In Russia, as they say, genre cinema is not developed. That's partly true. Films-catastrophes of the Soviet era can be counted on fingers, and in the post-Soviet period there are not so many of them. Time passed and things moved slowly, but in 2012 the first tests began. Over the "Metro" worked long and diligently. Almost all the scenes were filmed not in the real subway, but in the scenery, and it’s just great! But having coped well with the visual, the director failed to please us with the drama as well.
The fact that the film is Russian is clear not so much in the locations, but in the dialogues and emotions of the characters. One of the characteristic features of the Russian cinema of the third millennium is the unjustified desire of some directors to demonstrate some mysterious feelings that appear in hints, but still noticeable. The relationship of the main characters, which in divorce, in theory, it would be nice to weave it into the plot, but the film tries to stubbornly divide them. Why do this is unclear, especially since not all actors play well. Some scenes like a failed run-up to a girl in the carriage are even awkward to watch, and if you remove the whole disaster from the plot, then what remains? There will remain a rather primitive conflict, which is performed at the level of television series.
At the same time, the train crash is shown impressively. Operator, sound operator and creators of special effects tried to glory, they can be praised. A little upset only the darkening of the image . Since the events take place in Moscow, the script does not miss the opportunity to tell the audience a little about the urban legend with a secret station, and this is a quite successful decision. At the moment of the disaster, the characters behave differently, everyone survives as much as they can, and in this respect everything is also fine. By the way, the threats of such man-made disasters were and still are relevant. And not only in Moscow. Powerful breakthroughs of water in the metro or sewerage occurred, for example, in St. Petersburg in the 1990s and in Volgograd in 2022. It is such an element - water! However, some topics in Metro are not fully disclosed. The gurgling taps that appear in a couple of scenes suggest that something will happen to them in the future. Not necessarily related to flooding. But 10 minutes, 20, 30, and nothing happens.
For the fact that this film reminds us of safety, it can be praised. But in many other respects it turned out to be unfinished.
I don’t remember when I put this film in ‘I’ll be watching’, but it’s been years. With great difficulty, I decided to watch this film, but to say that I regretted the time spent would be wrong, since the movie was not so bad, and for Russian cinema is very worthy. So let’s move on to the review of the movie by Anton Megerdichev “Metro”.
I will evaluate the film by such criteria as the plot, acting, atmosphere and soundtrack.
Plot: In a not the happiest family, where the wife cheats on her husband and boss, the wife had to walk her daughter to school inside the subway, which on this day there was a leak that threatens a huge catastrophe with large human deaths. Words cannot express how tired I am of these Russian films, the plot of which is based on the same thing, namely, one spouse cheats on another, and everything else is built on this basis. Unfortunately, this film is no exception either. This is what the film says from the very first minute. But there is a fresh idea in this film, namely a disaster inside the subway, in which each person reveals himself in a new way. In this story you can even see a message or a story about the brutal Russian realities, when civil servants do not care about any minor breakdowns, and that because of one little thing, everything can turn into very bad consequences. Unfortunately, Russian cinema is happy with good compositions only when the mistakes and mistakes of the state in any sphere are described. For such a reception of narration and disclosure of the plot, this film deserves only a plus. The director’s work has also been well done. There is a good structure in which the logical chain is not lost and one scene flows smoothly from another. There are several storylines that intersect with the main one, and this intersection is justified and has its own logic, which also made me very happy, since for a Russian film, this is a rarity. There's plenty of cliché in the movie. There are many ridiculous coincidences and so on, but all this does not always make a film work bad.
Acting: I was very pleased with the acting. In Russian cinema, unfortunately, actors are often sloppy, but here each character played quite well. There were even famous actors, such as Svetlana Khodchenkova, who played the role of Irina’s wife. Other characters, unfortunately, are not known to the general public, but at least Sergey Puskepalis, who played the role of the husband of Irina Garin and Anatoly Bely, who played the role of the boss of Irina Konstantinov, I must single out, since these are the actors of the first plan. I cannot say anything bad about the acting of these heroes, since they played their roles with dignity, in principle, like Svetlana Khodchenkova. But, of course, the actors of the second plan absolutely do not remember that the problem of all Russian films, as the background is worked out very rarely. But this does not justify this movie, as it is a minus, and nothing can be done about it. As a reviewer, I cannot forgive the film. Character prescribing is also a problem of Russian films, here it is also a rather weak side. Even the heroes of the first plan are not particularly spelled out, and I am already silent about the heroes of the second plan, this is already a mistake of the writers and the director.
Atmosphere: For the thriller, which is Metro, the atmosphere is very important. In this film, that same suspense is conveyed very strongly. When you are in this flooded subway, you are constantly waiting for something worse, and from the helplessness of the heroes before the natural phenomenon, this suspense only increases. Yes, and the location itself for a good thriller is very suitable, as proof you can cite the movie “Crip” where the main actions also take place in the subway. Therefore, it is very difficult to fail the atmosphere in such a location with such a plot, and this film was no exception. Because the atmosphere is very good, it is definitely a plus.
Soundtrack: The musical accompaniment of the film is also very good. Here a great role is played by the sounds of running water, creaks and crunches of cars, the sounds of drops and so on. All this together also greatly affects the atmosphere of the film, and since the musical accompaniment, if the genre of the film is not a musical, always plays a secondary role or supplementary, then this criterion is made very well here, since the atmosphere of the film complements perfectly.
Thus, the drama with elements of the thriller “Metro” in general pleased me. This is an interesting film that deserves attention. But there is one point, it will be very difficult to compete with foreign films, the film is very good for the Russian market, but, unfortunately, in the world, it will be the most average representative of its genre. The problem lies in the genre, if there is a genre of drama in the description, then you must make sure that the characters are written from “A” to “I”, so that there are as few clichéd heroes as possible who fit all stereotypes under one or another type of person. Here, unfortunately, apart from the good acting of the actors themselves, there is nothing special, and for drama this is very little, since the main criterion of drama is precisely this. In general, Metro is the most average film, nothing special, but nothing interesting. It’s still worth watching, because the movie is not bad, I repeat. I hope my review was helpful. Thank you very much.
Spectacular, realistic, but the masterpiece of the film-catastrophe is not yet
Russian cinema rarely releases disaster films, I try not to miss them, in the hope that one day we will be able to give something bright and memorable. The film “Metro”, released in 2013, partially coped with this task – at least, it turned out to be memorable. And against the background of the recent flooding of the Moscow metro after a heavy rainfall, it is also very relevant. The main advantage of the picture, in my opinion, is its frightening realism. It is, of course, not that in 10 minutes the whole of Moscow could go under water and not in how effectively the train beat against the walls of the tunnel, like a Japanese train flying at breakneck speed, but in how correctly the Russian negligence and helplessness of the authorities is shown (how such a film was censored?).
Even 2 unfortunate police officers who do not know how to stop panic on the escalator are also very lifelike. As well as working one escalator, when several more just stand. Ignoring the concern of a specialist checking the condition of the tunnels; 3 (!!) an employee of the Ministry of Emergency Situations to save the mass of the wounded; cynical journalists; clogged roads on which an ambulance cannot pass - all this is our life. And it is frightening that everything is happening. I don’t know if such a flood in our subway is technically possible, but the scale is shown very well. On a grandiose movie-disaster, of course, will not pull, but in places really became not on its own, the same water-driven car looked quite spectacular and scary. There were a lot of questions about liquid nitrogen and the ability of those frail doors to contain the frantic pressure of the water - well, that's okay, let's omit.
Now about the minuses - this is certainly the heroes of the film and weak acting. The characters are specifically annoying, at first only a few, and by the end of the film almost all. I'll look at everyone.
Husband. At first, you sympathize with him and his kindness, but gradually you realize that he is just a mattress, you can’t say otherwise. To some extent, it becomes clear why his wife is so eager to compensate for the total lack of masculinity of his spouse by someone else (I do not encourage her behavior, but the motivation is clear). The husband is constantly dull, he is not able to raise his own daughter, growing unable to respect parents and elders in general, behaves stupidly throughout most of the film (it was absolutely not surprising to me that the child was taken out of the water by a lover, not a slow father, because unlike everyone else he does not seek salvation at all, despite the responsibility for his daughter - look at the lover, driven by anger at a broken deal - he has more desire to get out than a father with a helpless child in his arms! I do not sympathize with my lover, but even he looks better in this situation. The husband constantly demonstrates his weakness - quiet anger at the lover, a pipe clutched in his hands and a stupid attempt to deal with him look like a demonstration of absolute helplessness, he admits that otherwise he will not emerge victorious from the love triangle. He doesn’t even realize that they all need a physically strong and determined man to save them. And his stupid attempt to snatch his hand out of his wife's hand is ridiculous, like, I'm so harsh now. Terrible.
