (Alan Rickman) arrives and calls her back to Wonderland, where the Hatter (Johnny Depp) needs lower-case help. Always ready to come to the aid of her friends, Alice embarks on a dangerous adventure in which she must face Time itself (Sacha Baron Cohen). . .
To be honest, I didn’t really know what to expect from the picture, but it managed to make the best impression on me. Even though there is almost nothing left of the book. The authors managed not only to come up with a new story, but also to connect it with the first part. Heroes have become ' voluminous' and some actions are clearer. Look at it organically and easily. In addition, interesting work was carried out on the images of the characters - changing makeup, age, characters. And new ones are introduced - Humpty - Dumpty, the Hatter family and Time. The cast is brilliant (except Wasikowski, who, like last time, spoils the whole movie). But most importantly, the sequel features my beloved Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. It is also worth noting Sacha Baron Cohen, who with Depp made a sparkling duet.
Brightly gloomy, fun-sad, absurd, strange fusion of the past, present and future makes "Alice in the Looking Glass" & #39; a magnificent work of cinematography.
The new film, telling about the adventures of the famous fairy-tale heroine, came out ambiguous. On the one hand, the need for a sequel to Alice in Wonderland was obvious immediately after the film's release in 2010, if only because of the success of the film adaptation and the availability of a literary source as a sequel. At the same time, the much-condemned change of director is itself highly questionable: Tim Burton would not be Tim Burton if he could be easily replaced without harming the future of the film product.
It's not even that James Bobin is much less experienced than his predecessor as director. But Burton's tape was good for its unusualness, a strange but charming mixture of a children's fairy tale and Gothic fantasy - "i" We haven't seen Alice yet. Therefore, the “Looking Glass” was initially doomed to try to reach the level of the first part, preserve the style, and at the same time not to be a boring copy.
In my opinion, it didn't quite work out. The plot of the film is markedly different from the original book, which in theory should make it interesting, but this does not happen. If the books and the first part consist of amazing, crazy scenes merging together, then this film has, like most expensive fantasy, one worn-out storyline (in this case, time travel to save the Hatter’s family) and a couple of branches. So, the plot could not surprise the viewer.
What about the atmosphere? The tape shows a gloomy, both in appearance and in essence, reality, and a sweet-bright, like the factory of Willy Wonka, Wonderland. However, there is no madness in this country, there is no such thing as “ever stranger and stranger”, no matter what Alice whispers there – all the characters familiar to us from the first film behave absolutely normally, as far as you can see from their short presence on the screen. Alice herself in the frame a little more, but basically she just watches what is happening in a certain scene, and realizing that everything went wrong, runs to a certain time machine, called the Chronosphere, and moves to another location to do the same. This makes the film more like a computer game than a movie, and watching the game from the outside is not always interesting.
The movie doesn’t even need the main character. All two hours are devoted to telling a predictable story and excerpts to reveal the images of both Queens and their relationship, so that in the end everything ends surprisingly well for the film, where the main character in the middle of the story suddenly wakes up in a psychiatric hospital, and then again dive into the abyss of fairy tale adventures.
In general, the semantic component came out weak. Weak motivation of the characters, weak plot, weak humor (although sometimes funny), weak popular philosophy about the importance of time, which would be good, do not repeat the characters all the time.
The picture of the film was good and bright, not inferior to the first part, the actors also looked harmoniously in their places, and the music was very suitable for each scene. In terms of implementation, everything was really wonderful, except for the incomprehensible makeup of the Hatter, the incomprehensible hat of the Hatter and the generally incomprehensible Hatter. This charismatic character in the new film was shown completely dull and uninteresting, even at the end.
Summing up, it is impossible not to say that this film has certain advantages that make it a spectacular pop-corn movie with great actors and high-quality special effects. But if you try to dig deeper, it turns out that the fabulous charm of the story is lost, many characters are pushed to the background, and Johnny Depp, apparently, is tired of playing freaks.
In general,
James Bobin did not disappoint and honorably continued Tim Burton's madness in the new Alice part. Of course, the picture lacks the handwriting of a mad genius. But James didn't bother either.
Alice returns to the land of dreams to save her friend. Hatter. The heroine has to go back in time to change the future and the present. However, such a trip could lead to very sad consequences.
From the mouth of Time sounds very concise, but such an accurate thought. It is not necessary to try to change the past. That's impossible. On the basis of the past days, it is necessary to draw conclusions and invest this experience in your future.
The visual range is very bright and rich. Sometimes too busy. In episodes, the picture is sweet. I want to dilute something less sunny and rainbow. Children will love this set of bright colors. Everything sparkles, shimmers, blooms. For me, this palette was sweet.
