Today I had the opportunity to see a new picture of the much respected Disney Studio & #39; Alice in the Looking Glass & #39; The film left a double feeling. I’ve been waiting a long time for the continuation of Tim Burton’s story, which, by the way, I liked quite a bit, despite the gloom and surrealism. There was a good script, great actors, great camera work, as always, but it wasn’t perfect. I was hoping that the mistakes made in the first picture would go away. So what was the end result? Boring, tedious, with a limping script on both legs, a passerby. Did he disappoint me? Yes! I was pleased with the rich picture, more juicy and colorful than in the last film about Alice. I liked the game and the selection of actors, but sometimes infuriated all the theatricality of what was happening. Anne Hathaway still languidly spreads her arms, and Johnny Depp tries to show the madman. And, yes, this film has already been vilified by everyone who is not lazy, I can only add from myself: I recommend this film only to ardent fans of Disney Studio and the franchise about Alice and her crazy friends.
I really understand not so much that the high rating of “Alice” and a significant percentage of negative reviews, already now. Because...
Absolutely unknown to me director (and this, for a moment, is not our Tim Burton), plus the writer known for the first part, mixed a wild vinaigrette in the plot, not being able to come up with anything new since 2010, but guided by the principle “with the world on the string – it seems, somehow will come down.” Already in the first frames, an attentive viewer will make a time travel to 2005 (and earlier) and involuntarily wait for the Flying Dutchman to appear because of the turn ... but - chu! - we are not on one of the parts of Pirates of the Caribbean, but the brave captain girl offering to run aground from pirates, not even Elizabeth Swan. The setting is rapidly changing, and the viewer is already in London, where Alice Kingsley experiences the problems and difficulties of any independent girl from pseudo-Victorian novels, such as the Sally Lockhart series. Time travel to change the past, seasoned with the admonition “not to meet yourself” – and fans of “Doctor Who” along with fans of the trilogy “Back to the Future” roll their eyes in boredom. Only some examples that catch your eye immediately, not because you want to find flaws. Many, many trivialities and template plot twists characteristic of almost every first film, regardless of its genre: the main character realizes what is important to her, and does the right thing in the end; a mother who does not support her daughter, and then suddenly understood her; a strict father who is actually proud of his child and keeps memorabilia; heroes who are not uniquely dark or light and enmity that arose out of nonsense.
What is happening lacks the epicity of the first part. And although the chosen girls, capable of defeating a terrible evil, are tired, it would be more interesting to watch another global battle of Alice, and not this “ragged” quest – for its success you do not worry much, the ultimate goal sometimes forgets and somehow everything... rather small?
It seems that the creators really played with time: otherwise how to explain that the film is long, and it feels, but at the same time there is a feeling that it is missing another forty minutes. Only a lot happens (and it even captivates), but the events are not painted, and the scenes seem to be cut off: Alice must make her way through the huge pendulums that swing unsynchronously, here she jumps on the first, and the next frame - Alice has passed all the obstacles; Alice steals a carriage with horses - in the next frame she already got to the estate in the morning, do not chase, nothing; the heroes decided to release the prisoners, sat down - and immediately came where you need. And so it is.
With all this, the characters, except the main character, screen time with a gulkin nose. The White Queen, Trulyal and Trailal, the March Hare, the White Rabbit, Sonya, the chic Cheshire cat - all get into a pile, the same pile moves and gets into trouble. No one was allowed to show themselves - most, except perhaps the Queens, are present for proforma and connection with the previous film. Even the Hatter, who, as it were, is one of the main characters of the story, is on the second roles.
A lot of good actors are stated...whether anyone played hard is a moot point. Johnny Depp is clearly tired of inadequate heroes, his character is lost somewhere between Jack Sparrow and Ville Wonka (by the way, the personal story of the Hatter is very reminiscent of Wonka’s relationship with his father... apparently for a reason). Tired, so I didn't try. Mia Wasikowska was not required much. Sacha Baron Cohen, the image, surprisingly, went. The appearance of Richard Armitage and Andrew Scott was a surprise to me, and their cameos – as a kind of irony over their own images in The Hobbit and Sherlock – looked strange.
But visual is good. Now they will not surprise anyone, but 3D, coupled with bright views of the Magic Country and temporary twists, made you look into all eyes. The advantages include scenes-references to the original (the collection of Humpty Dumpty, the appearance of a mirror with a fireplace as in Tenniel’s drawings). Cookie for fans and connoisseurs of Carroll, only such moments are few. It is a pity that the film is designed for young children - they will not notice the flaws and patterns, but they will be carried away by a beautiful picture and all sorts of "miracles". But, on the other hand, the tying and heaviness of some moments can be quite depressing for them. In “Alice” very little humor and jokes – even the small audience in the hall giggled only a few times.
Why is the review color green? I haven't been to a movie in a long time. I did not expect much from the second part, because the first one was not very memorable and did not impress, so there was no disappointment. Immerse yourself in history and forget about the real world behind colorful pictures turned out - it means that time was not in vain, and the film as an exclusively entertaining spectacle took place. And the dedication to Alan Rickman at the end.
No evaluations.
It was a pleasure to relive the adventure with Alice in 6 years.
The strongest nostalgia was caused by the musical accompaniment, from which goosebumps passed through the skin in a wave. I think I should not even stutter about how much joy I was caused by meeting with my favorite heroes!
The screenplay was brighter than “Alice in Wonderland” by Tim Burton. Of course, this is influenced by the change of director, and the circumstances in which Alice finds herself this time.
The brilliant play of Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Mia Wasikowski, Johnny Depp and, of course, Sacha Baron Cohen again forces the viewer to plunge into the stunning atmosphere of madness.
Sacha Baron Cohen was especially pleased with the role of Time. With the help of his amazing charm, facial expressions, piercing look and acting skills, he surprisingly harmoniously fit into this crazy world.
As always, costume designers tried, but makeup artists decided to relax a little at the end of the film on the image of the Hatter. A little overdone with the design of the eyes.
Problems about the attitude of a person to his family, by the time raised in “Alice in the Looking Glass”, albeit known to everyone without watching the film, but “Alice” also encourages you to think about them.
I was happy with the film. He is very kind, what a fairy tale should be. However, this tale left a slight feeling of sadness inside at the end. I won't spoil it. Anyone who saw the first part, anyone who watches Alice in the Looking Glass will understand me.
10 out of 10
So, I want to say that this is one of the most long-awaited films of both small and adult people.
First of all, I want to note, as always, the wonderful game of Johnny Depp, he never ceases to amaze with his skill to embody in the role. In this picture, we notice a hatter in a different emotional activity, which is very interesting to observe. There is also a new and no less interesting character 'Time' which is also fascinating with its game. Alice remains a fabulous and unusually funny character throughout the film.
I also wanted to notice the appearance of Andrew Scott in a secondary role, it was unexpected and at the same time exciting.
The story itself is, of course, known to every person and I see no point in describing it. I advise every lover of fairy tales to watch the sequel 'Alice'
Alice Kingsley has grown up. Rejecting the boring life of a prim English lady, refusing an offer to an inflated fool Parrish, Alice followed in the footsteps of her father and spent several years circumnavigating the world. Then I went back to London. And then it became known that the beautiful, abstract world of a fairy-tale country has not forgotten about it.
In this part, the main character Alice will have to go back to the Wonderland & #39 to save her friend the Mad Hatter. She will have to travel back in time, where many surprises will await her. She will meet Time itself, she will have to fight Iracebeta and much more.
Mia Wasikowska (Alice), as always, played her role at the height. She was able to show grief, joy, and even anger. I also really liked how this part shows her courage, perseverance, perseverance. She never gave up, even when she didn't believe in winning, she tried to believe. Johnny Depp (The Hatter), Helena Bonham Carter (Iracebeta), Anne Hathaway (Mirana) and others also played well, but did not differ much, since in this part the emphasis was placed on the main character. The plot is pretty fully disclosed. I found it very interesting, better than the first one. The scenery was as good as the first one. I liked the time castle, it is very beautiful, and the idea of the moment where Time (Sacha Baron Cohen) takes people’s lives is original, I really liked it. Again, the special effects also do not limp, as in the first part, there is nothing to complain about.
Below is a small spoiler!!
I could not help but note this illogical point: at the end, when Alice ran to the right place to leave the chronosphere to return time to normal, she does not have time to put it and freezes, as if in rust, which appeared after Iracebeta violated the rules of using time travel. However, somehow the chronosphere still gets to the right place from the hands of Alice. Where's the logic? How? Everyone thought that there would finally be an interesting ending, where almost for the first time evil conquers good, but whether I did not understand something, or James Bobin wanted otherwise.
Above a small spoiler!