Wife. Showed by a stupid, irresponsible and hysterical woman - she does not see the anger and cynicism of the lover behind his strong character, indifferent in general to the fate of the child (until it is said) - because she also does not exert strength to his upbringing, judging by the fact that Mowgli grows out of her daughter.
Lover. Typical scumbag, type quite simple and worn. Angry, cruel, unceremonious, clearly made a career, walking on heads and setting up set-ups. The image is collective, but the stereotype that you can achieve much in life only in this way is already tired, it completely discourages the desire to make a career and break out into people, which indicates a fundamentally wrong message to the audience. It turns out to be a silly contrast - a rich, purposeful businessman is just a devil in the flesh, and a heroic character - Denis - publicly declares that he works as a waiter and was kicked out of the institute. It turns out that the lack of education is encouraged, and the desire to be successful is equated with dirt. The message is wrong, because the view of the situation is very one-sided. Returning to the lover, it would be more interesting to see that in a critical situation, he has a reassessment of values, rather than what was shown. Oh, come on, he's a good bastard.
Baby. A character that absolutely pisses off the whole movie. This girl needs to be given a good belt, which she would be if her wife went to her lover. I have never seen such rudeness, lack of manners and disrespect for elders, it is just amazing what a monster will grow out of her in the future. Even the scene of the meeting with my mother did not cause warmth, although I should have - after everything that was shown, I did not believe that she was happy with her mother, I was waiting for her to soak something and her mother after the hug.
Denise and Alina. The only bright spot in this dark realm. A guy who behaves like a real hero, a girl who is ready to save his life is very well shown how bright qualities multiply in an extreme situation. The girl lacked acting skills, but overall it was nice to see their heroes.
Fat guy. The character is very cute, and attracts more sympathy than the husband, although they have similarities. He is certainly kind, caring, responsive, loves his family, quite infantile, but does not cause any negativity. Even he has more courage than his husband. And judging by the photos of his family, it's full of idylls, normal kids and family love. They correctly showed that one should not identify kindness and weakness, malice and strength of character - I liked this move. It is a pity that he ultimately has such a fate, although they also showed vitality - good people suffer more than others and have the most tragic fates, which cannot be said about scoundrels.
I didn’t really understand the role of the alcoholic character, she fit in there with difficulty, and what they wanted to say with her presence remained a mystery to me.

For realism and entertainment, Denis and Alina and some moral aspects.
Catastrophe films are usually not a very simple genre, and one of the most expensive. There you not only need to be able to play on the feelings of the viewer, but also be able to impress him. And if in Hollywood such films are released often enough (though not recently), for our latitudes - this is a rare guest.
' Metro' bought another teaser, and after the trailer. It looked very colorful, with a sweep, how it all had to be checked out firsthand. I was lucky to see it in the cinema.
The plot is down to earth, there are no meteorites from space that destroy humanity like dinosaurs, there is no suddenly formed volcano, especially where it can not be, and it is not a sharp flood with sharp frosts. The picture reflected a very real situation, at one of the stations there was a crack through which there was a breakthrough of groundwater. And hello to closed spaces, cold and dark. The film definitely focused on these elements. Also, he does not stop at a single character, the tape tells several stories at once, in which each hero will show himself from different sides.
You can immediately see that the film had several screenwriters, the layer of work is quite large, it was required to prescribe not only the characters of the characters and their dialogues, not to mention the plot, it was also necessary to indicate the background of each, and manage to weave them together militarily, and most importantly, everything worked.
The composition of actors is worthy, the lyceums knowing their business skillfully acted out the drama and contributed to the heat of emotions where it was needed. Of all the brightest role was played by Sergey Puskepalis, his character caused the most empathy. The rest generally did not disturb the atmosphere. Here's the only one who didn't like it - it's Ivan Makarevich, although this film is no exception, Ivan is everywhere a real log, where you need emotions, he either falls short or applies the wrong emotion, thanks to his play, the character of Ivan is not remembered at all.
In disaster movies, first of all, what do they come for? That’s right, they go there first for the spectacle. But with this, the film is literally on ' Five plus' done. The special effects are juicy, the scenery is verified, from some scenes frankly throws goosebumps, so technically they are put. The crash scene is exemplary even for Hollywood. The operator always tries to find a good angle. Technical composition 'Metro' clearly your bread is not just eaten and show a really global level of study.
About the title theme from the bi-2 I mocked, too beautiful song and perfect lay on the credits.
What happens in the dry residue? The Russians have proved that they can make good disaster films, where there is a place for experiences, beautiful special effects, pleasant acting and unexpected plot twists. From the film at one time received many pleasant impressions and was not disappointed after reviewing it with friends.
The liberal opposition has messed up the capital authorities by drilling a hole in the bottom of the Moscow River. The fetid radiation water with glowing two-headed carp floating in it gradually leaked deep into the lithosphere and eventually broke through the walls of the Moscow metro near the Tushinskaya station. In the train, which at that moment was passing here and immediately drowned, by coincidence there were a deceived husband played by Sergei Puskepalis and his longtime friend, who, in fact, gave him horns. Well, with them a bunch of extras, spoiled Muscovites - office workers, hipsters and other metrosexuals.
The dramatic situation should, in theory, unite the main characters, but the fight for the female is such a thing that mortal danger compared to her is just ridiculous nonsense. Therefore, instead of looking for ways out of the sinking tunnel into the water, Puskepalis and his competitor exchange barbs and crush each other with steel eyes.
The screenwriter rudely but effectively plays on the strings of our souls: in addition to the unjustly deceived, strictly positive husband, there is a miniature dog, over which everyone is not lazy (including thrown on the tracks, which are under tension over 1500 thousand megavolts), as well as a girl suffering from asthma and during the film about ten times dramatically losing her anti-asthma prick.
The finale of the film is open - it is not clear who will stay with Khodchenkova, the fate of the dog and the future of the girl with a pshikalka are unclear. However, certain conclusions regarding the moral appearance of modern men and the strength of the infrastructure of the Moscow metro, the viewer, of course, should make.
The Metro is the first notable disaster film. Although slightly exaggerated by its plot. But who knows what might happen in life. We all use transportation. After a while, there was a real disaster in the Moscow metro, where people died. But no one even knew about it, everyone just lived their day, but the hour came when time stopped for 24 people.
As for the special effects, they are great! Stunning computer graphics that makes you immerse yourself in the film with your head.
Laps, alas, but I will not talk about them, because while watching them you will not even notice, such a dramatic film.
Actors' play: top class! There's real life on the screen. The duet role of the main characters is simply amazing. Sergey Puskepalis, Anatoly Bely - well done. Svetlana Khodchenkova added passion and drama to every scene. Excellent work.
And of course, the music for the film is perfect, it is life itself. Watch this blockbuster, I advise everyone. It's worth it. The budget of the film is worth it.
But remember, the life of any person is a thread that has been lit since your birth, a fragile thin thread that can break at any moment. Live now, love now, be closer to each other now, because in a second they may announce: “Be careful, the doors are already closed.” Take care of yourself
Here is another example of high-class Russian cinema of world level. Under the standard school system, I would give the tape a hard five without a plus, which is equivalent to about 80-90 university points. Since there is still hope in me that Russian cinema will sooner or later come out of the deep pit of failure even after Viking, for worthy films I slightly overestimate for efforts. Yes, I have seen more spectacular and exciting Hollywood films in the genre of disaster / thriller, but such masterpieces are only one.
I consider the merit of the creators that the acclaimed “Metro” was shot without attempts to copy American films and without the tired stamps of “Dream Factory”. Here the stylistics corresponds to modern Russian cinema. The storyline is built correctly, the production is without blunders, the actors do not slouch and do not overdo it, computer graphics and special effects are devoid of flaws. In the end, we are waiting for the notorious happy ending with the restoration of a broken family. And, what happens very rarely, after viewing on the soul there is some lightness and harmony. In truth, the film was worth cutting down on 10-15 minutes without touching on anything important. It also lacked a few more tragic and cunning directorial twists typical of Western films.
Why not the ten? Yes, because, I repeat, only a few great and brilliantly made films, watching which can make you think about life, are awarded such an honor. Also, I can't understand people who find fault with some improbability. The cars are not moving properly, then something else is not satisfied. It's a movie, a movie magic, a fairy tale like any other movie. And there is almost nothing in common with Metro with Daylight with Stallone! I have a very positive attitude towards the last picture (it deserves a “dozens”), but our film differs in almost everything and is not an imitation. In general, do not believe the ridiculous comments of haters who have not even seen the film.