The characters haven't changed. A few new faces were added to the film. We continue our journey to the magical land in the same composition. The favorite for me was the gentleman Time. Sometimes rude, selfish and narcissistic. But with such an interesting attitude and philosophy.
The set of crazy tea drinkers has not changed. Shiza, she's a shiza. No more, no more. Psycho-my love. I am very happy with the characters.
Except Alice. She seems to still defend her dreams, desires and goals. He's not cheating. But the heroine becomes much ruder, more selfish. The spirit of the girl who believes in miracles and madness is lost. It's more down-to-earth in this part. Growing up, Alice. I didn’t have that naiveté and immediacy.
Disney created a kind and instructive fairy tale designed for children and adult children. A good movie to spend an evening with your family or just plunge into a world of illusions.
Initially resisted to go to this film, because not a fan of tapes in this style, but for the sake of interest went down. Oh, my God, I was so disappointed after the session. Everything in order.
The tie-up... Some time after the events of the first part, Alice returned from a voyage home, where her mother is waiting for her, who forces Alice to give up the ship, which previously belonged to the father of the main character. As a result of some events, Alice finds herself in another world, where all the characters are located, including the Hatter performed by Johnny Depp. This is where the main action of the film takes place.
Characters... Everything is very sad on this front. The characters were damn stupid and uninteresting. It feels like no one but Sacha Baron Cohen’s Time can think logically. This is especially noticeable in Alice, who we see in the frame 90% of the time. I'm just ' pricked ' on the film with questions ' Why not do it all right?', 'Why does she do it?' I absolutely did not want to empathize with Alice, I did not understand her, I did not understand the meaning of her actions, I did not understand her motivation, I did not understand anything in this film at all. The hat was not bad, but the reason he's so sad is not clear either. The Queen came out very wretched, because her motivation is not, and there is no logic in her actions, but she was really sorry, I worried much more for her than for Alice. The other characters are very mediocre and uninteresting. In general, in terms of characters, a complete failure.
In general, the creators of the film definitely hoped that people who watched the first part and know the history of the characters would go to this film, so if you decide to go to the session, then watch "Alice in Wonderland" & #39; because it is the story of most characters.
Impression... I'm disappointed... He left the cinema in complete indignation, tried to comprehend the actions of the main characters. It bothered me that I empathized more with negative characters than positive ones.
In terms of the picture, I was pleased, special crap with special effects was not visible, and the other world of Alice is recreated, albeit so to itself, but beautifully.
Finally... The film didn’t get me hooked, I think if you turn off the brain during the session, then maybe it will roll. I do not recommend going to the movie.
Give me back my time spent on this movie!

"Let's lift the curtain behind the edges, "
Such an old, heavy backstage...
That's what time it used to be.
So flat, look, Alice... (c)
Did you believe in Alice? As strange as it sounds, I believed it. And not just her. Everything! The film turned out to be an extravaganza - a real phantasmagoria. Madness, bright paint. It's like a Holi holiday. Filled. There's so much going on, and a lot of people are writing that the scenes are disjointed and unrelated, but pff... why show what's clear between the lines? The whole plot is one in one way or another, and cut or omitted scenes are useless. I’ve had enough and nothing to add.
So Alice ...
Definitely immediately, it is impossible not to mention the emotions that overwhelmed with head, it was only necessary to start watching the film. Emotions from the category of nostalgia ... Back to childhood! Back to the fairy tale! Good far! And get the Cheshire Cat back on the Desktop screensaver! It's been a long time.
This film is much older than the previous one, and it has a much deeper moral and message. The end of the first film is a retreat to a dream, a break with the only family that Alice still had – her mother, who was unable to understand her. The same movie is growing up. And all the downed, “inclined” values suddenly fall into place. And for that I wanted to applaud. No kidding. But it was strong.
Alice has grown up, she has “outgrown” a fairy tale, but she still needs a fairy tale. Like any hero. I don’t understand the “feminist” aspect of this film. When the vast majority of stories with male heroes are around, and one of the isolated films about a real heroine evokes similar feelings in people – this is from the category of “Where did we go?” Anyway, the book was written about the heroine. The film is based on the book. I don’t know what the complaints are.
The heroine does not do anything beyond her powers. She just goes forward to help her friends. And if you think that women are not capable of such things, well, I feel sorry for you.
But back to the movie.
Richard Armitage as the father of two princesses... how long have I not laughed so much? It was something that just fell out of the movie and I wanted to tighten my eyes so I wouldn’t see it. It was a pleasure to see Andrew Scott. Those ten seconds he had. Intrusively in my head "missing me." But you can survive it.
