Not a bad horror movie with a minimum of mysticism. A story about an evil spirit whose name can not be called beautifully shot. The mechanism of the curse is elegant, and the behavior of the characters seems most of the time justified and adequate to the circumstances. Unless you count the fact that none of them is stressed by the silhouette of a cloak in the bedroom, as well as the idea of a huge house threesome. All right, some fun, some atmospheric.
Students Elliot, Sasha and John rent a house together. This is due to the fact that Elliot wants on the one hand a pleasant and stable life with his girlfriend, but on the other hand can not pay the rent. Therefore, the closest friend John is invited to the companions, who has nothing against it.
Elliot is a little jealous of his older brother, who is a family man, and the older brother, who has not been to students, is jealous of Elliot. He advises him to take his time and have a good time for the next few years, but our hero has already found his only one and wants a life similar to the life of his beloved relative.
The housewarming is going very well, despite the friend Sasha. Kim has psychic abilities and by the end of the evening plays the role of a crow.
The troubles, however, begin very soon. Stable and pleasant life does not even have time to come. Our hero, out of ignorance, resurrects BaiBaiMan, a mystical creature so terrible that it should not even be mentioned. Thus Elliot provides all three quite unpleasant life, which clearly will not last long.
“BiBiMan” is a standard youth horror film, which, however, did not regret the budget.
The basic situation is absolutely standard, but not without a comic shade, which is associated primarily with the sexual fiasco of John and Kim, in respect of which BaiBaiMan decided to first make a harmless joke.
A shade of black humor can be seen in connection with the librarian, whose behavior in the midst of events looks very ambiguous.
The advantages of the picture include the following: although the finale is quite banal, but the banality is postponed and manifests itself only in the last minutes.
The main advantage of the work is Bai Bai Man and Elliot. Doug Jones and Douglas Smith made up a beautiful duet, and perhaps compensate for the template of fantasy of the filmmakers.
The guys tried, you know. We appreciated it. Deservedly.
But you understand me too, $8 million. I think it's too much. Cerberus looks like a monkey or steak, I don't get it. Baibayman is good. No questions. The most positive character in the whole film.
The plot is unclear. Men are all evil for no apparent objective reason. But for the sake of decency, it is worth noting the game of the main character. When a woman was killed by a train, the actor became very sad. Touched, no dispute.
Why was there a picture of naked people on the tracks? It was just that? very unclear.
No surprise. From the first shots, it was clear that John was just a nit. Consumerically refers to women, runs as soon as he sees in the eyes of his beloved worm. As they say, in someone else's eye we see a mote, in our own - we do not notice a log. About his erectile dysfunction is generally silent. Well done writers, of course.
The ending is normal. The child is crazy, but he did his job.
I don't advise you to refund your subscription.
Gold coins, a train, a dog are signs that you can determine that you are being chased by an evil entity. Why? I don't know, I didn't tell the movie. These signs work even if you haven’t touched a coin, heard a train, or seen a dog. Why? I don't know, probably because suspense. The evil entity will diligently drive mad by grinding, stripping walls, as well as sending hallucinations and a hard cough with fever. Why? Because it's scary, obviously.
This is not the first film where the essence is summoned by the pronunciation of his name, but certainly one of the few where the characters very quickly decide that they will kill loved ones and themselves to stop it. What threatens this, except glitches, is unclear, therefore it is completely unclear what exactly scares the heroes? The main character easily overcomes himself, deciding that if he sees something strange / scary - it's a hallucination. Yes, it would be a hard life, but permissible, many mentally ill proof of this. Why do heroes have to kill all their surroundings? Because the script.
Seeing the film in the list of works Lee Wannell, immediately knew how to spend the evening, and all the time watching was surprised and amazed: how? Really? Is that what happens?
How could he do that? Is there not enough money? A man who must eat for life at the expense of Saw and Astral! No, seriously, does that happen? Although, there, Carrie-Anne Moss and Faye Dunaway are also probably still missing.
The film was frightened only by what I thought: Mr. Wannell often combines screenplay with production, director and acting. And the suggestion that he could take that, give money, and even more so write it is really scary. But luckily not, he just did a good job on his face and dropped out, much to my relief. A girl played well with him for company. And there was even a good scene with a mix of hallucinations. That's it.
The predictable plot, repeatedly repeated earlier by other directors, mediocre acting work, logical blunders - no one in this film tries, everything seems to be serving their duty, and the screenwriter is completely sabotaged.
Do not think about the time spent on this misunderstanding, do not call it friends. It'll be better for everyone.
“BiBiMan” is one of the best modern horror films, which, for some completely incomprehensible reasons to me, did not gain audience sympathy. Behind the seemingly most battered plot of the story lies a really interesting and original concept, which is revealed in the film in full. In my opinion, people just didn’t understand where to be afraid and didn’t appreciate a really interesting supernatural villain with huge potential. But all this is just my conjectures and grumbling, and I will tell you about what still “BiBiMan” I liked, and so much so that I was interested in reviewing it.
For a better understanding of the situation, I will throw a little exposition - three students, Eliot, Sasha and John, in the fold remove an old house, where, in the best traditions of the genre, they begin to pursue a certain supernatural entity. Then the shadow will flash, then what kind of screamer will pop out, but this is not the most important thing that the local Boogeyman is capable of. The fundamental difference between BaiBaiMan and many other poltergeists, demons, ghosts and other evil spirits - he plays with the human mind, gradually driving the victim crazy. He does not need to throw dishes around the house, knock doors or do any other paranormal activity, his influence on the minds of people is so great that they will be haunted by nightmares in reality. BaiBaiMan breaks his victims not physically, but psychologically, and it becomes really creepy. The local mystical villain not only pits the heroes against each other, forcing them to doubt each other, but also so firmly entrenched in their brains that even they cannot trust themselves. This is very cool, and now I can hardly name a tape where another “baby” would play his victims.
"BiBiMan" is a film with a stunning mystical atmosphere, and this is another advantage of the tape. The story is really fascinating, the picture skillfully catches up with suspense, and the screamers are very good. There are not so many of them that they annoy, and those that are placed very competently.
It's worth noting the characters. Very often, the heroes of horror films are insanely annoying - with their character, their behavior, their sometimes frank stupidity. But here, too, "BiBiMan" was able to surprise me in a good way. The main three characters cause sympathy, I did not feel any disgust for any of the central characters. Eliot, John and Sasha are basically living people, they are easy to believe, and the actors who embodied them on the screen looked very natural, without causing any rejection.
And so we got to Bai Bai Man. His very concept, as I said, is very good, all this paranoid psychosis "Don't name him, don't think about him" actually makes you believe in the power of the mystical essence, but there is also something to find fault with. First, the appearance of BaiBaiMan is extremely unoriginal. Although now in principle it is difficult to come up with an original appearance of another paranormal creature, but still. Secondly, almost nothing is known about BaiBaiMen and its mythology. But this moment can be treated both positively and negatively. And as for me, it is much better that the story of the emergence of BaiBaiMan will remain a mystery than be destroyed by a completely incompetent backstory, which in the genre has already been many examples.
So, to sum up, then “BiBiMan” is, again, an excellent representative of the genre. A fascinating story, a rather original and interesting concept of the villain himself, pleasant characters, increasingly falling into madness, a thick tense atmosphere - the tape did not leave me indifferent.
"Bai Bai Men" - without exaggeration, an excellent horror film and certainly one of the best projects in its genre in recent years. I will not say that he was able to scare me, as befits horror, but definitely was able to interest and maintain this interest from the very first minute until the final credits.
So, in the center of the story we have three guys of indefinite age who decide to rent a whole house on their modest means, standing somewhere on the edge, as befits a normal house in a normal horror movie. After a housewarming party, one of the heroes, Eliot, discovers in an old nightstand, left of the former owners, a leaflet with strange inscriptions “Don’t call him, don’t think about him” and the name “Bai Bai Men”. Having thoughtlessly shared the find with his comrades, Eliot awakens to life an old curse that threatens death to anyone who hears the forbidden name.