Like, empty in the soul without mirages, without magic.
Today I am writing a review of the Metro and the first thing I want to note is that the review will still be positive.
The product of Russian cinema is very often disappointing, except for military and historical films, where our filming is right. When you learn that a disaster film was made in Russia, you will agree that it is not customary, to some extent, and I am not surprised that people went to the movies with a sense of distrust. I couldn’t watch this movie in the cinema, but I heard a lot of reviews a la “fitness”, “our finally made something worthwhile”, “fun film”. Five years later, I was able to see my hands. What is it about this movie that I want to mention?
First of all, yes, the atmosphere. Russian mentality can only be conveyed by a Russian director. Despite the fact that the film is kind of about the crash of the train in the subway, in the center lies, beloved by Russian directors, a family conflict. A love triangle, familiar mundane images, a surgeon who is stuck in work, a tired wife, a man with money (necessarily rejecting an image, otherwise not a canon) - everything is stable here, as in all Russian melodramas. You won’t see that in American blockbusters. Not too much action, although in two hours, I would like more moments. A lot of chatter - well, Rushn production sho.
Do you know what's beautiful about this movie? He's holding it for two hours. However, the film is truly scary. And not in the sense that it's some kind of horror, no. He is frightened by the fact that he plays the life situation in all his “bliss”. What do I mean? The mockery of the examiner Sergeich (namely, he was the first to notice what was wrong), they say that from a hangover there is no idea what is dreaming, led to the death of hundreds of people. I don't think anyone would actually run to check the mine after some local drinker said it? And that’s really scary.
How easily writers and directors played with our nerves. The heartbreaking pictures may not have brought me to tears, but they were so shocking that I had to pause for certain moments to catch my breath. Sometimes I wanted the scene to end because it was so painful to watch.
I will not talk much about the actors, because everyone was in their seats, it was nice to watch their acting performance, except for Khodchenkova, who seemed superfluous to me at this holiday. The actress was not convinced that she was a suffering mother and wife, who all loved ones were in a flooded tunnel, which is about to be filled with liquid nitrogen. Well, I don't believe it.
A film about people, not a disaster. About those who did not fall, even being with the enemy in the same boat, about those who found each other, in a terrible struggle for their lives and about those who, getting out, realized that a stack of vodka is not the main thing. And most importantly, a film about those who did not give up, believed in themselves and can be a little miracle.
Green review, give me eight.
About the movie “Metro” I learned by accident, just the song “Prayer” at the end of the film belongs to my favorite band “B-2”. And, as it turned out, I spent two hours not in vain.
It was scary to watch a disaster movie because I am an impressionable person. But in the Metro there are very few shots of corpses and horrors. Human stories come to the fore, simple and close to life. Ghost station, bunker, water with the smell of mud ... Everything does not add up to a single puzzle at once, but over time everything incomprehensible becomes clearer.
To the merits of the film immediately include soundtrack. In addition to the “Prayer” I mentioned, the rest of the tracks are perfectly laid on the video. They well emphasize the dramatic line and enhance the impression of the film. Another important plus (at least for me) is the literate distribution of time. Although the film runs for more than two hours, the action does not sag anywhere, I do not want to squander some of the scenes. The accident happens within 24 minutes! "Metro" keeps in suspense for all two hours. The third virtue is acter game. Especially remembered Sergey Puskepalis, Stanislav Duzhnikov and Svetlana Khodchenkova. You really believe them. In addition, the film pleased with the quality of computer graphics. Yes, not Hollywood, but the drawing of water flows and the scene of the disaster is in principle worthy of respect. Well, the line with Alice and Denis is quite cute, and the dog Tyavka is above all praise. In general, the most striking scenes are probably the disaster itself, Mikhail’s attempt to escape the impending composition, Denis’ search for an inhaler for Alice, Irina’s experiences about the fate of her daughter, husband and lover.
Flaws are harder. There was nothing really bad in the film. I will only note that, of course, in reality the accident would have happened differently. But it's not a documentary either. I was interested in the plot component, not the accuracy of the details, so for me this drawback is not so terrible.
In general, the film is really good, oddly enough, even instilling hope for the best. I recommend that you do not waste your time.
One of the best Russian films of the last decade. The movie-disaster is in principle a genre quite expensive and difficult to perform, and the creators of “Metro” almost everything managed to five.
Anyone who has ever been to Moscow and the Moscow metro will immediately recognize them. Everything here is very natural and real, without excessive gloss and pathos.
The scenes in the subway after the disaster are strong, piercing and dramatic. And this is the merit of both the film crew and the actors. Frankly weak roles in this film I personally did not notice.
A little cardboard on the general background looks a love triangle, not weakly spoiled by Khodchenkova, who most of her screen time is too dramatic and beautiful running. But this is such a small spoon of tar in a common barrel of honey that it cannot spoil the film as a whole.
Antagonists Sergey Puskepalis and Anatoly Bely were chosen simply as perfect as possible, even within the framework of the notorious love story, which, albeit superfluous here, but let it be. A good husband and a rough alpha male with a perfect torso - what could be more natural in our realities?
The young actors also did not pump up - a touching couple of Bardukov and Spitz evokes empathy throughout the film.
And although in general “Metro” is not without flaws and irregularities, both in terms of script, editing and special effects, but in general the level is so high that we can only hope that this is not the last time such a bright, memorable and high-quality Russian film product comes out on our screens.
One thing pleases: a song from Bi-2 — Prayer, or And who likes if a smelly sock is so and remains a smelly sock?
I like Russian mainstream cinema. It's true. It goes its way to high standards and justified expectations of the audience. Of course, Trinidad and Tobago wasn't built right away either. Therefore, not all the offspring of many more or less noticeable Russian producers and directors are often “shot out”. For example, still under a great impression of "Legends N17" and "Crew" Nikolai Lebedev. But "Metro" Anton Megerdichev caused noticeable disappointment. I'll start explaining.
The story is clear even by accident or by mistake to the wrong audience. A clear disaster film with all the necessary attributes: an enclosed space, a complex obstacle in the form of a huge volume of water, a group of people with a single goal to survive and escape. There's a rumble, a noise, a grunt of metal. So look, the idea and the space for its implementation is the right thing for a modern Russian blockbuster. And the filmmakers did it! Unfortunately, more or less tolerable only in terms of entertainment.
Despite the obvious computer component, the scene with the emergency braking of the train and the subsequent collision of cars turned out to be spectacular and scary. Very much to the place came slow-mo, when in the cars there was a real mess because of the flying back and forth of human bodies. This insidious pause demonstrated all the despair and helplessness of the passengers. Personally, I felt sincere compassion for the residents of Moscow, who so unsuccessfully filled an already close “trap”. I felt a high charge of tension when people running through the water tried to get out of the dungeon, but could not know about the terrible “capcan” around them. In general, for the whole film, I showed more sympathy to the extras of the handful who survived than to the so-called main characters of the picture.
The heroes of Sergei Puskepalis, Andrei Bely, Svetlana Khodchenkova, who were supposed to “conduct the orchestra”, manifested themselves in a continuous non-obscene form. Each time I wondered how a silent surgeon could tolerate his wife’s upstart lover. Watching the behavior of both men, the idea sneaked in that their common woman did not understand the opposite sex at all. I have nothing wrong with Sergei Puskepalis, but his allegedly malicious facial expressions were seen as more offended. There was an offended man walking around, and he endured a complete asshole. It would be much more interesting to turn their conflict into another plane, as the realization of mutual friendship or common responsibility for saving drowning people in an extreme situation. And somehow come to a conclusion about why the three of them came to this. But at the end, everyone diverges in their own corner, and the question arises: “Is this the whole drama?” Next to them was a young couple, who clearly saw a terrible family tragedy.
The love triangle is a love triangle at the end. The fact that in the end the heroine Svetlana Khodchenkova made her choice, certainly did not mean a magical transformation of the geometric figure. That choice could change at any moment. The crash in the subway did not help adults much, having passed through the whole film in the background. It all started out well... So the balm on the soul came a chic song of the group Bi-2 - "Prayer". I wanted to listen to it for a long time that the song stretched as much as the end of the credits. You did the right thing. If the story of pleasure could not get (and who likes, if the smelly sock and remained a smelly sock?), then at least from the wonderful sound of the composition should not refuse.