Time... Time is great!!! Perfect. Better than any. His waiting for Alice at the table with the “leaky gang” is one of the film’s best scenes. All these sayings about time ... with Time in the main characters, suddenly taking on a new meaning ... only at a table with crazy people is possible, but this is no less beautiful! To that bravo!
"Thank you for your kindness!" - thank you very much!
Skeletons in the closet: Well, that's always the case - white is not so white, black (pardon, red), not so dark. And everything turns upside down, only because there was no nail in the kingdom... i.e., tup-you... one princess did not find the strength to say yes instead of no.
Of the minuses: Still do. First, the solution to Time and the whole situation is somehow incomprehensible. There was no explanation as to why it was so easy to fix what had already been broken. And the downside, alas, but even immediately after leaving the theater, I thought about how unforgivably small was the Cheshire cat. And I really wanted the Hatter to dance a jig. Yes, I agree that the Hatter is no longer the same. From the past, there is only one spark left...
Madness... we need more madness!
But anyway, for those two hours in the cinema, I felt like a fairy tale. I returned there with Alice, walked to familiar and new (the chic house of the Hatter) places, looked into the past of the heroes, understood a little more about them.
I have nothing to regret. It was a wonderful two hours of time in my life. Not killed, not wasted...just wonderful! Thank you very much for that!
If you’re thinking of finding something from Alice Carroll in the movie, it’s unlikely you’ll succeed. The story is about the book, just as the hammer is about the chicken. Here we get the opportunity to go back in time and see how the heroes of the first part came to such a life.
Frankly, the plot is sluggish. There is indistinct morality in the spirit of even the smallest action leads to great consequences. So is the lax attempt to impose the view that family is the most important thing in life. This is Disney.
The most absurd thing happens at the end. And even postman Pechkin with his famous: Why was I angry before? "Because I didn't have a bicycle." - looks more convincing than the problems of two queens.
The new characters will not be shown to us with a few exceptions, which by the way pleased us. Same queens, Hatter, rabbits, twins. But there was an interesting and colorful character Time and his assistants unfinished transformers.
Speaking of queens. Red and white. If in that part of the film Red seemed just evil by nature, then in this part she was made infantile, capricious and just offended. This change did not benefit the character. The white queen was like a vegetable, an autistic character, here she degenerated even more. No interest in the character, no acting. You could dress a mannequin in white, and he would have played even better than Anne Hathaway.
Like I said, the live actors were sluggish. And there was this weird feeling of computer characters playing better than many actors. If there is the next part, you can replace all the actors with computer characters, the picture will not lose, and maybe even gain.
I can, I'm crazy!
So you can describe not only the game of many actors, but also what is happening on the screen. When the film began and the first shots appeared, the thought arose: was this the session or was I on the unannounced sequel to Pirates of the Caribbean? Better than that. Maybe the film should have ended in a psychiatric hospital?
Depp is not the same anymore
Apparently, the stellar years are over. If before everyone went to see his characters, now I am ready to give any money just to not see him. Instead of pulling the picture out of the abyss, the Hatter with his sluggish play, creepy makeup and inappropriate curves drives the film where the sun does not shine.
Time flies!
Time and Sacha Baron Cohen pleasantly pleased and somehow brought to life the farce on the screen. If Depp drowned the picture, then the new face, in the person of the anthropomorphic creature of Time, attracted to the screen and whipped up, albeit briefly, boredom. The charismatic character seemed to get even more screen time than Depp. And this of course pleased, Sasha did not fall into the dirt face and made a harsh gentleman find the film.
Special effects and computer graphics.
That’s not much you can see in the movie. Surreal terrain, the flow of time, everything looks pretty damn good. You can sit back in a chair and put a picture on the screen. Although the environment and the world, in my opinion, were more alive and absurd in Burtonavska, the first part, which had a great resemblance to the Carroll world of Alice.
Results.
I do not know for whom this film is intended if I only periodically began to get bored, then the children sitting next to me got bored completely and irrevocably already in the middle of the picture, and tormented their parents with only one question: is the end soon?
The picture is a passing, for one view. The plot is sucked out of the finger and simply exploits the Alice brand without contacting the original book source. With the same success, you can wait for the third part of “Alice and Pupzemele”...
And I really liked the film. A great adventure movie. Bright, colorful, seasoned with good humor and an important idea about the right values of life.
Interesting, not an empty plot. It is really interesting to watch Alice grow up, who at some point is ready to turn away from miracles and start looking at life more soberly and rationally. But thank God she is saved from this fateful mistake by a Mad Laker gang from Wonderland, and the adventure begins!