Here it is worth turning to the actual participants of the story - directly the main character Eliot, his girlfriend Sasha and best friend John. Usually, the characters in horror films are empty cardboards and amaze with their idiocy and devoid of any logic behavior, but here the situation is somewhat different. The local characters, despite their lack of background and proper disclosure, feel many times more alive and real than most of their counterparts in the genre. They really believe in them, believe in the chemistry between the characters, believe in their reaction to what is happening, and even actors, despite their real age, look exactly like students, not like forty-year-old men and aunts in youth clothes.
Just as an example, what do the heroes of standard horror movies usually do when they see / hear something really, to put it mildly, strange? They shine a flashlight, ask “who is there?”, stand and stare into the darkness, strenuously hide from the rest that they saw something, say “it appeared.” What are the characters here doing? What any decent person would do if they met something like this, they screamed and ran as loudly as possible, warning others that something had gone wrong down there. Such honesty towards the viewer characters and take.
But not the same characters, as they say. Be sure to note the excellent atmosphere and sometimes very skillfully overgrown suspense. Eliot and his friends slowly but surely go crazy throughout the film, cease to distinguish between what is real and what is not, lose confidence in each other, being in constant nervous tension, and all this psychosis is transmitted simply magnificently, eventually infecting the viewer to a certain extent. It is thanks to such moments that "Bai Bai Man" most of the time looks like a great psychological thriller, and not just another horror movie for the evening.
The mystical background of the film is not given much time, Bai Bai Men in all its glory appears only in the end, and its background remains a mystery to everyone, including the viewer. But perhaps it is here that this goes to the benefit of the film, and this is just the case when the disclosure of all the secrets of the main Evil could only harm the picture.
So, “Bai Bai Men” is a great project, which I personally do not turn my tongue to call “another horror movie.” Despite the presence of certain clichés, the film has interesting ideas and, more importantly, a competent implementation of these ideas, there are characters who can quite empathize with themselves, which is extremely rare with paintings of this genre, and there is Evil, just the original Evil without motivation and background, which it does not need. It is enough to say the name...
Recently, instead of horror films, the viewer is given third-rate flat scarecrows with an ill-conceived plot and poorly playing actors. How great that 'Baibaiman' turned out to be completely different: interesting, exciting and not studable.
To begin with, the film perfectly inflates the atmosphere of horror. From the moment of acquaintance with the main characters to the finale, the degree of paranoia slowly but steadily increases, and it is clear that the encounter with a nightmare cannot be avoided. Changes with the main characters occur gradually and seem extremely convincing. Here and the lighting in the house, of course, such as the doctor prescribed, and the reaction of others, and even the traditional trip to the dark basement is perceived as a completely natural human behavior.
Again, acting is very good. Misunderstanding, panic, the desire to protect other people from what they faced – yes, this is all portrayed reliably and at a good level. Elliot looks exactly what a person living in fear and hallucinating should look like. The actors who play his girlfriend and friend may look a little weaker, but they are still pretty good. Secondary heroes behave no worse - I never had the desire to say: what nonsense, why all this? And Carrie-Anne Moss and Faye Dunaway bring a style element to the film, which enhances the positive impression of viewing.
I also liked the 1969 version. This is where the movie begins: a clear sunny day, beautiful weather, and a guy with a gun acting like a typical psychopath. The insert in the middle of the film also looks very convincing, and the fact that everything happens during the day is even more frightening - yes, you can not escape from this evil by turning on the lights, everything is much more serious here. There is only one way out and there is no other.
As for Baibaiman himself, he has very little time. And that’s right – it’s even worse when you’re afraid of something you don’t know. The only thing is that his dog looks a little stupid, but why bother with such a trifle? The main thing is that the idea is implemented on conscience.
In general, the film is very whole, competently built, with suitable music and not stupid dialogue. Even the ending here is great, which is extremely rare in our time. I especially liked the moment when a girl and her father were driving in the car - it was fun.
Fans of the genre will certainly appreciate it.
The synopsis introduces us to the sunny sixties, in which a respectable citizen, in fact sweet Lee Wannell, with the help of a gun saws out the family and his surroundings. And this is a good start, because Wannell fans of the genre are revered, and they will bite him and go to the movies. Seeing the name in the credits. these days, a group of students, one of whom is naturally black, and the rest is a guy near-punk rocker with a stretch, and his girlfriend, move into a large private house. Apparently, in the dormitory they live fiercely delusional, so they rented a whole choir-shaped palace for as many as three people, students of what to take from them? Although, if you go into geographical details, life is not sweet. For our student lives in the most American vassuks, such as an urban village, seriously.
“They were sent to hell? Worse, in Wisconsin. (c) Dogma
So the house turns out to be by itself not a simple house, it is not connected with a pleasant white panel house where the massacre of the introductory scene took place, but there is something evil and mysterious in it by any means, it will soon begin to terrorize our heroes in a rude form, wetting their brains, and simply turning their consciousness inside out. Putting into the brains of young people the phenomenon of what is not, pushing for inadequate actions and other parsley of this kind.
Claimed Creepy Bybayman, turned out to be a dummy, with all the trump cards like Lee Wonnell or the iron, matrix maiden Carrie Ann Moss, the film looks disgusting. They are two, this is perhaps the only weighty plus, and at the same time the decoration of this film. The poster shouts that we are waiting for a meeting with a slightly all-powerful generation of dark forces, a creature from that world, which is not only capable of materializing with a living nightmare at the mention of it, but is still accompanied by a malicious dog Cerberus. Judging by the screenshots, the spectacle promised to be entertaining, albeit grotesque, evil loves, wears long black robes, and we do not blame him for this, it only adds charm, otherwise expected the phenomenon of a new monster firmly based on the fears of the victims. The creature, capable of one of its kind to give insanity and death, plus the declared Doug Jones, seemed to inspire hope not in episodic presence, but for a full-fledged pursuit of victims and a long stay in the frame for the viewer’s fun. Doubly terrible nightmare, which the victim invokes only by uttering the simple name of the creature. What's the bottom line? Horror about the creature from the other world in fact was a standard teenage thriller about students, who once again in his life faced the creatures of evil, from unknown places. Characters learn nothing year after year, just like directors and producers. Heroes are completely clichéd, completely bored. The action reeks of repetition, and with every minute you watch, you realize that somewhere you have already seen it. And everything seems good, and blood is pouring, and Kerry Anne Moss, thanking the producers for inviting the iron lady to the cast of the film, plays well, Bai Bye Man still looks raw and somehow unworked. As if the creators put all the inspiration into the poster and slogan, and the film riveted on the principle of beaten plot moves, they say, the audience loves and eats the served casserole from hallucinogenic horror with the addition of a thriller to the garnish.
Actors in the main roles play on the principle: "Here we play conditional students faced with conditional evil and in conditional moments we scream, curtain." Nothing new and original, except for the poster. Doug Jones did not please at all, all these reincarnations with dark cloak floors already beat in the film “Boogeyman”, and then looked more frightening, and Doug Jones obviously just decided to cut down cabbages on the principle of “play where they call”. Of course, he is a good actor and master of reincarnations, but in the case of Baibaiman, he looks far-fetched. His character has little timekeeping, and where there should be a terrible demon in a cloak, there are glimpses of teenagers, overgrown students. Medium bloody shit. Another gray fairy tale about old uncles - aunts faced with everything.
I catch myself thinking that all horror films are now similar to each other like 2 drops of water and are made according to one recipe. Sometimes it's even good - when you want to see something terrible (and I'm not fastidious, I'm always scared when you need to), you can choose any and you roughly know what you'll get. This is a great movie for a good night’s sleep.