The film was good, but one illogical moment ruined my judgment. Overall, I liked it, there is something that is aimed at in the next part, but for now
Contradiction of expectations = Contradiction of estimates
As in the film, I will make a small digression into the past:
When he saw the first part six years ago, he was stunned by the barbarism created over the Great Original Source of Dodgson (Carroll). It killed everything except the quality of the picture, the work on the costumes and the soundtrack. Especially baffled by the selection of the actress, for the main role. Anyone who knows the original will know what I mean. After all, certainly Dear Mia Wasikowska looked in the role of Alice about the same as Whoopi Goldberg would look in the role of the Snow Queen. But it was through her and already to the second third 'Wonderland' - suddenly dawned! It's Disney!!! Calquering and following the original here is a rare case. Everything is done just like nothing more than a version. A Disney version that owes nothing to anyone but Spectacle in exchange for Emotions, and the most positive Cash, of course. Moreover, conformity to the original at Disney is deliberately avoided in order to give new breath to what is already known by heart and avoid boredom, as well as the inevitable fan quibbles to ' commas'. 'Alice' but, being in itself a few ' strange' than just ' marvelous' the story about, for example, the canonical Snow White and the relentless number of its dwarves, since the dawn of a known race - much more plastic. She is ready for metamorphoses, ruzgul of fantasy and revolutions of everything and everything upside down. Yes, ideas and reflections on the fundamental mathematical problems and problems of quantum physics with a Disney approach are not particularly laid, but Einstein is no longer with us. Would he like the film as much as he once did – a book that was extremely popular with many of the most famous and quite adult physicists and mathematicians at that time? You can’t ask Charles (Lewis) about his attitude to hydroperite experiments & #39; on his little darling and the Liddell family in general. Theoretically. And according to once denied guesses, yes rumors ...
So, how Disney Spectacle and the light shadow of Burton’s enchanting approach to, so differently, a serious break from the serious – ' Wonderland' was more than just a success. At least Burton himself and ' behind the brackets'. And the 2-layer soundtrack was flawless both in its background and in 'pop' duplicity. The crowd demanded more!
And she got it in the form of 'Through the Looking Glass' In advance - with all the reservations and remarks, which, especially high-quality & #39; critics on percentage of salary & #39; as usual - again steamed, rolling caterpillars of their armored awareness of everything and all but themselves, the Great. However, the topic of severe evolutionary necessity in paid critics and marketers, in any sane society that claims the Future is a separate topic.
': I'd rather be quiet, thought Alice. It is better to keep quiet - thought & #39;.
Back to 'The Looking Glass'
Great sight, for family viewing. Preferably in Imax, because without full special effects will largely fade. As well as without familiarization with the first part - will lose many logical connections and references, which are so not too rich.
The picture is at the top. The scenes of the storm and the clock are perfect, the rest are not far behind either. Everything went almost without feeling too much with comp. graphics, with the exception of 'Makeup' Depp.
Costumes are great. Only the positioning is not on the audience 12+, and just the opposite, in places. Like 'Chinese outfit' Alice.
The writer and director, in my opinion, were rarely sober, or mentally and socially adequate. Due to the specificity of the material, the quality is almost not affected. Let them live. Scenes: Farewell (with Time and the Hatter), Tea Party with Proverbs about Time, Dialogue with Mother and Doctor, Storm, Chasing Through Time, and almost all other scenes where Helena Bonham also had at least a word, or well, a kiss on the paw & #39; Bunnies Barmaglotik' - luxurious also in terms of acting. They did what they expected and more.
Both Queens and their personal story as a bonus are great. Carter is inimitable.
Time is good, although Cohen, to the former heights of the same Depp - a long way.
Depp himself, again played Depp and he clearly got tired of it for a long time. It worked, but you can see it through force. Again, the material allowed this.
Alice - Mia has grown up and no longer looks like a dust bag-hit teenager from the mid-zero years. But she looks like a mature and wonderful Actress, with a capital letter in everything that has touched since.
Supporting actors are good. Steadily and smoothly worked out the required, without protrusions and failures, with a couple of exceptions that can be safely neglected.
Sound – That’s the only thing I wanted to get a score or three for (if it had gone the way it was in the trailers). But there was clearly a successful result of a difficult compromise of all involved, the complexity and riskiness of which must be objectively understood. Masterpieces are not born from molds in factories and there is a high risk that Danny Elfman will write instead of the beautiful theme of Alice, from the first part - some standard ' Epic Bullshit', stunning with all the power of symphonic nonsense in the echo of the absence of any memorable melody, a la OST ' Ender's Games' Even Hans Zimmer, it happened - more than once got into a quite good idea with a similar one, dooming it to death in the first place with just such ' EpiFignism'. Music in an entertaining film is a good third, and sometimes much more. That’s why I think the choice of an easy modernization of the old music theme, instead of risking failure with the new one, was right. It would be extremely disappointing to be overwhelmed with so much effort and expectation by an unfortunate variation of the selection of just seven notes, in fact. But with the second layer, made of songs from recognizable and promoted artists, it turned out easier. 'One for all' - valiantly and unflappably stood Pink. Not to say, of course, that was able to completely replace the former Shinedown, Avril and others, but in the animation of the final credits sounded very worthy! I can’t say anything about the original video, unfortunately. But the speech above was not about him.
Oh, yeah! Sure! I watched with my youngest daughter! She is delighted, has no comments and at the age of 7 she does not bother to comment, but carefully waits for the release of an official disc with the film. To the collection, to the envy of the older brother, who is now in the Army and from there - ' I want Cheshire too!!!'.
You can argue a lot, but on that she and 'Alice' that:
': Where can I find someone normal? “Nowhere,” replied the cat, “is normal.” Everyone is so different and different. And that, I think, is fine.'
Why do some people like to look for morality everywhere? ?
So we waited for the birth of Alice in the mirror for six years. After the masterpiece of the first part, probably many expected more, or even rather we were waiting for the same mirror from Lewis Carroll. We can definitely say that it is very, very distant from the original fairy tale, but there is one big BUT. No matter how the plot of the fairy tale about Alice changes, she always has a moral!
Perhaps this is what made this story about a girl with a wild imagination special.
A bit about the main characters:
Alice (Mia Wasikowska), at the beginning of the film clearly shows that our Alice grew up and does not believe that the family of the hatter can be somehow saved, she does not even give any hope, she simply does not believe! With the development of the plot, our main character develops, she grows and decreases, risks, returns in time, she believes, she regrets!
Insanely pleased the hero 'Time', played by Sacha Baron Cohen. Again, I liked the development of this character ' I thought time is our enemy, time kills us', ' Time shamelessly robs us.' Is that true? Does time wish us bad? It just does its job, it gives birth, accompanies and buries us. It is very fleeting and, as Alice realized at the end, you need to appreciate and love it, every minute, every second, every breath and exhale, every moment. She gave her father’s time, isn’t it to love?
' They say that time is indifferent to everything. But I'll always remember you. Just please don't come back.'
Time does not hurt us, but it does not heal us. This is clearly seen in the example of the evil queen (played by the incomparable Helena Bonham Carter). For so many years, she could not forget her sister Mirana’s childhood resentment and seemingly nonsense lies. For so long she thought she was abandoned and unloved.
I don’t know why this movie has so many negative reviews and it’s a story that touched my heart. Under this film is a pronounced signature
I don’t know why this movie has had so many negative reviews and my heart is touched by this story. Under this film clearly stands the signature of Tim Burton and he as always did ' a little' in his own way, added a drop of magic to his and there is a little crazy picture.
Hence the moral: seconds at the speed of light add up to minutes, minutes and hours and hours for a lifetime! We simply have no right to throw away this time. Love to give it away! Give yourself and your time... Only what we give will last forever. . . Dream. . . Isn't that the point?
'In the castle of fantasies, where dreams live, we will see each other more than once.
- But dreams are not reality. . .
- Who distinguishes one from the other?'
Hey, everybody. This is my review of the film 'Alice in the Looking Glass' .
A little background.
In 2010, Tim Burton, known for his unusual views on the world, made the film "Alice in Wonderland" & #39; The film was filled with politics and battles, but the film was not disgusted and quite beautiful in terms of visualization. I'm not talking about crazy fees. Oh yeah! I got two more Oscars! For what?! For 'Best Costume' and for 'Best Performance by Production Artists'! I would argue here, of course, but I am not a film academic and the price of my opinion is 3 cents, or even less. But I was distracted.
The film itself
The film is beautiful, but something is missing. I miss Tim Burton so much as a director (he’s just a producer in this movie). Now the director is someone James Bobin, who, so far, nothing particularly famous in terms of cinema, not noted. The plot of the movie is rather strange. Alice, after a long period of time after the victory over Jabberwock, returns to Wonderland to see the Hatter, who remembered his now deceased parents. All of a sudden, I remembered. Do you feel the triviality of the plot? Me too.
However, there are certain advantages in the film:
1) The cast. I’m not going to list all the actors, because if you saw the previous movie, you know who was there. The lineup hasn't changed. Just added to it. Even Absolem was voiced by the same Alan Rickman, Kingdom of Heaven to Him.