5 out of 10
Russian cinema, of course, is in crisis. Only. Sometimes there are “oases” which at one time were “Admiral”, “We are from the Future”, “Brest Fortress” and here is another such “oasis” was the film “Metro”.
When I first heard his story, I didn’t believe it would be difficult to walk to the nearest station in a flooded subway. But watching the movie itself was a pleasure. The film is good, the only drawback that I noticed is a bad soundtrack at the moment when the disaster begins and people in slow-mo fall into the water, there was just such bad music that involuntarily the laugh slipped.
But otherwise, the movie is good. I didn’t notice any “Hollywoodism” like a long “NO” or pathos before I died. The action and the disaster were well done, and I was really worried about the heroes, especially when the whole mine was filled with water and especially when the whole river flooded into the tunnel.
To "Hollywood" can only be attributed this love triangle and the fact that its participants met in the subway, but on the other hand, infidelity is not uncommon for our cinema. And I also liked the characters themselves, none of them infuriated, by the way, unlike American disaster films, where there will be some dude who will piss everyone off with his inadequacy. In the main characters there is determination, charisma, perseverance. The hero of Duzhninkov, even if not to treat them, hysterics a lot, but I must say it looked realistic in principle: nervous, panicking, but retains the fortitude of the spirit, feeds everyone sandwiches.
I especially liked the atmosphere of the film. About how the media work, what the Emergencies Ministry, rescuers do. Thanks to this, the tension in the film really was and watching it is fascinating.
In general, the film “Metro” I consider one of the bright breakthroughs of domestic cinema. And the fact that it was even shown in France, in Europe, proves that the film was a success. It is only a pity that the production of such films as "Metro" can not be put on the conveyor and released more than once every few years.

If you take offhand, then among the harsh films-catastrophes, the film “Crew” of the 1979 release immediately comes to mind, that is, it was released back in Soviet times under the direction of Alexander Mitta, and in an instant it became a cult picture. Then came a new milestone in the history of our citizens, a huge country fell apart, tried to move away from post-perestroika times, cinema was also in decline. Now everyone says that the current Russian cinema has not come close to the level of Soviet cinema and they are partly right. But by now, the viewer was able to watch a really high-quality film in the combined genre of drama and disaster - "Metro".
It was shot on the book of Krasnoyarsk writer Dmitry Safonov, for whom, so far, “Metro” remains the only full-length film based on his work, and so there are two series in the zazashnika, but we know that soap operas now shoot everything and everywhere, as they are shot in everything and everywhere. In his book, Safonov described how several people, ironically together, are trying to get out of the trap of groundwater inside a subway tunnel. Among them are people who were brought together quite unexpectedly, for example, two rivals - a legitimate husband and a lover of his wife. Safonov made an attempt not only to play out the catastrophe, but also to interest the viewer with the psychological background, the atmosphere of not only disaster, but also enmity, which gives rise to a much more thorough acquaintance with the heroes of the novel.
Because of psychology and because of the open expression of drama, the Metro resembles the same Mitta Crew. However, in this part, the picture of the Soviet master still looks deeper and brighter, for which we can also praise our favorite actors. But this does not mean that Metro is a bad movie, not at all! Cinema is excellent and this on the screens from our domestic manufacturer gets very rarely, so each tape of this level is valued for its weight in gold. Only our viewer likes to scold his own and his family more than to praise him. The film is technically brilliant, as far as the equipment and experience outside the Hollywood categories allows. A lively and dynamic picture, an atmosphere of horror and panic - all this is preserved thanks to spectacular visual scenes (by the way, the actors, when they worked in them, felt all the difficulties of their work, so I recommend you to familiarize yourself with the history of the creation of Metro, in order to imbue yourself with respect for the performers who played in the film). And the elements that destroy people are inside, and outside a exhausted woman who can lose everyone at a time. Against her background, the whole drama of the state of people who are horrified to realize that their loved ones may never return.
The film gathered a large number of famous and recognizable actors. Firstly, the name of Svetlana Khodchenkova is striking, which is clearly the prima of domestic cinema recently, and moreover, it is becoming very popular abroad, including in Hollywood and it is pleasant. It is she who plays the drama of a woman who is beside herself from a possible disaster. She blames herself for what happened, but it's more of a superstitious decision. In general, Hodchenkova emphasizes her level, the game is strong, memorable, disruptive even. Only one “but”: I would not like Khodchenkova to become a repeater of the deeds of the glorious Elizaveta Boyarskaya, from whom the viewer is obviously tired. But Khodchenkova is not the first in the acting list in the credits for the film, but Sergey Puskepalis is the first. Owner, for a moment, of the Golden Bear at the Berlin Fest. But not for this role. Sergei Puskepalis seemed to play his role well, but somewhere he was not so expressive, too withdrawn, which makes it unclear why he can get his wife back. But that's one branch of his character, and the other, when he becomes the savior of a handful of people, was pretty decent and confident. Anatoly Bely did not go beyond his role as a somewhat cynical egoist, but just such a character was needed for the film, and White confidently coped with him. And all the other actors showed a decent game for such a hard-to-film genre as disaster.
“Metro” is probably the best disaster film made since the collapse of the Soviet Union. Do not turn your nose, saying that if they removed ours, it is obviously a slip, because this is not so. High-quality film with excellent visual effects and psychological background. It looks like one breath!

P.S.: How happy it was that the cute dog was saved!
P.P.S. In 2016, the film “The Crew” (not a remake of the film by Alexander Mitta!) was announced in the same genre as “Metro” with Danila Kozlovsky and Vladimir Mashkov in the lead roles. We are waiting for a repeat (or better) of the success of Metro!
Every day 42 minutes underground, back and forth, here and there.
It was simply impossible not to go to this film for me, since I spend 3 hours a day on the subway, and I do not often see films about the metropolitan subway (I do not even remember any). However, there were still concerns, given the exorbitant number of domestic film thrash. Fortunately, these fears are not confirmed.
And the recipe for success turned out to be very simple: take Moscow during rush hour, plunge it into a transport collapse and add a man-made disaster of an urban scale. Thousands of people standing in traffic jams all over the city plus hundreds of thousands storming crowded old subway cars (who lives in Moscow knows what hell this is). How the emergency braking of the crowded train in the tunnel and the panic of people at the stations of the ring line are shown, we can safely enter in the + and the film and the director. It seems that if this really happened, it would have happened. Everything is very realistic and harsh (if not cruel). The inability of the authorities to act in a critical situation, the lack of information, ubiquitous reporters, crowds of bloodied and frightened people pour out of the subway and so on. Drama is felt in everything.
But that's not what the movie is about. This movie is about people. Different people with different fates, stories, problems, who, by the will of fate, find themselves in the same car of the ill-fated train. Only in such situations does the true character of a person, leadership qualities, self-sacrifice appear. Or, conversely, cowardice, weakness and recklessness. All this is shown very frankly, the acting is simply magnificent.
Now for secondary. Something similar, of course, we have already seen in the same Daylight with Sylvester Stallone in the role of a rescuer, but it was about the American tunnel, and here we have our, domestic! To be honest, we did better.
In the end, Suddenly a very strong and realistic film. This is an almost perfect setting of a catastrophe of a capital scale.
Reading the description, I expected to see a film about a real hero. I thought that Garin was a man with a steely character, who, in a difficult moment, even in his wife’s lover, saw not a rival, but a person who needed help. I thought it was a story about a man whose happy life was broken by the treacherous fate of fate.
I'll start with tar. The main character of the film is a rag. Weak character, mummy, completely unfit for life. Personally, it is very difficult for me to empathize with a person who, being a wonderful surgeon, works in a state clinic and having the opportunity to become a surgeon in the best clinics in Moscow, does not want to do this because... just! Someone might say, “He just wants to help people.” Let your family help you first! And everyone around him thinks he's nobody! Starting with the neighbor who blocked his way in a car, ending with his own daughter! What happy life is he fighting for in the film? And he's not fighting for her! For the most part, he sits passively and waits. His wife is a typical corrupt girl who blames him for being weak on the front lines. Yes, her lover is successful, handsome, tenacious in life, offers her to legalize the relationship. And she loves her husband and sleeps with another, because she hates her husband, but loves her lover, while she does not want to divorce her husband because she loves him. Understand as you wish. The only person I really care about is the child.
The second spoonful of tar is an acting game. It's all very well together! But it felt like they just got tired sometimes and stopped playing, but after a little rest they started playing really well.
The third is adventure. They found the door to the Metro 2 bunker. It would seem that now the most interesting will begin! They will penetrate inside and everything will be saturated with an unforgettable atmosphere of secret bunkers abandoned since the Soviet Union! But no! We've been knocked out. The door didn't open. Why was this scene necessary? Because it's easy!