And here we have the most ordinary horror movie, a story about three teenagers and Evil, whose name you can't say out loud and tell anyone. Otherwise, you'll have to kill someone who knows about him, and you'll have to catch up.
It's a bit cheap, but it's not a bit thrashy because of it. The movie doesn’t scare you too often, but the atmosphere is pretty good. This is achieved mainly by good shooting (sometimes very good shots skip) and suitable, even a little relaxing music.
The basic idea revolves around the materiality of words and thoughts, the origin of this evil from them. Of course, only at the level of the idea for the film - any reasonable study of this topic is not necessary. Well, around the other games of the mind - everyone without exception involved in the ongoing nightmare, something seems, they do not know whether the events are real or not. A few reminiscent, including thanks to the main villain, 'Nightmare on Elm Street' and this is a compliment.
The tension (and some confusion) of what is happening is felt - actors mostly manage to play their roles well. In general, caste was successful - the characters and types, though banal, but pleasant and interesting. The main character is thin and handsome, as if he was completely from another horror movie.
Well, of the pleasant moments for me, the detective story explaining the origin of evil is almost completely absent here, which allows the idea of the film to shine a little brighter and the viewer to be able to interpret what is happening in his own way. Maybe all the heroes just went crazy. Or are our bad thoughts really material?
It was not too scary when watching, but interesting and not boring.
Basically for a good idea, actors, the main villain, mood and ending and I put such a high rating. I really liked the movie.
Horror movies can hardly make you remember your instincts for self-preservation. The viewer is too accustomed to all known and unknown ways to scare, to exemplary images of villains and to color cinema with sound. Today’s horror film can only succeed in one way: to show the aesthetics of death. On the screen, aesthetic death is a logical death that leaves a minimum of questions, which is sewn into the plot by white threads seeking transparency and, of course, makes you empathize.
What can I say about this painting? Very average cast, very medium special effects (and very short, comparable in duration to the transformation scenes of T-1000 from Terminator 2). The original and interesting course of denouncing evil (if you know it means it exists), but the movement in the plot does not even pull the title of an owl stretched on the globe. This is a more elastic material, because if you still learn about who you can not think about, then some may begin to hurt the stomach in combination with general malaise, and huge scratches will appear on the houses. Throughout most of the film, the question arises from time to time: Why? Why? How? Where does time go? Why are hallucinations so selective? Why does her stomach hurt? Why is Carrie-Anne Moss here?
On the other hand, it's hard to demand anything from a picture with a budget of $7.4 million. In this amount, the authors were able to fit a half hour of video and even a couple of minutes of computer graphics. Mirrors, for example, had a budget 5 times larger. But it was possible to tie to the idea of the plot the logic of events, the behavior of the main characters. You could do without the clown ending. And this could be compared with a meager budget, because the cost of the logic of the scenario is comparable to a ballpoint pen in a stationery store, without unnecessary expenses.
There is no aesthetics even in the bloodiest death, or it is illogical, far-fetched. It does not leave a sense of fear, empathy. But it leaves round eyes perplexed during the final credits. It could have been good.
There is nothing to watch now, especially when it comes to horror films and thrillers. Release one nonsense, which can hardly catch the true connoisseur of the genre. This picture was recommended to me by a friend, but without much enthusiasm, so to speak, another opportunity to more or less properly pass the evening.
The film is unlikely to scare anyone. The plot is simple, babaiman is predictable. But there's something catching on. Either the actors are good, or the film is made first-class. That is, against the background of a completely stupid and boring plot, the general atmosphere does not allow you to fall asleep and still makes you watch the film further.
I liked the cast, the guys played great. Of course, the main character is generally irresistible, as is the actor who played him. It seems like a normal guy, and as the brawl begins, turned into a real psychopath.
Special thanks to the make-up artists. These guys did the impossible, just keep an eye on it. It is impossible not to believe that Eliot did not sleep for several days. His face is literally a work of art. That was great!
More specifically, what was annoying about the film was Sasha. The actress is great, but her character is stupid. She's always sleeping! It feels like you can't wake her from a gun. It didn't look natural and stupid.
It is time to talk about a new film, which not so long ago was released and was very expected in the circles of fans to tickle their nerves.
The last few years, the film industry has almost ceased to please fans of horror with something really worthy and interesting, something fresh, exciting, ' BayBaiMan' joined the ranks of failed films.
What is this about?
I believe that the new character was supposed to be a sensation, someone who will go beyond the usual; perhaps the creators would have something worthwhile, because the idea was very not bad, interesting, but it is difficult not to notice that the prototype of the BBM was the well-known Boogeyman - the embodiment of childhood fears in a black long cloak, which is in the form of your fears and can drive you crazy. Yes, I think that the project could be implemented and could interest the viewer with the unusual plot, unexpected twists and so on, but! to write a script and twist it like a ball of yarn does not mean to create a sensation and create a furor.
Behind the sharp turns of the plot lies the inability to reveal it fully - attempts to hide the plot holes, to distract the viewer's attention from inaccuracies and omissions, from understatement. In the middle of a deftly confusing plot, a huge hole lurks. Is it supposed to be? Yes, perhaps, because no one knows the origin of the creature, but since it was so important to rid the world of BBM, then where to leave his name? Hard. It is clear, of course, that it was necessary to start the story with something, and everything started very well, but then sharply flew down the slope.
The BBM character is a very loose interpretation of Boogeyman, but if you look at the picture, you will understand what I mean. It is not only the appearance of the creature, but specifically how it acts and what role it plays. The role of victim intimidation. The point is not that some entity ' sticks ' to you and pursues, bringing ' to the handle ' the point is necessarily that we are afraid of what has no explanation. We are afraid of everything: betrayal, the death of loved ones, packs of dogs on the roads, accidents, the dark and so on. There is no need to bother over the screeners & #39 and try to scare the viewer with sharp sounds, if you take advantage of psychological pressure. The slogan says you can’t talk and think about a creature, but how can you not talk and think about what is bothering you? You want to share your anxiety and anxieties with someone, and then you realize that another person is suffering through your fault. That's all -- psychological pressure. You see images that come from a creature that cannot be talked about. You do not know how to save yourself, how to save loved ones. Curtain. Fenita la comedy.
Yes, the idea is fresh, it is something new and very interesting, it should have been, if in the middle of the plot there was not a huge hole and a wretched implementation of this idea.

Novelty from the producers of such projects as 'Somnia', 'Oculus' and many other not bad projects. This time, the bosses decided to trust little-known authors and a director with a minimal budget for insurance. As a result, they received a threefold coverage of financial costs and a hint of the emergence of a new legend of mystical horrors.
The film is really good despite its small budget. Of course, there are flaws in the film and they are big, but in general the film turned out to be meaningful, frightening and with clear potential. The biggest problem in the film is computer special effects. They look so funny and low-quality that a picky viewer can quite seriously and menacingly speak about the project. Almost amateur work ' from the knee' is able to scare away many, but, as the box office showed, a large mass of viewers forgave this drawback, more carried away by the plot than special effects. A decent camera job with good plans and small directorial chips did its job. It looks very nice. And if you do not find fault with the details, then the movie is quite tolerable and will be to the liking of all fans of the horror genre.
Separately, I will note the young actors who played average, but looked good and pleasant in the frame. The actions of the heroes were not strained or repulsed by excessive stupidity, as is usually the case in average youth horror films.
I'm sure we'll soon see a continuation of the story with more budget and more information about the new legend of night terrors.
How many of them have already been – Babaek, Bugimenov and others, and now the novelty of the season – BaiBaiMan. Welcome!
This is a mythical humanoid creature that lives in the minds of those who have heard his name. What's the knack, huh? If you hear a name, you are doomed. “Don’t think of him, don’t name him.” It sounds like a red monkey mantra.