2 The visual component . This is a plus, which in the previous film was very good.
3 Sacha Baron Cohen as Sir Time I never would have thought he was capable of such a thing (I think right away 'The Brothers from Grimsby. His time was sarcastic and in general was just beautiful and every scene with him is definitely cool.
The result: the film is beautiful, but has the plot, which, in fact, turns out to be the most complete puff and does not catch .
I would like to put a good one, but I am one of those people who will not tolerate a puffy story and therefore:
6 out of 10
Look, but only if you're a fan of the previous movie.
Six years ago, the film ' Alice in Wonderland' was released under the direction of a director whose work can not be confused with anyone, Tim Barton. It was a real fairy tale, albeit authorially gloomy, where there was magic, talking flowers, changes in growth, magical potions, disappearing and reappearing cat.
More recently, another film about Alice was released in theaters, although already under the guidance of the director, whose name is new in the Hollywood film industry, James Bobin, who allocated $ 170 million for the creation of the film. The money invested is really justified: the star cast, graphics, costumes, shooting, sound – all together created the illusion of a delightful film masterpiece, but if you dig deeper, the storyline and the story of the characters remained one of the most banal and inappropriate. The world of magic, where the most impossible things happen, suddenly turns into a world where everyone has his own childhood trauma, complexes, clamps and tragedies, leaving his characters without a bit of miracle or inefficiency.
And if these stories were well played, they could be treated condescendingly or even with understanding, but the remorse of the Hatter, the White and the Red Queen is horribly trivial and mistreated. Although we all understand that Hollywood screenwriters rarely create entertaining and fascinating dialogues filled with logic and meaning, so it is not necessary to demand from them supernatural work done - everything is average, as usual, but I wanted to feel something sharp and fresh in this fairy tale. But, alas, the audience was deprived of this. Very sorry.
The most boring character, which dilutes the freshness of the film becomes the newly introduced hero Time. He with the first scene attracts his attention with charisma, self-esteem, smell, but sometimes he sparkled excessive pathos. The episode with his participation, which tells why the Hatter & #39; and the company & #39; forever stuck in time to drink tea, was very successfully played and spelled out. It was one of the strongest scenes, diluting a rather dry film.
The role of Alice in this part becomes not as voluminous as in the past, although even so, but it is quite noticeable that the acting of the girl since the days of #39; Wonderland' quite improved. Although it is difficult to single out the main character in this picture, since a part of the film was allocated for each, it is impossible not to note that Alice has learned correctly and correctly ' to serve ' herself, or rather her heroine - the vaunted captain of the ship, fighting for the life of a friend and looking for her true 'I'.
The film contains the right and serious idea that everyone should be tempted to be themselves regardless of any life circumstances and difficulties, always remember who you really are, so this work is ideal for spending time with family and children.
I just came back from seeing this picture. Rarely does a second movie get better than the first one! And 'Alice in the Looking Glass ' a vivid example of this exception.
What?
Bright, dynamic, unpredictable - perhaps this is what distinguishes ' Looking Glass from ' Wonderland'. Maybe because Tim Burton was replaced by James Bobin, and the faded tones were replaced by saturated colors. The picture does not let go for a second - tension and dynamics from the very beginning to the end keep the bar of a quality adventure genre. However, its main advantage is its strong semantic load, which was not noticeable in the previous film. ' Wonderland' introduces us to the characters of Burton and immerses us in the atmosphere 'Alice' thus being a good springboard for creating a sequel, although it seemed to be a finished work.
Honestly, when I saw the new movie, I was surprised. I didn't expect such a turn. And what happened?
Yeah. All ' Alice ' was in ' Looking Glass '. Her feelings, decisions, life position - everything is revealed in this picture. Strongly in the format of a fairy tale.
What will we see in ' Looking Glass'?
High-quality humor, bright picture, already well-known characters, as well as interesting details of their past merged into one dynamic stream, interesting and exciting, as I mentioned earlier, without letting the viewer go for a second.
Sometimes it seemed to me that the events in the film, the so-called “Butterfly Effect” 39, were too strange and childish. But every time I think about it, I think it's Wonderland, and it's not surprising that a couple of fallen crumbs gave me the whole story of the first part. Hence the lies of Miranda, and the huge head that the Hatter once wanted to use with inspiration.
Only, the company led by Cheshire could be more often shown. However, it did not affect my impressions, and they are the best!
I advise everyone to see this piece! You won't regret it!
... - When will I meet you?
- Not soon ... it will be years.
- When you’re younger and I’ll be older!
- There is no logic to this.
- It makes sense to me...
And indeed, in this film, which, it would seem, does not even pretend to logic, in fact everything is logical, you just need to look from a different angle.
Alice is already a familiar heroine, but she has already grown up and even became the captain of the ship in her ordinary, real world. However, inside her still lives the belief in miracles and fairy tales. And it is in these miracles and fairy tales that Alice escapes, as soon as serious problems begin in her life, or rather she escapes to the whole country, already familiar to the viewer, populated again by all known characters. It's just the Hatter thing. The craziest of Alice’s friends fell seriously ill... well, how seriously, in general, of the symptoms on the face of melancholy, smoothly turning into a prolonged depression, general depression and some detachment and emptiness. That is, no cough, no temperature, but, apparently, in the Underground melancholy and the lack of a smile are considered more serious ailments. Naturally, the firm intention of Alice to help results in a new adventure, however, this time the heroine will travel not on her own two, but in all respects on the magical chronosphere, which she previously stole ... that is, she will borrow for use from Time itself.
And yes, Time is a full-fledged and very high-quality character. And this very character plays a very incomprehensible role, he is like a villain, because almost the whole film Alice runs away from him, but also he and someone like a wise adviser. Let Mr. Time look comic in some places, but he knows the price for himself, and his goal is noble - to restore the course of the Eternal Clock. But here is the bad luck, the other inhabitants of the Underground seem not to think about the integrity of fragile temporal matter.
And everything happens in a very illogical scenario: The hatter has gone into himself, and therefore he must be urgently rescued, moreover, he almost demands the return of his poor relatives from Alice, and she readily plunges into a new adventure. Sweet animals and the White Queen herself do nothing special and important for the entire adventure and do not do at all, the Red Queen again wants the crown and retribution and preferably everything at once, and only Time is busy with an important thing.
And then what is the meaning of all this bright buffoon, if all the misfortunes occur solely because of the empty and unreasonable whims of the main characters? And there is a meaning, but not on the surface, but very deep inside, or rather directly in the inner world of the heroine, which, in fact, can be considered the Wonderland itself and its inhabitants.
If we talk about the real life of Alice Kingsley, then we see that the girl got into a clearly difficult situation – she remains without everything, and even no one can just understand her. In general, she begins a banal depression, because the girl loses her place in life, awareness of her self. No one can help her, so we act according to the proven scheme “Help yourself!” This is what Alice does – she, like the Hatter, goes into herself, not to give herself to melancholy, but to understand. Alice wants to save the Hatter, but in fact she saves herself, or rather the part of herself that is responsible for unusual vision, creativity and fantasies.
If you take for granted that the whole Wonderland is the inner world of Alice, then there is some reflection and self-therapy of the heroine, only in a fabulous, processed variation. That is, all the inhabitants of the Underground are just personified manifestations of the girl’s psyche. I think the ones that have a human appearance are something like Alice’s alter ego. So, the Hatter is a fantasy, creative and non-standard thinking, both queens are something like two extreme manifestations of female essences (from cute and airy White to imperious, capricious Red). Wonder-beasts-helpers (which, however, are in many fairy tales) are less vivid phenomena of inner life, but still important. For example, the charming Cheshire is quite similar to the manifestation of the unconscious, which either affects the plot and the characters, then disappears at its whim. Cheshire (unconscious) often helps to look at things differently, helps to see the invisible, that is, in some sense removes barriers (you can say mental), helps to think wider.
Another humanized image is Time. This gentleman is exactly as Alice sees him. In her real world, Ms. Kingsley speaks of time being cruel and stealing from us. In fact, this is how she finds him in her inner world – Wonderland. And his servants are curious: seconds, they are so small, quite fearless, even cute, but how they gather in minutes - natural monsters! For Alice, time seemed sinister, and so it was projected into her subconscious – a terrible monster, born of her. And when these minute monsters also began to chase after her - the picture became complete: I wanted a cruel and merciless time - I got it!
But if it's a fairy tale, the end is good. Alice dealt with her inner difficulties, saved her ability to dream in the person of the Hatter, even tried on two queens (now the character of the heroine has become more harmonious, since one of her entities at least temporarily stopped trying to seize control of the other). Alice even reconciled with Time.