Incredibly captivating travel Alice through time, beautiful metaphor time-sea. A very correct message carries a new, magnificent character Time (Sacha Baron Cohen - bravo!) Bright, extraordinary, charismatic hero he turned out. Well, the scene with a tea party in a duet with the Hatter and his friends made us all roll with laughter!
About other heroes - the Hatter is not the same as before, very soulful and touching, and still insanely kind and vulnerable. A little reminded Willy Wonka (which is quite justified, because there the same theme rises in the film and the character goes through similar experiences). In general, I didn’t see what they like to scold Johnny Depp. I think it's pretty good.
The White and Red Queens open from a new side. There is no more unambiguity and plane in them. I really liked the idea of sort of rationalizing who these characters are. Perhaps this loses some of the fabulous, but nevertheless a great message for young viewers for the future - nothing happens without a reason, and the worst-looking person can be vulnerable inside.
In general, I liked the film because although the plot seems obvious, but everything is beautifully done, and it is interesting and pleasant to watch the development of events. At the same time, the film is not empty, but carries a lot of good ideas that are very important for everyone to assimilate from an early age. So it will be interesting and useful for children to watch the film, and adults just like it.
P.S. What are Alice’s dresses? Look at you!
After watching in the theater the first part 'Alice', I returned to this film many times. Wonderful story, chic cast and favorite characters
But the second part, 'Alice in the Looking Glass' did not leave the same positive emotions in me. I’m extremely sorry for the death of Alan Rickman, who has done this film and many others, he’s one of my favorite actors, but it didn’t turn out very well.
I noticed in the second part of this colorful and strange film that the actors were extremely playful, at least in the beginning, until the climax came. In addition, the plot of the film does not coincide with the book . I often don’t mind such fictions, for example in 'The Hobbit' where the work was clearly not enough for film adaptation, but here the situation is different. Some kind of cheap animation that came up at times put me in a state of shock. I may, of course, find fault, but after such a beautiful and exciting first part, I have the right to strictly judge the second, as many (and, of course, I) constantly do.
But the film, however, turned out not bad, I advise you to go or watch after going online, but I said everything I wanted about the minuses of this film.
I loved the moment with the mental hospital, because I am a lover of such things, and the unexpected appearance of Andrew Scott was extremely pleased. And, of course, such strange events and phrases typical of 'Alice', did not leave me indifferent to this film.
In general, I give the second part 'Alice' 6 points out of 10. Yeah, that's not what I was expecting.
What did I expect from this movie? I expected half the session to sit with my mouth open and greedily catch every moment. In the end, I was not disappointed or regretted the time and money spent, but I didn’t get what I wanted. But let's start in order. . .
Acting, hard four. Everyone played interestingly, but in my opinion, something was missing.
History. It was interesting to watch the Hollywood interpretation 'Alice in the Looking Glass' the story itself turned out to be quite touching and instructive.
Special effects at a very high level, everything is done very beautifully and magnificently drawn, so you can put 5 + for special effects.
However, despite such a flattering assessment, after leaving the cinema, there was no feeling that you were still in Alice’s world (as happens, after watching films that capture you completely) or even a feeling that you want to watch this film again.
If you want to watch a light, beautiful movie in the company of your children or a loved one, then Alice in Wonderland you really like, but if you want something more, you should think about whether you want to watch this film.
Admit it, 'Alice in the Looking Glass' James Bobin before its premiere did not drag to the cinema. Feature films based on the famous fairy tales from the powerful studio 'Disney' are incompatible with my preferences in cinema. But after seeing the trailer to the sounds of the hypnotic and legendary song Jefferson Airplane, I decided to make unplanned expenditures related to the 3D format. Ironically, it was 'White Rabbit' that led me to the film.
Alas, 'White Rabbit' completely satisfied only hearing. The film has its drawbacks and pros, but the appearance of the sequel only 6 years later could not but play a role. At 6 years old, the child is already going to school. Over the past 6 years, Anne Hathaway received the award 'Oscar', and Johnny Depp received several notable box office failures. A peculiar return to the fairy tale, judging by the box office, showed that the return was in reality. In reality, when Johnny Depp’s seemingly invincible reputation got another crack, many were worried about the fifth ones.
Funny, although the hero of Johnny Depp is one of the central characters of the picture, the whole ' dirty work' poor Alice does for him. All these friends from the previous film in the person of the Cheshire Cat, the White Queen and others really served as a backdrop for the misadventures of the brave girl. Their function was to encourage and continually gather in a group, while Alice fervently reveals the ideas of feminism. The depression of the Hatter is unambiguously associated with the current state of affairs of the actor who played him. Therefore, the Hatter appears, but he is no longer Mad. Max ...