The best thing about the film is its beginning, which turned out to be very cheerful and intriguing. After this, you immediately understand that you have to deal with the fear of such a force that makes people do even this. But expectations did not match reality.
The thoughtfulness of the TTH of an evil character for a film of this genre is quite qualitative, but still it is so stupid and detached from possible reality that it is not taken seriously for a second. This greatly affected the perception of the film, not allowing you to believe in the plot for a second. Plus, there is also a big, big question “what else is zebulo?”, in the sense of where it came from, why it is, and how to live with it?
From a technical point of view, the “Babai” itself was also performed in some way, and this was especially evident on the animal accompanying it, frankly crivoruko created using computer graphics. Babaikin’s face was not terrible, and in all his few movements, too, the angularity of computer efforts protruded. They say they made up diligently, but it turned out crap.
Standard tricks for a thriller, such as a slamming door running through the background of a shadow, suddenly opening a mysterious dark space and the like, worked out in the film very poorly. According to the laws of the thriller, the film was performed carelessly and somehow, frankly ineptly. Therefore, if from the plot side of the story at least somehow perceived with sympathy, then in terms of implementation, mostly sloppy.
The dialogue and the psychology of behavior presented all the key moments of the film too primitively and straightforwardly. As a result, the heroes simply and without any pretenses took new for themselves “rules of the game” and the gradual “sucking” into reality on the screen did not happen even for them. What to say about the audience perception. The same goes for the chemistry of the three students. The two are like lovers, the third is like a friend, but the relationship is unstable, unintriguing, not outright. It's not the actors' fault, it's just a weak plot.
Playing the role of the wedding general Carrie-Anne Moss, in my opinion, further spoiled the film. The role she got inconspicuous, there was nowhere to turn around and therefore the presence of Trinity was perceived openly inappropriate. She'd better be a librarian. . .
Conclusion. For its typical plot, the film turned out to be frankly weak. It is very mediocre, and that is its main problem. Because with the right direction, you could catch up with fog and fears. And in fact, it turned out too sweet, chewed and combed. I didn’t even think to leave the option to continue the plot in the new series, and in vain. Because the theme is so “rubber” that you can easily run an idiotic franchise like “The Call.”
So you can end the plot from the film with the words “and don’t watch it.”

Horrors began to appear more and more often, telling about incomprehensible intangible dark entities, which took from nowhere and from which there is no salvation if they chose as a victim a specific person, about whom in our country few people have heard, but in America fairy tales about them are quite well known. Suffice it to recall Boogeyman, and from the more recent Slender. There’s also a little bit of a snorkel.
All these films pass unnoticed for the mass audience, because for such they are of little interest. To my surprise, this movie paid off three times at home, while outside it earned pennies. Although for a budget of seven million, and for a modest horror film is quite a lot, you could shoot a movie a few levels higher, and what turned out not worth two. The actors are unknown, with the exception of Carrie-Anne Moss, who, it is unclear how brought into such a film, albeit for a cameo role, play ordinary, unremarkable, template and boring characters. Sometimes, as in most horror films, they act stupid or frivolous. They don’t play well and at least that’s good.
The characters are trying to find a way to escape from the evil spirit, and this can only be done by killing themselves and everyone who knows about him. Naturally, all their attempts to successfully confront the demon are in vain. BaiBaiMan himself, in the film there is almost no, he appears only at the end for a few seconds, but even his materialization does not scare and does not make at least a little tense. Detrimental for a film of this genre is the absence of frightening moments and a tense atmosphere, and I have not seen such a low quality of special effects in a movie for a long time.
In general, another private, gray unmemorable horror, with a boring narrative, lack of suspense and atmosphere and surprisingly not modest for mediocre horror budget, used inexplicably. You can easily pass by.
In recent years, it has become extremely difficult to be surprised at anything in cinema. And the problem is not that they do not know how to shoot or high-class actors do not go to film everything. It's about exhausting ideas. And if even the masters of Hollywood horror films, such as James Wan, John Carpenter and others, switch to the secondary of ideas, or even do not shy away from third-rate scenarios. We try to put hope in the dark horses. The horses we climb up on, watching trailers and thawing hope: now we're going to eat popcorn. The same non-existent horse was the film Stacey Title 'BiBiMan' based on the story by Robert Schneck 'Bridge to Tel Island'.
Plot
The story is extremely uncomplicated and more than that: met us since the zero years at least 4 times - in the series of films Boogeyman. So, three students (Elliot and Sasha, John) decided that the dorm was too small for them to rent a house. Where creepy things start to happen, after Elliot discovers the strange piece of paper that read 'Don't give a name! Don't think about it!' and on the substrate - The Bye Bye Man. That's actually all the chimes. But let me tell you right away, the movie begins just fine. Before we are transferred to the main story, cinema really leaves a very positive impression. It seems that it would be better to shoot a short film on this ' prequel' base than what came out in the end.
Scenario
The roughness of the plot could be forgotten if the script did not glow with huge holes and absurdities. After all, you can shoot quite spectacular on a beaten plot, ' goose' cinema: ' Paranormal phenomenon' a vivid example of this. But in BaiBaiMan, everything is bad: the dialogues are stupid, the script moves are far-fetched, all the deaths look ridiculous, and those that could take the breath - remained behind the scenes, flashing on the screen. The expanded version contains only 4 scenes, which in fact do not add anything new to the film, stretching the timekeeping for an extra 5 minutes. Sadly, all that is shown in the film is a set of sliced scenes with an attempt to catch up with suspense, make one successful (yes, yes, it is a successful) trick with your ears and completely lose strength in the end, where for 15 minutes of filming there are, apparently, $ 500.
And the Glavgad - BaiBaiMan, in fact, faceless something, and if it was not on the screen ever for the whole film - would not change absolutely nothing, because they are clearly not trying to scare them here, unlike the same Boogeyman.
Actors
It's hard to single out anyone. We are actively trying to show the acting talent of Douglas Smith (Elliot), who throughout the film suffers and portrays the torment of someone who knows what should not. She's slowly going crazy. But it looks like a morning in kindergarten: you can see that he is trying, you can see that in general it does what the director said to him and, unfortunately, it is also childish all ultimately on the screen.
Cressida Bonnas and Lucien Laviscot, who played Elliot’s lover Sasha and John’s friend, are absolutely gray. The girl, moreover, failed the tearful scene of suffering, and there was a feeling that she was simply holding back laughter, and not showing sadness. But the sadness was greater for the audience. Lucien had too little screen time to give him an adequate assessment, he is like a player who came on as a substitute for the last 5 minutes in football: if he did not commit a feat, then you will die in oblivion.
Well, I would especially like to note the disgusting game of the cult Trinity - Carrie-Anne Moss. How it was possible to slide like this - only Neo knows.
Video and sound
Okay, we've got a bad script, a mediocre acting, but can we at least get everything done? Definitely, those first minutes before the title is a chicly shot independent product, acting as a preface. Here and camera work, and riot of colors and chic sound. But now the film begins, and it’s as if the entire crew and post-production bundle have been replaced: boring, similar close-ups, weakly intriguing angles, the non-intimidating sound of the screenmers, and only dark, slightly yellowish tones. All this is depressing, not the atmosphere. The same James Wan, having completely failed the second part 'Spells' - took it out to create an atmospheric picture: a blue-blue filter during horror and warm tones of the day, angles in the full size of a person's growth, camera hits when necessary - and this was made up for the loss of an adequate screenwriter and story. Stacey Title couldn't do 10% of the task.
Result
A promising trailer, a chic start and a completely failed movie. There is no fear, no horror, no hype, no semblance of humor that loulewell horrors do not disdain. There's nothing in this movie. Even the villain, who is a faceless creature, allegedly pursuing ... and wait, what is his purpose? They didn't tell us that either. Alas, even for the average popcorn this movie is not suitable. Watching is boring and difficult, and therefore - do not waste your time.