Well, the third is a lot of movie blunders, which are visible from the first viewing. Although in fairness, the film they do not make worse.
And now a barrel of honey!
There are a lot of advantages in the film - this is camera work, lighting, very high-quality computer graphics, excellent soundtracks. Probably the best extra game ever! Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the film is not for a tick. They really save lives. The crowd of relatives of the victims and just onlookers are very vitally shown, except for the guy who says on camera “I am alive.” That's stupid. But it’s a little thing you can ignore.
Verdict: In my opinion, the film is good. Of course, I have no desire to review it again, but in general, this film was not positioned as a high-budget epic film with a lot of special effects and deep meaning. The film is made for those who just want to spend a couple of hours in front of a popcorn screen and he has completed his task.

Over the past ten years, I have noticed a trend in domestic cinema in its revival. And I like that Russian filmmakers do all this gradually, and not jerks, which the public simply will not accept. Now our cinema is becoming a pioneer in individual genres, including disaster films, which our cinema does not have the opportunity to boast so often. However, the appearance on the screens of the action drama “Metro” changed all my ideas.
Synopsis Due to the widespread development in the center of Moscow in one of the subway tunnels there is a crack, which penetrates the waters from the Moscow river. Soon, the water bursts through the crack and floods the tunnel, resulting in hundreds of train passengers trapped underground. Among them is the doctor of the city hospital Andrei Garin and his daughter Ksyusha, the lover of his wife Andrei Vlad and several other people who are fighting for survival.
Game of actors It was pleasant to see that Metro has gathered a real star cast of Russian cinema, including such major actors as Anatoly Bely, Sergey Puskepalis, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Alexei Bardukov, Katerina Spitsa, Elena Panova and Stanislav Duzhnikov. Of all the images embodied by the actors, the greatest impression was made by Alexei Bardukov, Elena Panova and Stanislav Duzhnikov. Bardukov played the role of a young waiter Denis, who falls in love at first sight with a girl named Alice, and despite the disaster, he remains true to himself and his feelings and tries to save Alice with all his might. Also made a strong impression Elena Panova, who played the role of the mysterious Talachka, which in the world occupies a clearly inferior position, but this does not prevent you from fighting for survival and at the same time helping others. Finally, Stanislav Duzhnikov tried on the image of the courier Mikhail, who in appearance may seem nude, but still does everything possible to overcome his fear.
Directorship To be honest, after the not-so-successful "Dark World" I was rather skeptical about the upcoming work of director Anton Megerdichev. However, after watching Metro, I was pleasantly surprised by the evolution in the director’s method of work, since, unlike Dark World, Megerdichev does not swing from genre to genre, thereby preserving the overall tense atmosphere of the film, designed in the style of classic disaster films, where you can expect anything. Especially impressed was the scene with the accident, which was unexpected and at the same time looked realistic and impressive.
Scenario To be honest, I did not get to read the novel by Dmitry Safonov, although after watching the film I had such a desire, but I am more than sure that the success of the film was due to the organized work of the writers. Personally, the plot of the film did not cause any complaints or complaints, since it is built logically, without any twists. The plot itself touches on topics such as marital fidelity, which was manifested in the storyline dedicated to a love triangle, as well as first love and, of course, the survival instinct.
Operators Sergey Astafkhov and Sergey Schultz did an excellent job, for which they then received worthy regalia. The fact is that their shooting technique allowed you to see the whole situation captured in the film in all its glory due to the fact that the film practically did not have the effect of a shaking camera and the effect was used when the camera literally circled some object or floated over it. So, for example, I liked the scenes in which the camera recorded in flight a panicking crowd rushing to the exit, thereby conveying the chaos that reigned in the episode.
Special effects This may sound strange, but I would like to mention the computer and other special effects in the film. At first glance, it would seem that our cinema will only copy the West in the field of visual technology. However, I am not afraid to say that our cinematography has proved that it is no worse, and somewhere even superior. The scene of the train crash was very realistic. And the subsequent episodes with the flow of water, the impending car and so on, and so on, made an extremely strong impression, for which the specialists in this field involved in the production of this picture, a special thank you.
Result In conclusion, I could only add that Metro is a really good movie, and that it is not worth it to be reprehensible. Therefore, I recommend to include this movie in the list of upcoming views.
Russians can make good movies, but this is not one of them. The film is a disaster of Russian production.
The film tells about the disaster in the subway. The water flooded the tunnel, the train at full speed was obliged to stop because of the incoming water, people formed in the cars due to sharp braking, and after a complete stop began to get out. As a result, there were a few heroes who tried to get out before the end of the film. Throughout the film stretches a love line - a triangle between a married woman, her husband a surgeon and his wealthy classmate.
There is nothing to celebrate in this film, it is one big failure. The actors are so played that you want to shake everyone up and put them in such a real situation that they would understand how to play. Only 5 subway workers look funny, in a huge subway web. After the disaster - only 3 members of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, who went to look for survivors in the tunnel, apparently there are only 3 of them in a multi-million city. There are no crowds near the subway, and only one TV channel came to observe this tragedy. The only thing left is that they will beautifully show the disaster itself. But there was a failure - the painted pictures began to flash on the screen, and the whole situation was so stretched that I wanted to go out to make myself a tea while they all spread out on the cars.
After watching this movie, I realized I wasted time. You don’t have to watch, there are a lot of better movies.
After watching the movie “Metro”, the first thing I went to look at the director’s reputation on the Internet. It turned out that Anton Megerdichev had already managed to shoot the first Russian film in 3D "The Dark World" - I could watch it only halfway and "Fight with Shadow 2: Rematch", which I watched to the end, because I wanted to continue. What is connected with the fact that his third directorial attempt was successful, I honestly do not know. Perhaps easy incomes from three-dimensional cinema, finally allowed a person to break into the realization of the long-held dream of reviving domestic cinema. Perhaps this film is a mere coincidence - an exception to the rules by which it is customary to play in our cinematic mass market.
Anyway, the movie was a success. And it's not even a compliment -- it's a fact: hopeful and depressing at the same time. It is always pleasant to see the first swallow in the spring (even if spring is late). But also depressing because back in 1996 (and this was citizens almost 20 years ago) in America close to my heart was filmed “Daylight”. I watched it right away, just to avoid being unfounded. You know the Metro no worse, it sags somewhere - and about this below, but on the local color and spirituality drew. At the same time, the temporal gap is inexorable, and ours is in common, what a sin to hide, lagging behind the advanced, what a trifle, states (and we position ourselves this way) is apparently inevitable forever.
The special effects and scale of the shooting in Daylight are better, the script is more interesting. Cinema and stamps are equally present what they have, what we have in the Metro. The hero of the second plan - an African-American dies in the middle of their film and, in response to this, we have a fattened, but charming courier dies, as if there are not enough charming persons of North Caucasian nationality in the metro.
They have a happy ending, and we, kind of. True, the hero Stallone justifiably blew everything up and, with the help of the laws of physics, saved himself and his girlfriend by misfortune. We have everything with God’s help – believe that you were saved, and how – this one writer knows. But they do not have spirituality and dramaturgy - everything is alien (though desirable).
Again, family values are almost in the main idea of the film - the Film Fund!!! What a Massqua!!! You, dear Muscovites, have ever seen such a capital, probably in 1962, when we still had the friendship of peoples. In the subway car - pure as a tram, and the titular nation smiles at each other in the morning early. It remains Mayakovsky to start reading aloud - what the young tour guide apparently would do, hoping to attract the attention of a girl with asthma, if not for emergency braking. And how he dived behind the inhaler - what an effect of surprise. Emerych, take note! And a pocket dog, too! Then you use it in your movies!
From the music pleased Bi-2 - there is still gunpowder And literally killed the soundtrack during the crash in the tunnel - the soundman mixed up the discs, otherwise you can not tell.
But this is all, in general, the lyrics - against the background of film distribution and domestic - is a wonderful film. I rarely recommend Russian films to my mother. This one advised, and I think she should like it, that the film is really soulful and Russian-quality. German quality among Germans like Roland Emerich is sought only by moral dissidents like me.