Yes, you can take the adventures of Alice literally, but we can assume that the girl sat under a chair, something muttering about the atmosphere - the chronosphere. It doesn’t matter as much as it really was, it’s important that no matter what adventure Alice went through, external or internal, she eventually found harmony with herself. After all, even free navigation, the ship "Miracle", the role of captain - a kind of hints of bold and free navigation on the seas of life, now understood in herself Alice again mistress of her fate.
And here we can understand that the logic of this story lies in the absence of logic, because you can talk about some kind of logic, since we are talking about the psyche and the inner world. Alice is eager to save her friends and the Hatter in particular, because by helping them, she is saving herself. This is her fabulous way to establish her, sometimes overly rich, inner life.
In general, the fairy-tale world of Alice Kingsley as before is bright and gothic (which is in principle incompatible, but somehow gets along here). The film even in some ways resembles an avant-garde, surreal canvas, entirely consisting of disparate pieces. This puzzle can be folded as you like – it is given to the viewer.
So let's go after the rabbit, gentlemen.
From the very beginning, I was expecting, damn it, I didn’t know what to expect. You can't just imagine Maestro Carroll's crazy world. Director James Bobin decided to try.
It definitely did. As in the first picture, directed by Mr. Burton, the fabulous, incredible, mentally incomprehensible world of the Looking Glass shines, fascinates and makes you plunge into this atmosphere. All the residents of the Looking Glass are drawn according to all the canons of Disney - qualitatively and freshly. If we talk about insanity, it is also not to occupy, although it is impossible not to deny that Tim Burton in this regard looked better. And I do not think that James Bobin so wanted ' to overcome' the famous director in the part ' pretentious'. It's useless.
Actors play. There's no point finding fault here. And I’m ready to immediately respond to the negative comments about the new bachelor Johnny Depp. Yeah, it's monotonous. But you can criticize his work in dramatic films, where he forgets to remove the grimace of Jack Sparrow. In this kind of crazy paintings like Alice in the Looking Glass, Depp fits in perfectly. Separately, I want to note the magnificent performance of Helena Bonham Carter - she was born to play the Queen of Hearts.
A little bit about the plot. In this part, we are mostly illuminated by the past of our heroes: the Hatter, the White Queen (I don’t know what she is called), and the Queen of Hearts. The plot is exciting, somewhat reminiscent of the Christmas story of Oscar Wilde.
Personally, I do not understand, but incredibly interesting character is Time. After watching the trailer, I was convinced it was a negative character. In fact, he's just a funny man and a cocksucker, for some reason pushing wedges to the Queen of Hearts. He's not gonna lose his head, he's a robot. In love? Not likely either. Pictures with crumbling time, running seconds and frightening minutes gave color and entertainment to the film, but, alas, took away the fabulous. There were too many motives for fighting and aggression. It's kind of a cartoon.
Finally, logic. She's not here. Good conquers evil, but the ending was very attached, because everyone hoped that there would be an alternative ending, that Alice would not miraculously save the whole world for the first time, but no. For unexplained reasons, a piece of the chronosphere does fall into the notch with the clock. I just don't know why. Apparently, by the magic word of Mr. Bobin, the director of the picture.
It is impossible not to mention the fact that the letter about the transfer of the ship, which Alice’s mother tried to sign with such difficulty, I understand, in a single copy. She could have torn it up at any time, but only after the poor girl had to go through the mirror and save the Hatter's parents and his entire zoo. At the beginning of the film, you could just rip this piece of paper!
This is just about logic.
In fact, such films valued just recklessness, a complete lack of meaning and understanding of what is happening. This is what Lewis Carroll tried to achieve by writing a beautiful story about a small heroine. And let all those who accuse the film that it does not correspond to the book rub off. Compare Twilight or the Maze Runner. The director of the film also has a fantasy and he offered us his version. It’s a very interesting look.
Stock up on tea and sail with Alice into uncharted worlds. It's worth it.
The movie is welcome. I watched it on the day of the premiere in full view. And I just want to say that it was unforgettably cool. At one time, I did not have time to watch Alice in Wonderland, which I regretted for a long time, but this time I decided not to miss the chance. Such a sight is worth seeing on big screens.
Johnny Depp as the hatter, as always, is matchless. Despite the fact that he is already aging and does not look the best way, the hatter he has succeeded. First of all, it is an incomparable work of make-up artists and costumers, and secondly, its impeccable play. It is still magical, fabulous, as with a vivid illustration for a children's book.
Sacha Baron Cohen also deserves a separate word. This guy has long loved me for his eccentric roles. Unfortunately, his last role was not the most successful, but with this fairy tale he rose in my eyes to the same heights from which he fell, after the premiere of the film The Brothers of Grimsby. In this film, he played Time itself. And he did it flawlessly. Again, a low bow to costumers and makeup artists. After that, the talent of the actor.
The movie looks in one breath. It has both sad moments and cheerful ones, which are difficult to keep from laughing. One of them, when Time hit the tea party. This event was very funny and exciting. Well, we memorized all the phrases thrown by the Hatter and his friends, so that after watching the film to use them in everyday situations, in order to brighten up the gray everyday life with a small pinch of humor.
To be honest, I haven’t read Carroll’s second book, and it’s hard, or even impossible, for me to compare the film to the original. But I can say with all responsibility that the plot is exciting. Throughout the film, in principle, as in the first part, the viewer is completely given to experiences for the main character - Alice. I would recommend this film for family viewing with children. Because his ending is naive, but still instructive. It would be useful for children to absorb this message of forgiveness, friendship, family.
Summing up, I will say that the picture is worthy and if you are an ordinary viewer and do not think of yourself as a critic, then you should not pay attention to dubious negative reviews. They refer rather to a professional audience, to those who not only spend their free evenings in the cinema, but who work in this industry or dream of working there. Ordinary citizens of our country will be interested in watching the adventures of the brave, no longer a girl, but a young lady Alice, who is struggling to save the Hatter's family.
10 out of 10
The new film about Alice has matured in the same way as the main character, but in no case has turned to faith, where stereotypes, cliches and predictable jokes rule. On the contrary, this fairy tale about the Looking Glass put me in a stupor. Now I doubt that the first part is much better.
What Alice can boast of today is a mind-blowing language game. Wonderful jokes here abound and they do not bother at all. Although the hall usually (for some reason) laughed more often not at them, but at the comedy of positions. By the way, she also became a worthy cut.
Alice was just the beginning. It seemed too long, because I wanted to jump into the world of miracles and enjoy a beautiful fairy tale.
As for the meaning, everything is good here. Time cannot be changed, it can only be self-sufficient. You can argue with him, because it is still possible to reconcile. In every white queen there is a little bitch, and in every red queen there is a great faith in the best. Believe in the best and do not stop going after dreams taught by Alice, along with the Hatter.
The first 'Alice' was a film that was extremely uneven, but not terrible - it had at least an original design. The trouble is that Burton, instead of cheerful absurdity, shot a Gothic fantasy with warriors and dragons, which did not collect a billion by rank and became a prerequisite for a sequel that continues experiments with genres and confirms the old stereotype about the squalidness of sequels - especially if the original is so good, and the authors' good ideas ended in its middle. There are no bad ideas for the second film.
In addition, Tim Burton distanced himself. He, who made the first blockbuster about superheroes long before the era of X-Men & #39, immediately realized what substance this Looking Glass smells like, and signed up as a producer - there is income, there is no shame. Let the director puff off 'Mappetov', a certain Bobin (not Robin and not Barabek - but so, he sticks). Well, after the elimination of the best creative unit, the rest began to equip this outlandish mitten as they can - in short, according to old patterns, for you do not know what to do - look there, you will not fail. There's a whole world around, as Alice's map says. Maybe someone is going to the movies.
But, since there are no creative forces, it is necessary to rationally spend what is left from the previous film, and play a genre change for the first time worked! If Carroll had found out that his absurdist tale would make a family drama like 'Terminator: Genesis' 39, this worthy Victorian mathematician would have laughed madly, tilting his head back and staring into the gray British sky. Who, other than a pimply eighth-grader, can come to mind to write in ' Alice' the template conflict of fathers and children (Mad Hatter does not understand his family of Ordinary Hatters) and the children's quarrel of the Red and White Queens? And who would be interested? The adventures of Alice in Victorian England are much more absurd than the candy-correct reverse side of the mirror, and in general, the dramaturgy pulls only to the level of a school play based on the works of Oksana Bayrak. All the Cheshire Cats, Sonies and other colorful characters are turned into goofy-talking furniture and are not needed in the plot at all. However, there is almost no harm from them - so, small things: they for the sake of saving the Hatter encourage Alice on an adventure that can easily lead to the end of the world. Guys, it was Dodgson who was absurd, and you guys were crazy. It seems that some people do not understand the difference between funny schizoids and clinical idiots, pulling screen time.