Ratings
With today’s inexplicable passion of mankind for everything supernatural, probably in every corner of the world there is a person who considers it his duty to collect urban horror legends about the contacts of his compatriots with various kinds of devils. One of these “collectors”, claiming that each of the stories he collected is based on real events (who would doubt it!), is an American Robert Damon Schneck, whose story “Bridge to Body Island” formed the basis of the new teenage horror film “BiBiMan”.
Three classmates rent an old house near the campus. Among the things left by the former tenants, they discover something that awakens the ancient Evil, capable, like a virus, of penetrating and controlling the consciousness of its new masters. In an attempt to find out something about the otherworldly entity that has seized their minds, the guys become unwitting carriers of the "virus" - after all, according to the unwritten code of existence of BaiBaiMen, you can not only tell anyone about him, but even mention his name.
American director Stacey Title confidently steps onto the field, trampled before her by “Calls”, “Slander” and unexpectedly became a box office hit “It” – stories of otherworldly evil, materializing whenever his name is pronounced aloud or thought about him. The concept of the film does not shine with freshness, so the stamps in the form of descending into dark cellars, appearing from nowhere burning eyes or splitting into groups in an empty house, Title can not be avoided, but it is nevertheless curious about its potential - the three main characters must kill everyone who knows anything about the monster, including themselves, in order to prevent the spread of the virus. Title realizes the potential only partially, skillfully whipping up the atmosphere of the gradually coming madness of the main characters with their psychedelic visions, making each other suspect of betrayal and betrayal, which leads to an inevitable surge of violence in the finale. Then, however, Tracy destroys the rational grain of his film at the root by trying to present to the viewer the roots of the antagonist’s origin, the truth throws this case halfway, and failing to imagine the intelligible backstory of BaiBiMan, which somewhat lubricates the positive opinion about the film that formed before this turn – it was necessary either to build on the image of evil “meat”, or leave its origin without explanation, as Mitchell did in his “It”. Had Tracy decided to take one of these diametrically opposite steps, something worthwhile could have come out of her film, and in the end it turned out, albeit not the worst horror movie that has reached our theaters recently, but against the background of more successful representatives of the genre, you will neither name it nor think about it.

“BiBiMan” was the movie I was looking forward to. The project seemed very interesting to me, even though I knew almost nothing about it. Details of the plot, conceptual settings, general messages were not disclosed either at the stage of creation or at the postpradaxhen stage. Honestly, even from the trailer it was not clear what the film was about, but the oppressive atmosphere of mystery kept waiting for “BiBiMan”. And so, while watching the film itself, I came up with ideas about how BuyBiMan could be created. A group of ambitious filmmakers led by Stacey Title decided to create something breakthrough in the genre of horror. A new word in the genre; an unusual picture, which, on the one hand, will defend the great traditions of the genre, laid down, probably, still by Carpenter, but, on the other hand, will be focused on a modern audience. But after a couple of days or weeks of discussing the script, the team behind “BiBiMan” realized that it was too difficult, and Stacey Taitle was untalented (otherwise, how do you justify the fact that she is practically unknown, and her high point in the form of an Oscar nomination was more than 10 years ago?). So some of the original material decided to just shovel, shamelessly steal ideas from other films, and then mix everything into a cinematic parade of indifference. And the icing on the cake is the fact that “BiBiMan” was released on the screens at the most unfortunate time for horror – January, the time of Christmas movies and New Year’s fairy tales.
The plot follows three students who somehow managed to rent a house more spacious than the hotel from The Shining. As soon as they settled there, as something unusual began to happen: strange sounds, the girl begins an alarming cough, tension grows between the three. Then one of the students found a strange note that read: “Don’t talk about him, don’t think about him” and the signature of a certain “BiBiMan”. The evil spirit is caused by the pronunciation of its name; it penetrates the minds of the victims, makes them see things that do not exist, and thus leads to madness and suicide. As if from a rather atmospheric mystical horror film "Candyman" pulled out the entire detective component and left only the suffering of three teenagers.
To be honest, despite the intriguing storyline, everything that happens is somehow too predictable and secondary. First of all, because of the characters and BaiBiMan himself. The fact is that, despite all the mystery of the evil spirit, it does not inflame fear. The various rules concerning the sphere of his supernatural powers are so poorly explained that one is more likely to be confused than frightened while watching. As for the dreadful visions that the spirit sends to its victims, which are supposed to drive teenagers to the point of insanity... well, suffice it to say that they correspond to the PG-13 rating in the American box office. Of course, the maggot moment was nasty, but not scary, and one scene where the characters wander into some cold and gloomy American wilderness pleasantly surprised me. Until the moment I realized that it must have been an ordinary field shooting at the moment when the bad weather turned out.
The characters, unfortunately, also came out bland and uninteresting. All the main three and their psychic friend are absolutely not remembered. The only notable characters appear in the last third of the film. There are a number of compelling scenes with Carrie-Anne Moss, though it feels like she was aware of how ridiculous a project she was forced to take part in. At the moment of denouement, Oscar winner Faye Dunaway appears. Like most scenes, the scene with her is silly, but at least it creates some tension.
“BiBiMan” had a relatively modest plot and most of all this is manifested in special effects. They're more funny than scary here. Even a conscious effort to imagine that BaiBaiMan’s satellite in the form of a strange, refreshed dog is a real creature is broken up by monstrously poor green screen and graphics from the early 2000s.
However, it cannot be said that “BiBiMan” came out low-quality. At a separate stage, it seems, the creators tried. For example, the team knew exactly how to shoot a real haunted house (general plans of the premises): the eerie scenery was done quite well. Or, for example, the oppressive atmosphere of mystery, when the characters discover strange writings. In some moments, the creators play well with the imagination of the viewer – the most sinister events remain behind the scenes, leaving room for their own reflection and speculation. It is a pity that there are very few such moments.
But the most important thing about “BiBiMan” is that horror film that is so boring and devoid of interest that, in the end, the whole range of feelings from watching turns into anger. Yes, in anger. First, anger at the creators that with the huge potential of ideas and an impressive collection of ideas within their own mythology, the creators shot a frankly passing picture. And, secondly, anger at the fact that it is not possible to call “BiBiMan” catastrophic with all desire – nevertheless, I personally appreciated both the effort and some ideas (for example, that fear is only worth it). I hope that the mythology will be revealed in possible sequels, because the awkward final scene clearly hints at a sequel. Let’s hope that “BiBiMan” was told not “goodbye”, but “goodbye”.

Horror films of recent years, well, not at all happy in terms of the novelty of the plot and script. All of these people have been seen in countless numbers. Well, 2017 in the yard, when going to the cinema, there was a thought that this time they would try to shoot something for a sophisticated viewer. Otherwise, the point is to engage in the production of a very not terrible kin? I am a naive observer, very naive.
The plot of Bai-Bai-Men is simple as a children’s rattle: three students, among them necessarily a “good guy” (trademark in such cases is attached as something inseparable, so this hero is always typical in any of the horror films), an overly chatty Negro (in 99% of films of this genre, a Negro is killed first) and a young lady, who here is exclusively a background for dilution, rent a house in the wilderness for three. They (suddenly, aha) are at the epicenter of events, and then rushed and twisted.
Noted the guys housewarming, decided to spiritualistic session nerves to tickle and drunken head. And then the lady’s friend arrived with her superpowers and the voices of the dead in her head. And a good guy, take the name of the local girl. The end is a little predictable – everyone is gradually going crazy trying not to think or say the name of someone – you can’t name – killing each other.