If a person travels in the subway, it means that he is poor, Muscovites believe. In addition, as you know, the underground mode of transport is the most dangerous. People take the subway because it is as fast as possible and without traffic jams. And this is an advantage even over those who drive cars, because they have, albeit in expensive cars, but stand for several hours with trolleybuses. But people forget about the dangers of underground travel. The most impressionable viewers, I think, after a movie like this, will prefer to stand in traffic every day. After all, Russian filmmakers have proved that not only Americans are able to shoot spectacular large-scale disaster films with expensive special effects - and from possible options chose the topic of danger threatening the Moscow metro. The idea is simple - the waters of the Moscow River flooded into the metro tunnels, which no one suspected, and the disaster happened right during the movement of cars. It will be difficult to rescue those who are in this terrible situation.
To make the movie look as interesting as possible, it is necessary to come up with a storyline in the center of which several people close to each other, one of whom is underground, and one person will try to do everything possible to save relatives. So, Svetlana Khodchenkova will be on top - she did not have to star in the gloomy scenery of the dungeon, she will be shown in all her glory on the streets of Moscow. Of all the actors who starred in Metro, I know only her, as well as Alexei Gavrilov, who is catastrophically unlucky for roles in a big movie. Apparently, the role of Goshi in “Univer” was not enough for the young actor to be invited to star in the main roles in theatrical films. And he had to play the tiny role of a marauder, robbing those who were not at all lucky in a subway crash. Ex-Lovelas from the sitcom appeared in the frame for just a minute.
The budget of $ 9 million was enough for the naturalistic scenery and impressive special effects, however, the film is clearly inferior to American disaster films like "The Day After Tomorrow". Nevertheless, “Metro” is a confident step forward in Russian cinema, the film deserved its high rating, it lacks only the maximum entertainment (no matter how twist, visual effects still lacked, although those that were very impressive), and the plot could be more active. Overall, the movie worked. It remains only to add that God forbid such events in real life.

What is usually included in the movie “Catastrophe”?
Usually this is the disaster, it should be clinging, or its scale, or the power of the drama, or the enormity of what is happening, and of course it is important to correctly present all this.
In fact, such a task in the film “Metro” was accomplished, because the subway is what you use in Moscow every day, and the flow of people is simply colossal, and such dramatic events are reflected on a rather large scale and what atmosphere the film has. But closer to the climax of those associated with our heroes, the film slides into nonsense and idiocy.
It's even a shame to paint, there's not a stage is nonsense, there's no need to even be an expert in the field of the subway, there's enough logic. Their very salvation is a gift of God, nor can it be explained otherwise.
In fact, enough and the beginning of the film to understand a piece of what we will watch. When Grandpa walks through the tunnel and sees a crack in the wall of the tunnel from which to ooze water, he does not say to the dispatchers “there is a crack in the wall of the tunnel”, briefly and clearly, no, no, no, no, no. He says, "There's strange water..." ... just realize the stupidity of this ... here even if he's drunk or under drugs is no excuse, there's ... there's no words. And since when for dispatchers or metro service worker the mystery that in this area from above passes the river, like not a secret. So just compare the facts in your head: a crack in the wall of the tunnel and a river flows from above, and what will be your conclusion?
Further about the acting: well, honestly, it is even more shameful to say that the only way to play the lover of his wife, he just plays in the literal sense of the word for her and for her husband, if it were not for him then you could not call it “actors” at all, but what they do “game”.
Infuriated almost everyone, especially the girl, so played game is difficult even to imagine, such a feeling that she is not a participant in the crash in the subway with hundreds of victims, but just went into a terrible basement and a little afraid ... Husband is shown with a rag, but he is still good, wife ... eh, that she is b ... and so it is clear, but when at the very beginning of the film was a scene as a lover says “well, your daughter is not the first time one night” she is outraged, and then calmly jumps on him and then I just wanted to spit in the monitor. And the tragedy when a fat courier carrying sandwiches with him apparently instead of asking so strong that he ate tears held back, and watched the film to the end, it was painful to look at it ... physically painful.
The moral of the film is ugly, almost everyone should have died for good, only a daughter and a lover should survive and she should stay with him (it would have been a really good drama ending), and if they did a strained “happie end” then this wife should have all been abandoned, but t to the daughter as a dog runs from one person to another, and obviously would have stayed with her mother, and the plot showed that she should not leave her father, then the father was left with a grief wife ...
I can’t understand how you can write positive reviews for this film, the film is bad in everything, you can look for shoals in it forever, many have already painted, and maybe for Ros. Cinema and "strong" cinema and like "first steps", but if you look not clouded eyes, it is bad, very bad.
With a stretch for Ros. kin can be put

If it’s just objectively (precisely) 4.5 out of 10, it’s a really bad movie.
The day of Russian cinema is approaching. In the Novosibirsk cinema "Victory" on this day were going to show only Russian films of recent years. A list was made public, including "Metro". It was not possible to watch this film at the time of the premiere, which I regretted, since later there were quite flattering reviews about it. And then a year and a half later, I again had the opportunity to watch Metro on the big screen, which I used, and did not regret.
A disaster film is quite a rare phenomenon in domestic cinema, even to be honest, I do not remember when ours last shot a movie of this kind. In the halls of the mind, only "72 meters" surfaced. Despite this, Anton Megerdichev perfectly coped with his task. This is his best work so far.
It turned out a high-quality, large-scale and rather ambitious product, with strong dramaturgy, along with funny moments, conflicts, passions, an interesting plot, good camera work and the same acting. It seems that a lot of effort and resources were invested in the creation of the picture, and these efforts were not in vain.
The picture was to some extent visionary. Almost a year and a half after the premiere, in the Moscow metro, in fact, there was a tragedy, of course not for the reasons presented in the film, but this is no easier, the accident was major and shocked many people.
The cast was selected quite successfully. Sultry Svetlana Khodchenkova, universal Anatoly Bely, which looks equally good, both in positive and negative roles, Sergei Puskepalis, miniature Katherina Spitz,Helena Panova in a funny role, etc.
Russian cinema does not stand still, it is developing. More and more often there is pride in the domestic cinema, although of course there is also enough slag, and where in fact it is not. We just need to try to minimize its production, approach the work with all responsibility. Here, for example, for the filming of Metro, were not lazy and built a 117-meter tunnel in life size, which of course causes respect for the creators.
As a result, we can say that Metro is a strong, worthy and almost the only Russian disaster film, with a tense atmosphere, an excellent production. All elements of the picture are at a high level, except that the installation in some moments fails. Our cinema is still ahead of us.
I congratulate everyone on the last day of Russian cinema.
I have a rather biased attitude towards Russian cinema. The trailer for this film caught my attention, and Russian filmmakers learned to make good quality videos. However, perhaps only the trailer of the merits of this film is exhausted.
The plot is quite simple and uncomplicated. The rotten wall of the metro tunnel finally rotted, and the tunnel flooded with water along with the train moving there. Most of the passengers died. Part got back to the station. But there is a small group of brave chief heroes who are looking for an outlet to the daylight. Most of the characters wander from one tunnel to another, committing some senseless actions that lead to absolutely nothing.
The script - as if written by a schoolboy who watched a good Daylight with Sly, and decided to do "just as cool, but in Moscow." However, due to the squandering and limited mental abilities of the producers, it turned out to be an absolute hopeless tractor, able to interest only the average housewives from villages who have never seen really worthwhile films in their lives.
Incredibly disappointed completely disgusting acting. No, I positively do not understand how people who graduated from theater universities and quite successfully play in theaters can give such a low, I would even say the funeral level of acting. All the actors in this film showed the absolute bottom of the modern Russian school of acting.
And most of all, people who write laudatory reviews of this film are amazed – how much you need not understand and not understand the cinema in order to enjoy eating and digesting what is shown here from the screen, and even admire “this”.
Another depressing moment is the soundtrack, which, according to the old Russian tradition, was completely inept and brazenly copied from John Murphy. That's really funny.
The only plus is the aesthetically very beautiful scene of the train crash. Yes, all the laws of physics suddenly stopped working at that moment, but it's really good. Probably on this stage and went the entire budget of the film.

Just for this scene, and a beautiful trailer.
Very bad.
Excellent advertising, high marks, a bright trailer, someone even compared “Metro” with the famous Soviet film-catastrophe, and I had hope — but what if they finally made a decent Russian movie? Yeah, they did. Just not a promising disaster-drama-thriller, and average melodrama with a simple love story.
I will not find fault with the carelessness of metro workers and generally negligent attitude to my duties, because I believe that in real life there is no such thing, but without such an idea the film would not have happened.
Back to the tragedy. There is nothing like the truth in the film. It should be a real chaos, where people are trying to get out at all costs. Mass panic, crushed bodies and one thought - to escape. Isn't that a disaster?
1) After the incident, people are surprisingly calm, someone is looking for a bag, someone is reading a book, and in the next car in general many people continue to sit, only a heartfelt conversation is missing.