Oh, yeah, Time. The character for which Sasha Baron Cohen was brought, an old Bertonov and Bobinov acquaintance, is completely ridiculous, but Cohen is even more comfortable - he plays them all his life. It is even interesting to watch in places - not that jokes are good, but there is some dashing burlesque in these walking hours. But the others... Depp grimaces without the slightest reason, Hathaway's make-up face froze a sympathetic expression, Wasikowski absolutely does not know what to play - either a boy-baba, or a young lady admiring the universal wonder. Neither comes out. When actors do not even try to hide that they work for a fee and nothing more - it's bad.
By the way, the wonder isn't great either. If you like the style of the first part, rejoice - nothing new will appear in the second part. Time Castle looks like the most typical home of a wizard turned on machinery - how many have we seen? The fairytale kingdom consists of cute toy houses in the spirit of old Europe. No, really, this is Wonderland (aka Looking Glass), why not look like an ordinary village from any fairy tale? You can criticize Burton as much as you like for the pretentiousness of his ' Alice', but the franchise rested solely on him: the fantasy ended - the success ended.
In addition, all this nonsense is dedicated to the memory of Alan Rickman. Don't be sad, Zeljevar - out, Ilya Oleynikov dedicated ' Caucasian prisoner;)', you're lucky. Which, however, does not justify this senseless and helpless sequel.
If a flag were flying over a Disney castle from a traditional screensaver, it would read 'Can and so' I don’t think it’s going to work this time.
Yeah, and give Depp his passport back. Destroy, Herod!
“But dreams are unrealistic?” and “Who will distinguish one from the other?”
In one of the prosaic, everyday days I decided to watch an easy, airy fairy tale, where good and evil are not absolute concepts, where people act as their heart tells them.
Yes, a film about kindness, a film about the fact that we, with our heads immersed in routine and having a certain number of years lived behind us, completely forgot about what we were good at as children - to dream. To imagine that there is anything other than important matters that we think are a matter of life and death. The film says that all this should be in moderation. And sometimes the words "yes, this is unrealistic" should continue with the words "but quite feasible."
What is very important, the film does not pretend to any of the styles of cinema, where we could say: “No, I do not believe, the actions are too played, and the speeches sound pathetic.”
Separately, it is worth going through the actors who once again were on top - I never doubted that they were interested in playing, and each of them brought something of their own to the characters. Johnny Depp – once again I admire the talent of this man, the master of reincarnations. His emotions, his movements, are all really plausible. Sacha Baron Cohen – initially I only saw him as a comedian, but a small episode at the end of the film showed that this man is quite good and in a serious way. Helena Bonham Carter showed her character so that I will remember with a smile for a long time the grins of this rather caricatured and topical character, personifying all those people who are stupid and at the same time think a lot about themselves. And her words: “Wait, don’t leave me alone with my whims!” made me smile for a few minutes.
Summing up, I want to say that the film carries with it, leads to the distance, shows that you need not be afraid of your dream, but go to it, and it will not fail to come true. This film is like a ray of unusual, at least for a few hours forced me to return to my childhood, that precious time when I was looking forward to the fairy tales told by my mother. Thank you so much for that. Friends, grow up, but always leave in the depths of your soul a part that will reach for the miracle, without denying its existence. You and I are all big kids. Just someone a little older than someone else.
Back in 2010, Alice in Wonderland was filmed by Tim Burton. I went to it for free on my birthday, absolutely no regrets. I liked the movie. Here, in 2016, a sequel was released, but not under the leadership of Burton, but under the supervision of Burton, directed by an unknown director, James Bobin. I will tell you more about my impressions.
About the plot:
It took some time, after the events of the first part, Alice grew up and did not visit Wonderland for a long time. During this time, the Hatter grabbed the candy and Alice needs to save him.
About the movie:
Overall, I liked the film, but it clearly lacked something, which I can’t understand. It was nice to return to this fairy-tale world, pleased with the bright and slightly acidic picture, the very atmosphere of this world. The characters, as in the previous part, are quite cool, and I liked the new character, Mr. Time, the most charismatic in the whole film. The story of the Hatter and his past, I found interesting, revealed the details of his personality, and not only his character revealed. Perhaps the film lacked the same madness that was in the last film. The lack of something is clearly felt after watching.
About actors:
Well, here the actors are the same as in the previous part, of the new actors it is Sasha Baron Cohen, in the role of Time, I believe that his character is very interesting, bright, ambiguous. Cohen is a great actor, he showed me that he can play well. Johnny Depp, in the role of Hatter, pleased and upset me at the same time. Like the Hatter, but without the spark of madness in his eyes. Slightly more time is spent Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter, as the White and Red Queen, respectively. In principle, I do not see anything wrong with this, the plot complements it. And Mia Wasikowska, in the role of Alice. She began to behave differently, more strangely. I don't know, that's my opinion.
Due to the lack of something in this film, I can’t give him the highest rating, but overall I liked him.
Time flies, Alice replied. - And you spend it on puzzles with no clues. It's not rubber!
- If you knew our Time better, the Hatter reproached her, like me, you wouldn’t dare call it “it.” It's not him, it's him.
- But I didn’t want to hurt him.
- That's what I'm saying! You'd try to harass him, and I wouldn't. If you were in a human relationship with him, he would crash into a cake for you, he would not regret himself. Let's say it's morning. Time for school. Whisper him a few words, and please, the arrows are swirling. It's time for lunch.
- Are you doing that?
- We had a fight in March last year. It happened during the Solemn Concert, which was arranged by the Queen of Buben. Well, only I sang the first word, and the Queen jumps up and screams, "He ruins Time!" Cut off his head! Since then, time has been zero for me. And now we have five hours all the time. It is always time to drink tea.
(fragment from the book)
From “Alice in the Looking Glass” by Lewis Carroll in this film there is only a mirror. The screenwriters did not preserve that sweet absurdity, a mystery without a clue, stupid and at the same time intellectual and fabulous. A fantasy film that must be watched in the movies, because otherwise you will get a dry script with banal dialogues, in which events do not have the same time, the characters do not have time to fully reveal themselves, as roses, exposing their essence, we slip a bud with a hint of fragrance. Superficial pieces of the film sweep by like Alice's journey itself.
It was nice to see Miu Vasikowska again as Alice. Because for me, it's a memory, since Alice was my first 3D film, I'll never forget the white rabbit jumping in the rose bushes, it was all beautifully realistic. Plus, she is the only Disney fairy-tale heroine who did not draw eyebrows, like the Elven King Thranduil. So, in the first film, we had a warrior girl who doubted her abilities. Here the girl is a traveler with a high nose up (felt pride). And again, the upper light, society ridiculed her and tried to corner her in order to put mate.
There was nothing to play here. Because here Alice is the link between events. Mia didn't play here anymore, she did cross. Run, run and sometimes fall. The most ridiculous moment, in my opinion, is when she gets into someone else’s past with the intention of changing it for a shared happy future. Then he realizes that the past cannot be changed. One try, you know. But it is quite another matter if the morality were such that the past cannot be changed simply because you do not exist in it and you still have to work with the present. But, it is sometimes useful to look into it to find out the cause that led to the consequences. Most people look to their past to ruin their future.
Out of all this half-witted gang of waterers, oddly enough, I liked one gentleman - Time. I don't know Baron Cohen because he's mostly in some questionable comedies. But I liked him. Time has gone to charm and charisma. Plus, his character has an interesting image. He is all so mechanical, it seems not alive, but at the same time able to feel:
They say that time is indifferent to everything. But you, Alice, I will always remember you.
Helena Bonham Carter's gone into a breakaway. Her character with a big head was even more hysterical and screaming. The most curious thing is, if you ask yourself after watching, so who is the main character, the main character, you realize that obviously it is not Alice. Hatter with his tragedy? Tick-tock, who worked well and didn't touch anyone, didn't do anything, and yet he was drawn into his games? A red queen with a hint of virtue, with her white sister? Not a lot of them. Fictional background, so there is nothing from the author. And I'll tell you, a bad idea. Just stupid. I’m not going to continue because I want to write more about the good.
The best scenes are a tea party with Time and a farewell to Alice.
The delightful voiceover of beloved actor Alan Rickman. It was his last role and it was so symbolic. He turned into a butterfly and flew to other, fantastic for us, worlds. And at the same time, he stayed with us, forever.
I want to leave it to you. My father said that only what you give is with you forever.
P.S. Another surprise for me was Richard Artimitge in an image that will be exploited for a long time.
Mia Wasikowska seemed like a log to me in the first part, mainly because of some unemotional voice of the understudy. In the second she again - like a weight of puffiness, pulling down a cheerful show.
Balagan, however, ceased to be cheerful and plunged into some idiotic journey to the roots of history and reflection, trying to explain the madness of the most charming heroes ' Alice' No reason! Again, Disney is stepping on the same rake as with 'Pirates' when the humor and carelessness of the fairy tale, creating the mood in the first part, turn into a problematic drag in the subsequent.
Why is it always not enough just fun and a little crazy? Why the charm of spontaneity necessarily need to hang the burden of the past, painful, problematic and touchy. Charming mysterious heroes, suddenly turned into ordinary people and animals with an unusual appearance. It turned out that they all had a childhood, ordinary and familiar.