Was it scary? Nope. Personally, I was scared only once, and that is more from waiting for some terrible face a la Astral, who ended up an anorexic citizen with chronic sleep deprivation. In general, on the appearance of Bai-Bai-Men, the creators significantly saved as well as on the history of the formation of this phenomenon, and the hellish dog of the citizen was more frightened by the hellish graphics of the year from 2003. Then all these angular and poorly textured characters would be just right.
The script of the film is frankly weak, with a lot of incomprehensible or undisclosed moments. Why would an infernal, sleepless citizen need a train? And the emphasis on this train in the film is made countless times. The movie isn't about a traveler. The same question to the theme of a pair of ancient coins that are everywhere flashing in the frame, but do not take roles in the plot. And where did this chthonic evil come from, which for many years has been rustling around the whole district, while either they do not know about it or they do not remember it.
By the end, it is simply boring to watch, especially since the acting does not withstand any criticism. Douglas Smith on any occasion makes his eyes skip, and so diligently that in the state of mind of his hero you begin to doubt from the first minutes. Cressida Bonas is more remembered for her role as a party girl and romance with Prince Harry than her career as an actress. And in this film, she is generally rubber Zina, who is always cold and tearful. It simply cannot generate other emotions. But Doug Jones did well, with his task of ominously walking and no less ominously silent coped with "hurrah". “Would you show me someone who couldn’t?”
In general, the movie is boring, typical and memorable. Another film in the treasury of infernals from the other world, which the able-bodied population of American taxpayers do not give rest. The bright moments are the choice of locations and costumes of heroes who play the residents of the town in the 60s. The visual image is nice and nothing more. The meaning of the film does not carry exactly. And attempts to depict the struggle of reason with evil remained attempts.

It is not clear how such a completely “no” horror film could not only get rental in the United States and the world, but also bring great profit in the homeland. The second question as in such a film was Cary Ann Moss, maybe she is a friend of the director or something else, but her episodic phenomenon is completely unclear, she now seems to me to be raised thanks to roles in Netflix projects (Iron Fist, Jessica Jones).
At least this film can definitely be called horrors, with all the necessary paraphernalia, a frightening legend, a “monster” like the bloody Mary or Samara from the “bell” only here is a feature in pronouncing his name and thoughts about him, but also extremely beaten.
The plot is frankly boring and very banal, there is no serious immersion in the mystical aspects of the creature, with scenes of murders, too, everything is modest, creaking floors, shadows and visions will not be enough.
In general, the scenario is very “curved” and hence all the troubles ...
Very sad and not very interesting.
You can’t find it in our reality, but you don’t have to look for it because it will find you. You will not be able to escape from it, because it will get into your head and drive you crazy. When you see something that doesn’t exist or hear sounds that don’t exist, know it’s him. The more you think about him, the closer he is. The more you fear, the stronger it becomes. It feeds on your fears, and it is you who make it stronger. To stay true, you'd better never hear his name. And if they do, it is better to forget quickly, otherwise he will come to you and take everything.
With all the abundance of template and minimal funding for the project, the picture still manages to turn out atmospheric and this is its main advantage against the background of numerous and similar clones of Candyman. Thanks to good directorial finds and a good soundtrack, she takes you into her mystical world and immerses you in an atmosphere of madness. Without setting the task to really scare the viewer, the picture still manages to drag him into his mystical madness. And if nothing new in terms of “fear” it does not offer, it does not mean that it is simply not interesting to watch.
Cinema about "about whom you can not think and who can not be called" is not a new word in the genre, in which it is now fundamentally difficult to come up with something fresh and you can stand out only due to competent directing and good staging. This is just a decent film, which due to its mystical disorder and madness, against the background of good acting parts and not the worst plot, is quite capable of attracting an audience. The audience, and in addition to the one that actually understands the numerous thrashes with similar ideas.
Babaduk, Slander, BaiBaiMan... How many strange and little-talking names and nicknames will filmmakers come up with their monsters?
10 years later, director Stacey Title came out of the shadows, presenting the horror film “Bai ByMan” to the public. She was nominated for an Oscar in 1994, but I don’t know much about that. I only saw her film Last Dinner with Cam Diaz and Annabeth Gish. And that's a long time ago.
The film with which she returned to the cinema is similar to most horror films and tells about an incomprehensible monster that leads to the frenzy of innocent people. Students, for the most part. Two best friends and the girl of one of them rent a house, so that in everyday life it was easier for everyone, and more fun, so that it was too. The question immediately arises: where the hell is the house, in some forest room more often – there was nothing closer to college more suitable? Yes, you can make an amendment to the fact that they say that students do not have money, but, sorry, the character of Lucien Laviscont (he is a man) rolls out on the Mustang, and the car is not killed by years and the previous owners, and well-groomed, it clearly invested a lot of money.
Dealing with things in the basement, the guys discover strange recordings, after reading which Ono begins to terrorize the guys, saturating their lives with nightmares and frightening hallucinations. Okay, that sounds good. Personally, I sometimes enjoy watching films in which the characters do not distinguish reality from fiction and can go on reckless acts just because they have something in them.
The film tells about the events taking place only here and now, plus catches a little backstory, but the viewer will not be destined to find out where the monster came from - it is the embodiment of someone's nightmares, a curse imposed on some thing or akin to "Candyman" - it is worth saying his name and as if an annoying wasp BaiBiMan will circle around you. Although, if you recall the old horror movie “Candyman” with Tony Todd in the title role, there in the second part seems to tell in detail where “Sweet Man” came from and why he wears a hook instead of one hand. In short, the events of our day, those that occurred in 1969, do not shed light on the cause of the appearance of the ghoul in the hood. Plus, it does not explain why he uses coins, why his arrival is preceded by grinding and why some hellish dog acts as his faithful companion.
But “BiBiMan” clearly and quite brazenly uses the techniques of “Harry Potter”, trying to convince the viewer that the name of the monster can not be pronounced aki name Volanda De Mort. Plus, you can't think about him either. But in this you can find a plus, because in the horror Stacy confirms the uppermost truth: the less we try to think about something unpleasant for us, the more we think about it, experience, digest within ourselves.
I didn’t like the actors at all. Maybe the director recruited guys from the last year of university, where they teach actors? Well, if so, by the last year of training, the actors had approached completely untrained. Unbelievable emotions of fear, horror, experience, sympathy, shock, flashing on the faces of the trio of young people are read very clearly and this, of course, does not play into the hands of “BiBiMan”. As befits the horror of recent years, the creators try to focus on the last scenes, making it clear that not everything is so simple and the monster can not get rid of. To sum up, I will say this: this movie is no different from a number of similar to it, it is not catchy and is not excessively scary, it consists of a set of well-known clichés, such as: a dark and old basement with frightening creaks, the mandatory presence of a dramatic denouement, an old house on the outskirts with old things, the appearance for a minute and the death of secondary characters, etc. "BiBiMan" can be seen for a change and if you have nothing more to do, but will you enjoy it, I will not say.
And of course, the image of the evil creature - the director and Ko did not think of anything new and did not invent the wheel, making up a man, making him a couple of scars on the hare and inserting frightening lenses into his eyes. That's it. Just like in 'Somnia'.
But look at you. I do not impose my opinion on anyone.
Obviously, it is possible to meet something absolutely original, new and fresh in the genre of horror films extremely and extremely rare. When both, most members of the genre simply copy each other either completely or in separate details. But even in such conditions of creativity, it is sometimes possible to meet those very rare examples of films that even all these worn-out plot twists manage to present in at least an interesting form. Something similar, judging by the trailer promised and this film director Stacy Title, but the miracle as they say did not happen.
I have not read the original book “Bridge on Body Island” by occult historian Robert Schneck, which promises that “it is based on real events” that occurred in a group of American students in 1990. Therefore, I cannot judge the quality of the adaptation of the literary source and the reality of its content.