2) Deep underground, knowing their slim chances of survival, grown men begin to find out personal relationships, and then fight? Are you serious?
(3) Amazingly wise and calm girl. Any man would have rushed into a panic, and she did well, even littered in the car with other people's bodies did not cry. Amazing.
There is nothing to say about the characters, not even the names are remembered. Primitive jokes of an alcoholic athlete, sucked from the finger of the torment of the main character and, which was not at all appropriate, love pleasures at the beginning of the film. Who's here to empathize with? Only the dog.
As a result, the film caused complete confusion. It is not right to compare this with the crew.
What is the Moscow Metro? On the one hand, a cheap and convenient way to travel around the capital. On the other - the Babylonian pandemonium, the stampede at rush hour, the crackling of ribs, the terrible stuffiness and swearing at the discontented. All this unimaginable number of people, wrinkled and aggressive at times, is on the subway. We are used to the fact that the Moscow metro, although cramped, but works properly, there will be no traffic jams on the turn, lasting for several hours, or congestion due to the fact that someone did not give way to someone. Everyone should work as smoothly and on schedule as the subway.
The authors of “Metro” made a bet on the breakdown of what, as it seems to many, can not break in principle. Well, the filmmakers didn't fail. The picture turned out to be spectacular, dynamic, thoughtful. The plot is far from trivial. The only drawback I think is the lack of characters, I think they are a little fresh. This is one of the few decent Russian action films. I personally liked it.
I have never loved our cinema and thought it was a failure. I don’t watch movies to keep my mind clear. But then I came across the Metro trailer. I read reviews and saw a huge number of negative reviews. I read more carefully, and more enthusiastic! The film was equated with the masterpieces of Hollywood. But you need to have your own opinion, so I sat down to watch and...
The general impression. Immediately flashed the thought: "Our still learned to make a movie". The intensity of the plot, bright and colorful special effects, painfully familiar metro. If everything is so great, why is my review red? Because the movie is “deflated” with each passing minute. The intrigue disappears, attracting interest and attention, that's all. “Metro” could fit in the standard hour and a half frame, and not stuffed frankly unnecessary fragments, each of which is similar to the previous even more than he himself. Because of this, you get tired of the movie. And if at first the beauty and, I am not ashamed of this word, epic, he was not inferior to most films of Western cinema, then at the end of a series of scenes in the flooded tunnel became worse than bitter radish.
On the sore topic for Muscovites, the visiting Caucasians also successfully rode. Well, the nature of the Russian man could not but show itself in this film. What do you do when there are many dead passengers in front of you? It's right to rob them. And nothing that the tunnel is about to flood, these are already details, because the main thing is to steal an electronic clock. By the way, I have not seen such a move in any Western film. People are always screaming, crying and calling for help. Whether they are more civilized, or we are not shown everything. That's if in general terms. Let's move on.
Plot. In this film, the plot is a "three". Enough has been said above about this, but I will repeat that the film spoiled the protractedness and inability to intrigue. But in order. The chaos surrounding the heroes, except for some moments, is quite plausible: someone necessarily panics, someone is looking for relatives, someone needs to film everything on camera, especially headless people start fights, and the rest steal while there is a possibility. On the train behind someone, the situation will certainly seem “cool”. In short, it's our way. But it's only at the beginning. In the first minutes, we were given a wonderful seed (here is a separate plus that there was no hour-long idleness before the main action), and then it seemed as if they forgot that the viewer should be kept in suspense, make him worry for the heroes. But there was no one to worry about. Why is the answer below.
Character images and acting. The characters of the film became the stone that pulled it to the bottom. The images are cardboard, the characters are not revealed, you do not empathize with any of them. And when all this began to layer on the tightness, it became quite bad. The only thing pleased Michael (Stanislav Duzhkov). And why was he given such a ridiculous role? I have a strong impression that if a fat man is necessarily a bad guy. But the actor played well and the ending of his story did not leave me indifferent. A tragedy without loss is not a tragedy.
What I liked was the lack of a marti-syushny protagonist who is all so smart, brave and saves everyone. That's what Western writers do. It didn't save the movie, though.
Special effects. They are on top, one of the few pluses of the film. That's great, that's great. Here we are, and here we, if not surpassed, at least managed to reach the ubiquitous Americans. It is a pity that everything went into effects, and the rest somehow did not think. Or they would say, “Everything is falling apart, drowning, breaking and exploding – they will definitely fall for it!” ".
Conclusion. Want two-hour action, colorful special effects, bread and spectacles? The movie is for you. Just keep in mind that the above benefits clearly left the entire budget, because about the rest of the scriptwriters somehow did not think.

I will not retell the story: you can read it yourself. I will say just a few sentences that can catch the moviegoer.
First of all, great acting. From the category of such films, I watched Sanctum. There. Compared to the Metro, he's not at all. Khodchenkova brings me to tears all the time - this is the norm. Katerina Spitsa is familiar to me from some Russian TV series. You don’t doubt her talent for a moment! Thank you to all the actors!
Secondly, the film is realistic, spectacular, just executed at a high level. I was scared, I was worried with the heroes.
Third, the topic is especially relevant these days. When around and around bureaucratic arbitrariness, treason, distrust, anger ...
I highly recommend watching absolutely everyone! Exquisite film, allegorical, emotional ... Anyway, don't take my word for it. Just look at this.
Honestly, I have not seen a real Russian cinema for a long time - one that would break through, not only allow you to relax well sitting on the couch or in the cinema, but would give a sense of reality, make you empathize with the heroes for real.
“Metro” is the first Russian disaster film in recent years. The script was based on the second novel from the trilogy “Tower”, “Metro”, “Epidemic” by Dmitry Safonov. The picture, despite the pessimistic mood of the audience and critics before the premiere (whatever you say, but low-grade comedies, designed more to beat the budget than on a high-quality creation, “done” their job – only by lowering the bar of cinema), immediately won success. However, the workers of the subway pointed to a large number of blunders and errors in the picture, and even a lack of understanding of the principles of the subway. However, this did not prevent Metro from first successfully passing in the Russian box office, and then coming out on digital media in France under the name "Subware" - the first fully duplicated in a foreign language.
In Russia, disaster films are rarely made (apparently because the case is very sensitive and requires a detailed and painstaking approach, primarily in technical terms). As an example, you can call “The Crew” and “72 meters”, so the appearance of the dramatic thriller “Metro” is luck. Of course, the film has (and probably - like any other - should have) critics, but it is clear that even if it had such strong competitors - "Legend No. 17", "Stalingrad" - "Metro" could well be the brightest event in Russian cinema in 2013.
General producer Igor Tolstunov in one of his interviews said that he conceived this project not because the paintings of this genre have not been addressed for a long time, and it could give a great payback, but because a few years ago he read the book of the same name and was very impressed with it. I am convinced that this genre is in demand by the viewer, as it gives him the opportunity not only to see a fascinating story, but also to immerse himself in it, live the life of heroes and also get an emotional shake. After all, the disaster film is not only a story about natural disasters or man-made collapses, but also about the heroes who in these extreme situations are trying to save themselves and others. It's the story of becoming a hero. That’s why the disaster film Crew was so popular. For us, this is very important, such a hero we strive to present in the film “Metro”.
“Metro” is a kind of “long-term”: the filming process took place from the summer of 2011 to the end of 2012, and before that, the preparatory period lasted another year, which took the construction of a giant scenery: a 117-meter tunnel, a bunker shaft and mock-ups of tunnels and cars on a 1:3 scale. However, when creating paintings of this genre and the scope of the rush can only harm.
The second element of success is the successful selection of actors. Sergey Puskepalis (plays the doctor of the city hospital Andrei Garin) and Anatoly Bely (lover of Andrei’s wife) – the main male roles, were approved almost immediately. However, according to the director of the picture, Puskepalis hesitated with agreement for a long time, since the original script looked like an American tracing. The whole year it was transformed into a domestic psychological film and at the same time spectacular. Svetlana Khodchenkova in the role of Irina played quite interesting. I was pleased with Stanislav Duzhnikov, who usually came to comedy roles. Here he performs in a serious dramatic way. As a good actor and a similar plan for me, he proved himself already in “Stroll in Paris” two years before this picture.
And lastly, for me and a compatriot-Belarusians who survived two national tragedies (and both in the subway) with a large number of victims, this disaster film is especially close and expensive. In May 1999, at the crossing of the station "Nemiga" as a result of a stampede killed 53 people (most young people aged 14 to 20 years), more than 150 people were injured. April 11, 2011 in Minsk at the station "Oktyabrskaya" as a result of a terrorist attack - a bomb explosion - killed 15 people, more than 200 were wounded.