And -- the magic is dead. The hatter, in the context of the past, began to look like a slutty idiot, the Red Queen turned into a complexed bitch, and the White one - a mean creature. And even the magnificent Sacha Baron Cohen did not help, although he was very good.

My biggest film disappointment in the last ten years, if not all my life, is the latest Disney Alice in the Looking Glass. I have never seen a more perverse distortion of the original ideas. I would even say that this is not a distortion, but their complete destruction and replacement with banalism, which second-rate fan fiction can not be forgiven.
When the film first began, we doubted whether we were in the right room, until five minutes after the opening scene with the escape from pirates, the title of the film appeared on the screen. The plot for obvious reasons - much of the Looking Glass was already used in the first film - was rewritten from scratch, only the moment of passage through the mirror remained from the original. This could be forgiven if the director managed to preserve the spirit of Alice, the meanings, ideas, hints embedded in the book by Lewis Carroll. But the essence of Looking Glass was hopelessly amputated and fed to jackals. From funny surrealism, funny absurdity and enchanting madness there is not a trace left. The brain, instead of the expected puzzles and miracles in the spirit of Carroll, received a portion of cliches so rotten that we should better get up and go out in the middle of the session. There was no dark absurdity in Burton’s style – he was only involved in the film as a producer. Johnny Depp merged.
The plot revolves around time travel and trying to fix what happened to save the Hatter from the depression that belatedly overtook him after losing his family. In parallel, biographies of the White and Red Queen, the Hatter, and some other characters are described. Alice predictably becomes the cause of everything that happened, although the authors simply hushed up this moment, not knowing what to do with it. Instead, a very inconclusive reconciliation of the queens was slipped. In general, it turned out the most ordinary story about saving the world, which is a lot, with an extremely straightforward plot.
The film does not even save quality special effects, and really great graphics remains just a beautiful picture, devoid of meaning. The action is monotonous, chaotic, unjustified and predictable (even if the combination of these epithets may seem like an oxymoron). Dialogues are more than entirely composed of pathetic speeches about the meaning of family and friendship or platitudes describing current actions in the style of “what I see, I sing.” And two-thirds of the characters can be safely thrown away: except for talking about the fact that Alice will save everyone (save or already saved), they do nothing.
Of the interesting, but still flawed (I wanted to say stronger) finds, only a couple can be noted. The first is Time, a character played by Sacha Baron Cowan. Charisma Cowan also did not help: the character is killed by banal replicas and tired jokes put into him by the writers. The second - seconds in the form of a funny mechanical trifle, capable of folding in minutes and even hours ... as a result, strongly resembling some prime optimum from the trash. Involuntarily, it turned out to laugh only in a scene where the characters troll Time, pun on the theme of “squeezing”, “lost” or “killed time” – the only scene where there was at least some hint of truly Carrollian nonsense.
The authors of the film separately hunt to crucify the scene of death, perhaps witty in itself, but does not fit into the good fairy tale that wrote Carroll.
Hell with him with Carroll and Burton – banal Disney movie did not work. The authors trampled with dirty boots everything they touched. It is a pity not even lost time and money. It's a shame that the film turned out to be a juicy spit in the soul.
The picture returns the viewer to the person of the dreamer Alice, who is able to believe in a miracle and hope for a bright future. In the fight against everyday difficulties, the main character returns to a parallel universe, where the problems of fairy-tale creatures help to realize and rethink the problems of everyday life.
The main highlight of the picture is the stunningly exotic work of designers and animation artists who have preserved the traditions of the previous part. It is difficult to compare the first and second parts, rather, it is possible to state greater freedom compared to the first film, but without loss of dynamism.
Playing on the mental health of the heroine and sometimes thrash on the verge of a children's cartoon add to the picture of introvertivity, so it would be strange to expect mass praise, such as in Warcraft, but the movie will nevertheless find its loyal audience.
In summary, the picture is worth seeing at any age and provides a pleasant aftertaste of touching miracles.

Alice In the Looking Glass is the sequel to Tim Burton’s 2010 film, but this time director James Bobin was at the helm, and Burton acted only as a producer. However, the tone of the first part, its color and colorfulness are fully preserved.
However, there is little from Carroll in this production, and from the original fairy tale there are only some elements that do not play special roles - the original plot itself is completely thrown out. Alice is now the captain of the ship and after another voyage is forced to deal with domestic problems - her mother decided to sell her ship to Alice's rejected fiancé. She is, of course, dissatisfied and in the process of arguments and debates, Alice passes through the mirror and falls into the familiar land of Mad Hatters and colored queens. There, oddly enough, everything is fine, and only Johnny Depp in the role of the Hatter is desperately depressed about his parents and of course the main character is called to help him. So Alice meets a new character - Time to find out the fate of the Hatter's parents.
From this moment, the leapfrog begins with time travel and revealing the stories of the main characters and in general, the main and main problem of this film. In fact, the appearance of time travel in the continuation of any tape that was not originally tied to time travel is a bad sign.
Although the assumption that there is a certain character of Time in Wonderland, which, incidentally, is played by Sacha Baron Cohen, might not be so critical if the film absolutely fulfilled its entertainment function. So the first part of the picture, and especially the scenes of Victorian England look tediously boring and drawn out so much that the appearance of all the strange characters from the previous part is just waiting with awe.
But, unfortunately, only James Bobin's tape moves from reality to the world of magic, little changes. Depp plays a traditional freak for himself, Helena Bonham Carter is still insanely beautiful, Mia Wasikowska maintains her image of a stubborn and resourceful main character - in general with the actors at ' Alice in the Looking Glass' everything is good, Sasha Baron Cohen looks especially interesting in the role of Time (just nice to see him not as another idiot with greasy jokes).
But the script and drama are so weak that it is simply not interesting to watch this orgy of colors and visual effects. But even in the simplest adaptations of famous fairy tales, Disney authors build much more complex relationships between the characters, and the films themselves carry quite serious (especially for children) semantic loads. Alice In the Looking Glass is deprived of all this and even hints of the madness of the main character seem strange. And the main conflict between the White and Red Queens is simply humiliatingly ridiculous.
However, all this is in particular one of the biggest misses of the painting by James Bobin. The beauty of Carroll’s world is that it is absurd and mysterious at the same time, but the filmmakers for something include rationalization and come up with backstory to all fairytale characters from the Queens to the Hatter. The only question that arises is why? Why give additional motivation and backstory to characters whose magic and charm is built precisely on the lack of background?
The output is a beautiful colorful, but absolutely optional continuation of the Burton tape, which tries to add depth and meaning, but in fact completely destroying the magic of both the previous picture and the original work.
In this picture, dedicated to the new adventures of Alice, the director was James Bobin, who in this ' madness' introduced a noticeable abundance of colors, due to which his wonderland seems much brighter than that of Tim Burton. And although I am a lover of a gloomy atmosphere and characters that look like zombies, but still this version of Wonderland I liked more, as it appeared missing in the former part of the color and saturation.
But still this film is inferior to its predecessor, and the reason for this lies, alas, not in special effects (by the way, another plus in the piggy bank Bobin) and not in the game of actors (some of them it has become even better), but in the plot. There she is, Achilles' heel, Alice in the mirror. Let me explain. The story this time revolves around the heroine’s journey through time and desperate attempts ' to wipe ' the story of Wonderland. For this reason, a new interesting character is introduced into the film - his very eternity Time, taking the place of an objective, neutral character and trying desperately to correct the mistakes endowed by negligent Alice in managing the mechanism of time. The fact is that she encroached on the impossible - to correct the past, in particular, to save the Hatter's family from death. Why the story of this particular hero was chosen as the basis of the storyline - the same mystery as ' what does a raven look like a desk?' Although I confess, the backstory of the Hatter touched me very much.
But still my sentimentality did not allow me to ignore the flaws of the plot. Some scenes began as suddenly as they ended, and did not allow the answer to the question ' what happened?'. In addition, the share of Alice’s actions was also devoid of justified motives. Therefore, the plot seems simple and predictable, but leaving gaps in its own plexus. However, they can answer some questions about the characters of such characters as the Red Queen and her sister, respectively the White Queen, by looking into their past. We are finally explained the reason for their enmity, it turned out to be unexpected.
I was also pleasantly surprised by a couple of references to the game 'Alice: Madness Returns' (in particular, the scene in the mental hospital and the Red Queen's castle). They found a worthy place in the intricacies of the plot. That's probably the story. Although it is not devoid of glimpses, but to the dominant (it is also the essence), it conveys quite clearly, literally through the mouth of Alice - ' The past cannot be corrected, but conclusions can be drawn from it' Time is too valuable a resource to play games like the one our heroine started with, so we must dutifully accept its transience. This will help to perceive indifferent time not as a deprivation, but as a giver of endless opportunities and lessons that help us move along the path of life. That's the philosophy of the film. By the way, the character Time, despite the complexity and majesty of his image, is not without humor and some smiling absurdities of character, because of which he began to seem not so intimidating.