Whatever it was, the plot of this tape is a real storehouse of numerous cinematic cliches of the genre. Where the content of such films as “Oculus”, “Boogeyman”, “Nightmare on Elm Street” and many others can be easily traced. The original idea of the tape, despite its secondary nature, in itself is not bad enough. But the picture was blown up precisely in its implementation. When having a fairly good idea, the creators of the film not only give reasonable explanations of what is happening, but also more confuse the audience with an abundance of “false” and unnecessary storylines. Including the absolutely illogical and cretinistic actions of the main characters of the picture, for which they themselves want to “sew” even without the influence of the forces of BaiBaiMen.
The visual component of the tape turned out not bad enough, but not particularly outstanding. Although what to expect from the director Stacey Title, who did not remove anything worthwhile during her modest career and did not do anything at all for long 10 years. The picture turned out to be very stylish and clip, but behind all this, with all the attempts of the director, there is no atmosphere of tension, no horror, no suspense, or anything else. Only by hammering a nail into the coffin lid with BU moments that lose both in terms of quality and quantity.
The only unambiguous advantage of the picture is the magnificent musical component of the tape performed by the collective The Newton Brothers, which has long managed to eat a dog in this genre. There can be no question of any melody, but it is the music of Newtons that gives the picture at least a fraction of the necessary atmosphericity and impresses with a rather extraordinary sound and performance.
Very controversially played and the entire cast led by the performers of the main roles. In some places too overplaying, and in other places on the contrary - missing the necessary emotions to reflect the natural game. Be that as it may, it would even be foolish to expect another from characters so poorly written in the script. Even Doug Jones in the image of BaiBiMan was not allowed to play at all.

BaiBaiMan is an absolutely scanty, tedious and passable horror film, which absorbed all the best of such representatives of the genre as "Boogeyman", "Oculus" and "Nightmare on Elm Street", but did not find the strength to properly dispose of the available material. Allowing you to either easily drop the movie viewing incomplete, or greedily get carried away by the countdown on the final credits.
I can't say this movie is "very good" or "very bad." It is mediocre, but it has its advantages, which I will tell you.
1. The painting has an atmosphere. This is very important for any thriller or horror film. It was a pleasure to watch the old house keep its secrets. A raid of gloomy interiors straight from the 60s also played into the picture.
The world shown by the director resembles the world of children's horror films by Stein. We managed to create a visual series that helps to plunge into the atmosphere of madness of the main characters.
2. For such a "passing" horror, the actors are selected just right. No one beat out stupidity, nor did they show something incredible and new. The harmony of the story and the characters is important. Everyone played well in this story.
3. The idea itself, although not new, seemed interesting to me. The inability to distinguish the truth from the games of reason is truly terrifying. But in order to develop the idea, the film lacked some things.
Cons:
1. Disgusting special effects. I'd rather not have them, honestly. That would leave the imprint of some thriller. Introduced a drawn (poorly) freak - not scary, comical, childish.
2. The plot was quite cheerful until it approached the end. As it often happens in a not-so-good movie, the finale is fused godlessly and irrevocably. I don’t know why or why it was done, but it was the denouement that made the movie even weaker. The last scenes tried to rehabilitate, but it turned out poorly.
3. The father of the main character after the shot calmly got into the car and left. I didn't understand why it was done. I even thought he was crazy. And no justification. What did the author mean by that?
In general, the horror is watchable, but it is typical. You can score an empty evening. Going to the cinema is definitely not worth it. I don’t want to review it.
There are movies that you’re glad you didn’t go to the cinema. “Bai bye man” for our family was just such a case. By the way, the trailer for this film, we saw while waiting for the beginning of one of the films in the theater, a month ago. Then, the content of the trailer interested us, and we firmly decided to go to it. It was not possible to go, but the viewing took place. Good to be home.
Our family filmosophy is that, whatever the movie is, we don't see it as wasted time. We see this as an investment of our time in experience. This experience is not always positive. In fact, this happened with “Bai by me”: the experience failed.
In my opinion, such a category of films as “horror movies” is not such a simple form, as it seems at first glance. Adding the effect of “Boo!”, distributing frightened facial expressions to actors, creating a villain and decorating it with afterlife musical effects is not enough. It seems to me (and this is my personal set of parameters), a good horror film should have the following components: a thoughtful story of the villain, a logical causal relationship between the events of the film, causing creepy sensations, entourage and adequate characters (by saying “adequate”, I mean the fact that they do not behave like complete idiots). I am even ready to forgive the characters their eternal desire for separation at the most critical moment (by the way, I read somewhere that people in real life, such behavior is very peculiar). Evaluating this film by my criteria, I was not able to assess positively any of them.
So what we got when we watched this movie.
The trailer showed the groundwork for the fact that there will be a certain force in the film that pushes people to commit unthinkable deeds. The subject, of course, is quite battered, but the human imagination has no limits and who knows it (we thought), how else can you twist this cliché. In the end, this evil spirit could be portrayed as a big black question mark, because wherever it appeared in the film, I immediately had two questions: “Where are you from?” and “What is your motivation?” Unfortunately, the film left no answers. So this “evil force” remained in my perception as an evil created for the banal necessity of its presence in the film. The only thing I liked about the villain is the image in which he was dressed: it turned out a little creepy.
Speaking of causation, I think it was a complete failure. There was a constant impression that, in the process, either the director spilled coffee on part of the film, or the writer lost part of the manuscript, or the editor cut out what, in his opinion, was unnecessary (apparently, almost ALL was unnecessary). What I'm saying is that the plot of the film is shown as if it was made up of scraps. It was morning. It was night. One of the actions of the heroes was shown - Batz! - another scene (without explaining the reasons for the demonstration of the first one). That's the whole movie. Because of what, sometimes, I wanted to exclaim: “Why did I even show this?”
As for the notorious entourage, here, in the form of a location, another cliché was used. But the cliché was so crudely worked out that, as it seemed to me, it would be possible to do without it at all: practically, nothing would have changed. The schedule deserves special attention here. That is, using nothing but special effects. I don’t know if it was the author’s idea that they looked like DOOMa graphics on PC, the beginning of the two thousandth years, but, frankly, in 2017 it looks, to put it mildly, strange.
Of course, it is impossible not to mention the heroes and actors who performed such. Thanks to the creators of this film, the characters and their actions created a complete feeling that I was watching a horror version of The Benny Hill Show, because otherwise their behavior, at times, was difficult to explain. One gets the feeling that the actors were constantly whispered in between shootings: “In any incomprehensible situation, make a perplexed face.” Well, that's what they did. I was truly sorry to see Carrie-Anne-Moss, the legendary Trinity from The Matrix, in this film: the contrast between The Matrix and Buy Bye Men is painful.
This film, rather, resembles the graduation work of a student of the director's faculty. Although, this, I will insult some of the works performed at a higher level, but this is exactly the impression. The impression “only to remove and release” is not supported by either the energy of the film or the charisma of the actors.
As a result, in our family, the film went to the piggy bank “Buy by the movies”, which can never be viewed again.

What can you expect from a film that is about some monster, about which you can not think and not call his name? "Boogeyman", "Jeepers Creepers", "Kendyman" - the list can go on, but all films on such topics have never caused a serious look at them, so such a bitter reception "BayMan" looks not quite fair.
I believe that even on the contrary, the film is quite successfully positioned under the youth horror story, and in addition to the standard and banal things that are present in every second horror, I did not see anything unusually disgusting at all. Student friends in the nightstand found someone's note, read one of them that piece of paper, told others, and now something terrible is following them.
It is impossible to tell anyone clearly, but it is interesting what kind of character this is so interesting, which, by the way, has a good feng shui, there is also a hellish dog without skin. Then everything is banal, standard, predictable - this comrade still comprehends some of the heroes, someone not especially, but for the entertainment plan "BiBiMan" is not the worst option.