With all this, it is impossible not to note the stormy palette of bright colors that make up the recognizable world of Hollywood Alice: motley and brilliant. Imagining can also be a double (?) ocean, consisting of waves of the past. It was shot, of course, wisely and spectacularly. Brightest of all plays his party Helena Bonham Carter, who is not used to portray eccentric females. By the way, in the presence of characters Johnny Depp and Sacha Baron Cohen her character was responsible for most of the humor. Deliberate caricature Iracebet gave hands Helena Bonham Carter ' good maps' so that the audience saw a truly surreal creature with characteristic manners in behavior.
Like its predecessor, 'Alice in the Looking Glass' justifies the undeniable quality of many blockbusters of the summer season: a good spectacular movie that will be forgotten in a month and which is unlikely to want to see again in the near future. A film that is unlikely to be in the annals of history to be talked about always. Also in the light of the so-called original projects ('Maleficent', 'Cinderella', 'Beauty and the Beast'), the sequel 'Alice in Wonderland' in this line looks 'foreign body' .
Here comes June. An amazing month of sequels of well-known and not-so projects. They will be better 'Alice in the Looking Glass' or not, we will know very soon.
From my point of view, if Disney is the creator of the film, then it is almost one hundred percent doomed to success. After all, such a large-scale film company will not risk losing its credibility before a multimillion-dollar audience by signing up for a low-quality project. Therefore, without a doubt, I, taking with me a pop corn, entered the cinema and settled in a chair.
And this time, the top-priority film company in my view didn't disappoint. More spectacular and bright work Disney has not yet done, in its decoration, it surpassed even the first part. I didn't think the colors would get any juicier, the action even more spectacular than Alice in Wonderland. This film really surpassed itself, showed everything that was possible, did the impossible.
“Alice in the Looking Glass” is not a case where actors are allowed to reach their full potential, since almost (but not everything) in this film is not feelings, but actions. So what can I say about acting? Probably only that the actors of this film I will not be able to imagine in another role, that for me they will always remain residents of Wonderland, ready to surprise us again and again.
I will not hide, the ending was solved by me almost from the very beginning, but this fact did not prevent me from continuing to fully enjoy the viewing, because I was afraid to miss even the slightest detail. But I was struck by the finale! It carries so many feelings, so much meaning, it contains everything that people still can not understand, because it was not about a separate world, all the problems and ideas revealed in the film concern all of us. There's no point in hiding from you that in the last few minutes I couldn't hold back my tears. Those who wrote the last lines of the heroes about the most important, without which we are people – no one, and things – nothing, deserve a response of the souls of the audience to their calls.
I can confidently say that I will admire this work more than once, that more than once from my lips acquaintances will hear quotes from the heroes of this film, that Alice in the Looking Glass will be my eternal companion, and it will show me more than once that the impossible is possible!
9 out of 10
They were missing. The first part in the movie did not work out, and, as you know, what you see on the TV screen and in the cinema - a completely different feeling. The whole film, especially at the beginning, couldn't get used to that hyper-realism. But in general, I am happy with the viewing, because this colored madness is very addictive!
Plot? The plot is beautiful! This movie grew up with the main character. It also reveals the characters of the Hatter, the Red Queen and the White Queen. We learned a lot more about them, found causal relationships with why they are.
The past cannot be changed, but we can draw conclusions from it. And this is true! Dreaming is not about going back to the past, it is not in our power. But we can change the future, building on our experience and following our dreams.
We have one family. Spending time on each other is wrong. If you messed up, apologize. You'll be heard. And you need to remember that in this case it is not too late. The earlier, the less suffering there will be.
Characters. I didn't really believe the suffering Hatter, nor did I always believe Alice herself. In some places, I was still annoyed by Miran, but I really liked the red-haired and arrogant Hamish and his family, Mr. Time with his charming gears, a completely crazy doctor (Moriarty), and such touching King and Queen, parents of Mirana and Irotibeta. And (probably this will be the only name of the actor) I want to note: Richard Armitage is the ideal king - kind and fair, and most importantly - wise, real!
Yes, the film may look artificial in some places, but in the end it is a different reality. Reality with mirrors to another world, talking butterflies and rabbits, growing-buns and shrinks. But in any reality, family, time, life, death, and the ability to forgive remain unchanged.
It turned out to be such a happy, touching and wise family tale. Which makes me very happy. And maybe the dynamics of the first part could not be repeated, but it is not necessary here. Because it's the other Alice.