I think we can talk about actors now. I, like other reviewers, am struck by the charisma of Sacha Baron Cohen, Time in his performance has acquired its charm. Mia Wasikowska has expanded her emotional range, and now she can portray not only a sincere misunderstanding of what is happening, but also tears and laughter. I did not notice changes in the performance of other actors, although in some places Anne Hathaway was upset by replaying the White Queen Mirana.
Special thanks to the creators for the soundtrack. The melodic female voice at the beginning and end of the film completely plunged into the atmosphere of the film and allowed you to feel all the magic and mystery of Wonderland.
So here's the bottom line. On one side of the scales, the plot is weaved into intricate knots, on the other - talented actors, a mesmerizing atmosphere and a suitable soundtrack. Well, I think that most outweigh their weight, so color the review in green and put 6 points.

"Alice in Wonderland" is the weirdest girl's fairy tale I can imagine. Attempts to interpret it in their own way have made many great people of our time, clips, cartoons, even a mini-series. And here is the version of the director Tim Burtan, shot five years ago, was skeptically accepted by me personally as a great connoisseur of the work of Lewis Carroll, but, nevertheless, left an indelible mark with his vivid images, such as the Hatter (Johnny Depp). He became a very recognizable and repeatable character later on masquerades and Halloween, which is an undoubted plus. And despite all the bias towards the picture itself, the “fresh face” in Hollywood – Mia Vasilkowska, also very organically fit into the role of Alice, and I believe that I coped with her.
Having learned more than six months before the release of "Alice in the Looking Glass" with anticipation you expect this grand event. And naturally you go to the premiere in the cinema. It seems that with such special effects and new sound effects, it would be a “crime” to watch a movie at home. Enjoying the picture - that's what is most important in this film, juicy colors, bright costumes, whirlpool of events, kaleidoscope, vortex! "Alice through the looking glass" - extravaganza, which is worth enjoying, and dive with the main character into the world where you roll on the waves of time. And let it was shot by a completely unknown director – James Bobin, and Tim Burton acted as just a co-producer, if you compare, it turned out even better than the first part about Alice in the modern way.
So, what do we have? For those who have forgotten the plot, and I think most of us do, the writers suggest that Alice must save the Hatter by making time travel. It seems to be an idea and a moral that you get out of it in good time. And all these jokes in time quite fun. "How quickly time flies", "I would like to go, but there was no suitable time", and at the same time, we learn still why time offended the Hatter and he is forever doomed without a minute like drinking tea. Sacha Baron-Cohen, who played the time, very amused in this role. In such a projection, I had no idea what time might look like, but definitely a personalization of what can not be touched, seen, but what we all constantly think about and what is always with us, it would seem, robs us. If in the first part we encountered cards, now we have a chess field. White Queen Mirana (Anne Hathaway) moves around the kingdom, literally floating in the air, and her subjects seem happy that now the Queen is not Iracebeta ( Helena Bonham Carter), but not everything is so simple. “Save the Hatter!” and everyone was waiting for Alice. It seems that nothing is impossible in Wonderland, the main thing is to believe. You may be confused, is it a mirror or a wonderland? And the characters are all the same: Sonya mouse, March mad hare, white rabbit, Tru and Tra-lyal, Humpty Dumpty and a dog.
The only omission that is clearly noticeable in the film is the “magical” dressing of Alice between the main scenes, when in the five main scenes she appears already in a new costume, albeit beautiful, but it is not clear how she ended up on her. Maybe, in this way, the writers wanted to save time, but it turned out an annoying misunderstanding and exclaim: yes, how is it?!
In addition to the unreal world, there is also the present, where Alice was the captain of the ship, and Lord Hamish decided to get even with her for old grievances. Here and part old omissions between all relatives, which is very interesting. Alice’s mother, Elena Kingsley (Lindsey Duncan) performed in only a few scenes, but she was very pleased with her maternal care and wisdom, because Alice is an unusual girl and requires a special attitude. Not to live, because everything, not to look back, to be able to draw conclusions from the past, to appreciate the family, what can be better presented to the viewer in such a playful form, when you can not stop watching, while realizing some simple truths? I think it's the best pastime, sorry for the pun. A separate moment was the soundtrack Pink "Just like fire", which evokes new thoughts about how much modern has become in fairy tales. Many things have changed and, perhaps, our children will already perceive and think exactly as they were shown in modern films, albeit colorful, but far from the Disney classics that we saw a couple of decades ago. And we can only watch and enjoy, because “time does not wait”, seconds add up in minutes, and minutes in hours. . .
As soon as the trailer for the continuation of the film - "Alice in Wonderland", called "Alice in the Looking Glass", I immediately knew that this film is worth my attention. The first picture, after all, was bright and rich, but the trailer for the new “Alice” looked so promising that I did not hesitate to go to the cinema.
Of course, in some places there are sags and some oversights, but my eyes did not bother much. Despite the fact that this film has nothing to do with the work of Lewis Carroll, still the story turned out to be very well-coordinated, and most importantly, it reveals to all of us already beloved and painfully familiar characters in a new way. Also, the directors give you the opportunity to get acquainted with new characters that are sure to break into your hearts, and you will be interested in watching them. Moreover, as before, the visual part is saturated with a whole range of colors, ranging from magnificent and detailed costumes to graphics.
Although, this time, Tim Burton acted only as a producer, the film still, in my opinion, was made entirely in his style and, I think, without him, because when you watch it, you recognize many moments that say “Burton smells.”
As for the entertainment of this picture, it is definitely not worse than the first, rather it goes foot in step with the previous one on a level, because it is completely and completely sustained in the same genre and style, if you liked Alice in Wonderland, then I assure you, it is unlikely that you will be disappointed by the continuation.
The actors, as in the previous part, are on top, all without exception, both old and new. The joint game of all friends: Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Mia Wasikowska, Helena Bonham Carter, as well as the newcomer to the Alice franchise - Sacha Baron Cohen, creates a very fascinating spectacle.
The script in this picture is simple and understandable, without a showdown, but as in the first part, it was simple as two pennies, so do not understand the nagging about the plot, I can understand the comments about the fact that it is far from the original, but the rest of the remarks, I do not understand. This is the norm for this picture.
Of the musical accompaniment, unfortunately, nothing was remembered especially vividly, the organ arrangement, in my opinion, has sagged colossally, no melody, except for the main theme, has not settled in my head.
I liked, of course, the humor, which was a bit, but it was good, for this special thanks to the creators of this picture.
As a result, I do not quite understand why such a useful sequel fell under the stream of negative reviews and discontent, because the picture is still colorful and visually rich, with a consistent and quite logical story, in my opinion, this is a worthy and high-quality continuation of the previous part, there are of course flaws, but there are not so many of them!

If you believe in yourself, the impossible will be possible.
And again with us "the same Alice". She returns to Wonderland, where the Mad Hatter finally goes mad. An unexpected adventure saves Alice from home problems, and in gratitude for the help of the Hatter gives answers to difficult questions.
Director James Bobin has preserved the incredible madness and powerful energy that Tim Burton created in the first film, for which he is very grateful. Mia Wasikowska, Helena Bonham Carter, Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway continued to quirk and prank with the same enthusiasm. Anne retained the image of weightless Mirana – all the same innocent eyes and raised hands, flying gait and lost in space. Helena’s Eracibet is a little different from the past. Here she is a wounded and spoiled bird seeking revenge. Very little remains of the insidious witch. Depp's hat shows more of a child's traits than an adult man willing to fight for his goal. Alice retained her faith in miracles, bravery and good madness, without which it is clearly not possible to enter Wonderland. It was a pleasure to see Richard Armitage as king, albeit for a few minutes.
Unfortunately, the modern film industry is increasingly justifying the most brutal villains. The problem of the intricacies of good and evil with each new filmed fairy tale becomes more complex. The antagonist became so, because once in the distant past the protagonist was smoked, and he is the culprit of all troubles. The filmmakers tried to do the same with the Red Queen. In their opinion, she deserves forgiveness, but this opinion is not imposed on the audience, which is indescribably pleasing.
Costumes and endless special effects at the highest level. In this film, the animals were combed with fur, which makes the viewer clearly see every hair on the muzzle of a hare or the belly of a Cheshire cat.
The film conquers with its endless madness, strangeness and wonder. In it, the kindness and playfulness of the child and the wise seriousness of the adult create a stunning palette of emotions.
A few disadvantages did not spoil the impression, but they are worth mentioning. A little upset the image of the collected minutes and seconds of Time - another transformer with burning eyes. And Alice traveled too much. When the viewer has long guessed what the matter is, she decides to test her theory several times, oversmoking more than could be. Wordplay did not play a prominent role in this part, and it is a pity that the madness would have become much more. Do not compare the film to a book. That's another story.