In principle, the description of the film should give a clear idea of what this film is. If you are ready to close your eyes to the lack of logic and rationality, then the film is suitable for one time.

From the very beginning of this work, it does not seem serious, 3 college students are settled in a huge two-storey house. If it were 3 guys or 3 girls then it would not seem so absurd, and so the beginning of the film is like settling a Swedish family in a “cheap house”. It is insanely embarrassing that the guys are trying to save money on renting a house, so they find the cheapest and shoot it together while one of the characters in this picture has a pretty good car and the second car is also not worse. Then everything is under the copier, as we are used to seeing: the party, someone finds something, everyone is having fun, the end of the party, sat down and guessed and then Batz, begins. Who is this great and terrible, powerful and invincible bai bai men we will not know.
Then everything is like a copier: a couple of screeners, the main characters go crazy, starting to tell everyone about who can not talk and begins a mass madhouse, everyone cuts, beats, kills each other, the film is boring, not terrible, not interesting, not thought out, the feeling that the script was written by a person who has no fantasy at all there is no, as if he just reviewed a bunch of horror films and riveted something similar from the "main parts", 21 century in the yard and we are trying to scare Uncle Step in the hood, upset that the film we did not learn anything about her 4 times in the house, why did not happen to her little one? The idea for a horror film is banal, but interesting, you could inflate the film really something good! Take more emotional akiers, come up with more thoughtful dialogues, give more space in the movie to the monster itself, or at least contribute a little more screamers and it would be better. I don't recommend watching a movie. A score of 1/10 simply because there is nothing to bet on another 9 points.
P.s. The little girl found a bedside table in the bushes, as if she was standing around the corner waiting to be thrown away.
Yes, yes, there was a refrigerator-killer, mirror-killer, box-killer, picture-killer, condom-killer, tomatoes-killers, but to bedside table, it is fresh, fresh.
I was able to watch the Russian premiere again. Focus, though.
Well, there's nothing really new to show, standard scarecrow. But this is what caught my eye. How much do I remember the latest or not very horrors ' mystical ' plan, though ' Candyman', ' Oculus', ' what else is there, ' Casket of the Curse', but at least in ' Nightmare on Elm Street' - in all their authors, through the mouth of some professor or book from the library, bothered to explain in the most general terms what is the otherworldly hero of the film? This is, for example, a maniac who became a victim of lynching, an evil mirror made by a mad occultist, an ancient pagan demon, etc. There was no such explanation, casually, only in the film 'Babaduk', but he stands alone and this approach, in my opinion, is justified by the fact that the authors deliberately do not give an answer, so that the audience themselves decide whether this creature exists or the main character went mentally from the adversity that fell on her. Now the question is, where and who is Bai Bai Meng? Okay, let's not worry.
Otherwise, the content of the film is extremely standard, and special effects are, say, inexpensive. The appearance of faces in the mirror, eyes in the hallway and people in dark corners - all this has already been somewhere, and most importantly - it has very little impact on the characters. You can't see the fear in them or me. The main characters are frankly boring. They are so similar that, in my opinion, in this ' love triangle' they could be swapped in places in any combination (and what would be more interesting!). Play actors - to become undisclosed characters. Not saving the situation and the appearance in the film released in circulation Fay Dunnaway and Carrie Ann Moss. Especially idiotic role, of course, in the second. Well, really, if they have such a police force that releases such people after such interrogations, even without immediately turning them into a fool, then oh.
I'm sick of psychic scenes in these horror movies. Psychics always see everything from the beginning of the film, but they are always silent and make scary eyes, or at best, speak in riddles. Don't expect any help from them! Fraudsters! From this cliché already need to leave in horror films, it has outlived itself and does not add any horror or suspense.
And I'm thinking, because for new victims, shit doesn't start when they find out about the monster, it starts when the name comes out. Here's Faye Dunnaway, who obviously knows about this creature, but just doesn't know the name and lives chorusically for many years. Well, what was the problem for the heroes to discuss the main villain without calling him by name? Did they not watch 'Harry Potter'? And you know who and #39, and there is no problem. Don’t you think that the main problem of the film is sucked out of your finger? The main thing was to burn the nightstand in time.
In general, a movie to fill a place in the rental of cinemas.
'Don't think of him. Don't call him. Don't think about him. Don't call him.'
American cinema is bursting with all sorts of horrors with disgusting quality. Some of them have a really good idea, but at the same time, extremely mediocre implementation, and some are generally mediocre in every sense and are nothing more than thrash crafts. So Stacy Title may be familiar to few viewers on this ' marvelous' work as 'Snoop Dogg's Horror Quarter'. It would seem that the person is almost certainly stuck in the shooting of frankly passing and mediocre horror films, but, as it turned out, perhaps for Stacey Title is still not lost.
The plot of the picture introduces us to a small group of students of one of the colleges. The guys rent a rather large house for themselves and have a great time in it, outside the walls of the educational institution. But overnight, the happy student life is destroyed as they stumble upon the secret name of someone who cannot be mentioned or even thought of. Otherwise, this creature is able to bring the most incredible visions and drive crazy anyone who only knows his name.
In fact, the first half of the work looks very much like all the signs of a really mediocre horror movie. But fortunately, all this is corrected already in the second part of the picture, which more and more manages to intrigue, and makes you wait for one or another outcome. Yes, there are a number of shortcomings here, which may well include the not too successful atmosphere, with it there are obvious problems. And the very concept of the transmitted curse has been known since the time of the same 'Call' and recently is gaining popularity again. Only here, in addition to this, also stuck echoes of the same ' Jeepers Creepers'. The local reaper looks a little rustic, but within the budget, he clearly worked well. In standard horror films, you rarely have to count on a really decent cast, but here, everyone coped just fine, the main trio in the person of Douglas Smith, Lucien Laviscont and Cressida Bonas perfectly managed to portray exactly what was required of them - real madness.
I don’t think Stacy Title really had the task of scaring the viewer. And what can scare experienced lovers of horror? Her task was different: to show confusion, panic, distrust and at the end of it all - complete madness, which results in a very decent ending, by the standards of horror films of course. This is not a new word in the genre and not a killer of similar works in the plot, it is just a good film that is quite capable of attracting the viewer, offering him a simple, but not the worst plot, an excellent acting, as well as a tolerable mystical component. And all this is laced with a very good result. It is a pity only that they could not realize a really high-quality atmosphere, and musical accompaniment, as in the same ' It follows' But nevertheless, the film is not the weakest link and it is worth looking at it.

There are films that, when you read the synopsis and watch the trailer, seem not to be fresh and original, but at least worthy of attention. “BiBiMan” from afar I saw this. Indeed, the evil spirit, the very thought of which can bring you a terrible curse, and even the tickling inscription “Based on true events” is present – I, as a big fan of the genre, am intrigued. However, on closer inspection, "BiBiMan" turns out to be a cheap secondary.
The first thing that catches your eye (and upsets you) is the very bad effects. Guys, we live in 2017, and this is not a coursework of the students of the director's faculty! The script is replete with worn-out clichés (again, 2017 is in the yard, and they are still trying to scare us with sudden “Boo!”), and the plot twists are easily foreseen. The acting game is such that there is no one to praise or scold - everyone is equally sluggish and bland, and this is not surprising, because instead of integral characters, there is rather a set of types indicated by a dotted set. The evil spirit that terrorizes the main characters - a certain mixture of Freddy Kruger and Voldemort (I swear, every time he threw up his hand, I expected to hear "Avada Kedavra") and the resemblance to the latter finally destroyed for me all the strained sapiens of the picture, turning "BiBiMan" into a parody comedy. It remains only to say “Bi-Bi-Bi-Man” and wish people not to spend money (next week the film is released in wide Russian distribution) and the time for this is completely unnecessary to watch the movie.