The movie is definitely worth watching. This is one of the instructions for what a person can be if he breaks the shackles of adult seriousness.
I came to this film with certain adventures, but the main thing is that I got there. A very beautiful and colorful picture, completely detached from reality, captivates and attracts to your world so that you do not want to return. Kind and bright heroes instantly become relatives, and Alice herself is such that with her with a certain stretch I want to associate myself.
This time, the plot is built on the salvation of everyone’s favorite Hatter, and from the most terrible disease – from depression. However, despite this, the Hatter is not at all a central figure in the story, remaining a secondary character. And in the center is a brave and such an adult Alice, who knows how to make decisions and resist the blows of fate, no matter how heavy they may be. At the heart of the picture are always attractive for the viewer time travel. In this case, they allow you to take a new look at long-known characters, understand and even sympathize with some, surprise others. Although Alice finds herself in places she has visited before, due to the time difference, it is always a slightly different location, filled with a different atmosphere, so you can tell exactly when Alice is in "today" and when she is in "yesterday." From completely new places, you can distinguish an unusual castle of Time, on the one hand, frightening, and on the other hand, filled with unusual life, not at all dark and gloomy.
The main plot idea is that nothing in the world is accidental, and that the past does not return. Of course, this idea lies on the surface, but it is on it that the plot is built. Alice has to solve not artificially created riddles, but to compare facts, incidents and their consequences. The picture most clearly demonstrates how insignificant events can change the life of a person, and not even one person, but many. The past of the Red and White Queens, on the one hand, is a story absolutely standard and typical, childish, but on the other hand, on the example of these heroines, we see how vulnerability can cause anger, and a person, no matter how evil he may seem, may not need to capture the world, but human warmth.
Despite the importance of the sisters’ relationship, the importance of their history and their past, the story of the Hatter comes first. His storyline revolves around both the conflict of fathers and children, and also around elementary morality about the importance of family as such. We used to perceive the Hatter as a loner, but surrounded by friends, now he appears before us as an ordinary person with ordinary desires, except that more pronounced, because he is still an unusual creature, on the verge of normality and absurdity. Unfortunately, I have to admit that Johnny Depp’s performance in a number of films seems very similar, and in this “Alice” the Hatter resembles Captain Jack Sparrow. In some places, it is a different character. But the Hatter is a creature inherently weak and defenseless, using techniques available to such characters. And this is a very emotional character, which in this picture is displayed even in its appearance. He may be a good-natured clown, but he may seem evil. At the same time, here he is supposed to sympathize and regret, and this extreme eccentricity, comedy, excessive emotionality simply do not allow him to truly feel the hero in order to react correctly to his life circumstances.
A new character appears in the film – Time itself. The character is ambiguous, which is obvious from the very first shots with him. On the one hand, he is like a robot, on the other hand, he is a human being. When Time grabs a clock built into his body, it resembles a person grasping at his heart. This is a character with a kind of mind-stitched understanding of what can and cannot be done. He is not negative at all, but he is not good either. He doesn’t chase Alice out of a desire to hurt her, but he understands more than she does. At the same time, Alice gets a similar understanding from her journey, which allows the characters to find a common language.
I also liked the fact that the picture is not grand. Now the focus is on specific individuals, not focusing on global issues. There is no great battle in this film, just as there is no grand intrigue. Everything is somehow easy and funky, colorful and sunny, like a game. It is with its stunning design that the picture catches attention, because it is always interesting what will happen in the next frame, even despite the actions of Alice. The whole film is filled with metaphors and allegories about time, both in the form of simple jokes that Alice and her friends make, and in the form of scenes, whether it is the ocean and waves or giant arrows. All scenes in general are very colorful: as unusually beautiful winter, filled with fun and warmth, and stunning beauty spring. The picture combines both purely fabulous attributes, such as talking animals, and the endless human dream of the most simple and kind world, where everything is quite small and compact, each has its own place where everything is clear, the world where all people are one family, where there is no poverty, where there is no anger, envy and competition. The picture gives just such a feeling from the life shown in it.
The film gives a good mood. He gives the characters understanding and forgiveness, allows them to understand and let go. It forces them to reconsider their lives, to start with a new leaf, if necessary. Some big ending to this story, from which there are only positive emotions. There is no sense of artificiality, there is no sense that any of the characters are being pulled to the fore. Everyone is in their place, everyone participates exactly as history requires. It's beautiful.
Now the fashion for time travel has gone. Many films use this move when trying to restart the franchise or when the basic ideas are exhausted, and to shoot something like that. Unfortunately, the second part of Alice’s adventures refers to the second concept of time travel.
So on the screens of cinemas we can see 'Alice in the Looking Glass' from the famous director Tim Burton .
For what not just scolded the first 'Alice' and the banal plot, worn to holes and curvature and giddy characters, unmotivated their behavior, mixed with template. And the often mentioned reproach was the absence of insanity.
And here lies the main feature of the difference of the second 'Alice' from the first. In the course of the picture, there is a real feeling that Alice has not just a slight insanity, but schizophrenia in the acute stage, not otherwise. Of course, there is a lot of template in her actions. Driven by the best of intentions to help a friend, she is ready to do anything. Up to the point of destroying the whole country of miracles.
In fact, since the first film, there was no special connection between the film and the book. In the second part, this point is simply absent. However, that didn’t stop the writers from creating their own original story, interesting enough to take away two hours of your precious time.
So that time travel does not tire the viewer, in the course of the plot, we are shown the key life moments of the heroes. It explains their motivation and how they became what they are. Even the main antagonist of the film Queen of Hearts at the end of the film does not seem so bad. Very competently set priorities in the plot and it will not let you get bored.
The cast and the entire cast moved into the second film entirely. New heroes such as the Hatter family and Time were added. Time should be given special attention. At first, he is an antagonist, does not cause negative emotions. Sacha Baron Cohen, who played this role, gave 100%. Time turned out to be charismatic and far-sighted just as time should be. If she were a gentleman. Mia Wasikowska shone in the role of always believing in the miracle Alice. Well, the role of the Mad Hatter was performed by a pleasant Johnny Depp.
The musical accompaniment also completely migrated from the first picture. Beautiful and important in the subject.
Result. After 6 years, the sequel to the first Alice appeared on the screens. Let it be rough and sometimes drawn out. But still beautiful and good. It also sends a good message about family and friendship. It's not all that smooth in the movie, but you can see Tim Burton. ..
You cannot change the past, but you can draw conclusions from it (c)
He drew conclusions and brought the picture to its logical conclusion.
After 6 years, I’m going to the movies again to see Alice. I remember when I was a kid going to the first part. And after the film, she was impressed for a long time, since the fairy tale was very liked and all the characters became loved. But going to this film, honestly, did not expect to get the same pleasure as once.
But the movie was nice. The characters who fell in love with 'Alice in Wonderland' were just as vivid and interesting. What is only the Hatter performed by Johnny Depp and the Red Queen - Helena Bonham Carter, who amuses with her tantrums and fully personifies the whole essence of the offended woman. This film allows you to fully immerse yourself in the fabulous atmosphere and makes you worry about the heroes. It was very interesting to watch Alice travel through time, which gave answers to many questions. No less interesting was the story of the family of the hatter and the evil queen. And it is impossible not to note the appearance of Sacha Baron Cohen, who managed to depict Time itself, which for me is not an easy task. As a result, both old heroes and newcomers - all on top of five. What does the film teach us? And he teaches the value of time:'The past cannot be changed, but one can learn from it'
Of course, the film has flaws. I don’t like the fact that the main character doesn’t look young. This is not the young girl Alice you want to admire. Unfortunately, there were few bright scenes. And in some places, the logic of what was happening was not clear. But this story should be treated more easily.
In my opinion, this picture is instructive and exciting. It should be seen as a fairy tale, as an easy and interesting adventure that is suitable for a company of friends or family viewing. Of course, it all depends on perception, for me personally the film fell to my liking and left a pleasant impression.

It's not a bad movie. Of course, this film has flaws, but there is no such sinless film.
The plot is clear to everyone, it is not necessary to retell it, but the plus is that the plot is simple and easy. The film is just as good visually, the characters are all weird and a bit illogical, well, of all the characters, the only one really great is Time. Also, there are no questions about the actors, everyone plays as they can, although in truth they have nothing to play.
What you need to know before watching: there are no characters especially excellent (except for time), the plot is simple and clear, in some places the film is boring, a little predictable.
Conclusion: a little predictable, the plot is simple and does not carry much load, good in the visual part, a little boring, only with almost one normal character and a little humor.
In fact, it’s a good movie as under the fantasy genre, it’s closer for family viewing and this film is for teenage kids and looking for a lot of disadvantages in this film makes no sense. Just a good fantasy movie for family viewing. There is not much to expect from the film.