I do not scaly to mark various blunders, inconsistencies and technical inaccuracies that would notice even a pooping child in his underwear, because they are not words.
As accurately and "politically incorrectly" noted in the film that in the case of the specified hell in default city - you can count at best on two and a half rescuers who can break through traffic jams or on G.I. soldiers. Joe, although the latter probably does not exist.
Anatoly Kotenev in the short but frowning eyebrows of the dramatic role of Duce Sobyanin is very ok, except that the speech is too clear ... oh, I played with pseudo-parallels:
The picture is nice. Entourage, atmosphere, colors, that there is still customary to mention the trou-critics – also all on the level. “Beauty, motherfucker!” – the words of the unnamed hero of the picture. The scene of the disaster - there, made wildly fit! A look.
In general, the story with the subway is the most convenient format for films-catastrophes and not only, judge: an enclosed space, a contact rail, cars, in each of which you can play a separate story: in one two lovers, in the other – a circus of Lilliputians, in the third the Chinese sew slippers.
I’m glad the movie paid off, actually. I even regret a few that I put it in a long box and kindly envy those who watched in theaters. The movie is worthy of being watched not “Oh, you need to pass an hour now, and I’ll watch sometime later”, but just like that, sit down and watch the whole thing without interruption next to a girl who several times in these two-plus hours will yell her nails at your hairy frog.

Let’s make a reservation right away, we will not compare the new film by Anton Megerdichev “Metro” with the Soviet “Crew” by Alexander Mitta. For some reason, this parallel immediately comes to mind for many film critics, although these films have nothing in common, except that they are shot in a similar genre and both, one way or another, clone Hollywood disaster tapes.
There were concerns about the Metro. And big ones. The personality of the director did not inspire trust, as did the chosen direction of creative activity. First of all, catastrophes in our country are enough in reality. And in order to adequately embody such a large-scale genre on the screen, you need decent funds, which Russian producers did not have. Secondly, Megerdichev’s previous work, the fantasy horror “The Dark World in 3D”, was a mixture of confused ambitions, bad acting and a completely insane script, generously flavored with a fairy-tale parochial flavor. And no one after such a frank fouffle from the director did not expect miracles. I just hoped it wouldn’t be so bad.
That's how it happened. Singing praises, let them choke on F-Dies, for no revelations "Metro" does not present. On the contrary, everything is recognizable to nausea, but for some time sound and professionally filmed. This, of course, is not a disaster, because the train floating through the metro tunnel and the water sloshing in all the crevices are not a sign of a blockbuster. Megerdichev filmed human drama in exotic scenery, thereby confirming his involvement in the technique of socialist realism. Whether it was worth putting up expensive sets and dipping characters into cold, dirty water every minute is another question. Judging by the final figures, it was worth it. But money, and this tape also indirectly confirms, does not always open the right doors.
... Act one. Moscow is night. Rover Sergeich finds water in the subway tunnel. The liquid with an unknown smell and taste confused Sergeich, about which he hastened to report to the dispatcher. The latter writes off the walker's alarm for late hour and hangover. The water, meanwhile, continues to ooze out of the crack. Surgeon of the state district hospital Garin on duty saves lives, walking around trying to call his wife Irina, who has long time to return home from a business trip. Irina tumbling in bed with a hahal, Garin’s longtime friend, businessman Konstantinov. Curtain.
Act two. Moscow morning. The streets are filled with people rushing to work, many kilometers of traffic jams are formed. Garin returns from duty home, his wife is not yet, but there is a young daughter who needs to be fed and taken to school. Irina’s lover drives her home on her Mercedes, and her husband, desperate to leave the parking lot, takes her daughter to the subway. A businessman who is late for the tender drops his mistress and also goes down to the subway, poorly hiding his disgust from meeting with the cattle in the face of ordinary Muscovites. Inspired by the morning freshness, Sergeich drinks vodka with a random drinker in a public place and catches the eye along with the police. At the site, he will be struck by the late thought that the water in the tunnel smelled of fish and mud. In the subway there is an emergency, the train derails under the onslaught of the Moscow-river flows. Curtain ...
After all, experience, the son of difficult mistakes, teaches something. After the pejorative failure (not financially, creatively) of Dark World in 3D, Megerdichev began to select components more carefully. What makes a good disaster movie? From sloppiness, tragedy, broken human destinies and a happy ending. This template was sustained by the authors from and to reproach the creators of the film almost nothing. Almost, for had Megerdichev been a very diligent student, he would have realized that the danger lies not in the scale of the plan, but in the details. And the latter, as usual, trouble.
With sloppiness, let's say it's okay. One alcoholic did not understand, the other lazy missed his ears. So we get a big bada boom from scratch, although the film does not assess the actions of forces designed to pre-empt such tragedies. If only you knew what happened.
The reason for the creation of “Metro” was the novel of the same name by the writer Dmitry Safonov. By the way, this is only the first part of the trilogy, where the rest of the books are also devoted to disasters. Not God knows what literary source, but still better than sucked out of the finger scripts, which are written by the number of characters.
The budget of the picture, in principle, did not allow more than managed to embody on the screen. It was the disaster that the film lacked. The only colossal scene was overshadowed by the irrepressible use of slow-motion technology, apparently borrowed directly from a great connoisseur of this kind of special effects - Bekmambetov. In an attempt to somehow enhance the impression of the tragedy, the authors poured water. Literally and figuratively. Do the wet thing, walk boldly. After the collapse of the composition, the tape was tightly hooked on drama, and on these rails it traveled to the final stop. That once again confirms that today for 9 million to shoot a full-fledged blockbuster is impossible. You need more money or less ambition.
Now for human destinies. I will not hide, I liked the cynical businessman-developer Konstantinov performed by Anatoly Bely. I liked it in the sense that the main parameters are correctly captured: boorish values, anger, selfishness, sarcasm and all-consuming vanity. Give or take, king of the mountain, king of the gorges. Such “masters of life”, of course, difficult to meet in the subway, but moving on the surface, it is difficult not to notice their satisfied, glossy faces, hidden behind the windows of expensive cars.
Negatively surprised Puskepalis, the nominal hero of the film. Some lifeless, empty character, the exact opposite of how brilliantly the actor played in the psychological thriller "How I spent this summer." It is clear that the inconclusiveness of the type grows with the legs of the script, but this is weak consolation. As for Irina performed by Khodchenkova, she generally seems superfluous at this “holiday of life”.
As usual, the secondary characters were lucky. This is a couple of teenagers (Alexei Bardukov and Katerina Spitsa), and a drunk handball player (Elena Panova), and, of course, Stanislav Duzhnikov, who performed magnificently (the series “Voronin”). They were really excited.
The resume will be short. The picture catches, but not what was planned. Discovery of the bitter reality of dirty Russia, ordinary people dying in a giant meat grinder. And the main characters with their passions in the style of “Santa Barbara” do not fall into the soul.

A leafy old notebook of the shot general — or rather, the payroll sheets indicating the millions of profits that came to my account for the month of March — found that he did not mention a word about watching the Russian film “Metro”. But this film is quite worthy of writing a line about it.
There's a train on the subway. Suddenly a block falls off the ceiling and falls into the tunnel! And behind it are waves of water! These stupid Moscow builders have vibrated the earth to such an extent that an underground tributary of the Moskva River broke into the metro! Disaster!
That’s actually half the plot, and there’s nothing so bad about it, except for a few not quite clear scenario tricks – for example, why kill a fat courier? Is it because he is a stupid idiot?
The title of “catastrophe film” is worked out honestly – and in a good way. The flooding of the subway, the reaction of the people, the actions of the authorities – all shown adequately. Journalists, as expected, are corrupt, security services are polite? but adamant, and the conditional Sobyanin looks very good to the impossible.
The beginning — all the wake-ups, the trains running, the way around, the systems testing — looks pretty cool, like the average American production movie. That is, at a previously unattainable level for domestic cinema. Then the level drops, but not critically, and remains decent until the very end. Which is good.
Special effects look appropriate and qualitative. You never want to point your finger at the screen and say, “Oh, special effect.” That is, from the mad desire to shove all sorts of spinning wheels into the film, explosions of slow-mo and other signs of style every three minutes (about as in “Turkish Gambit”), the creators have already got rid of it. Which makes me happy again.
Actors, by contrast, are not happy at all. Only one grandfather, the driver of the second, rescued train (Alexander Yakovlev) looked appropriate. I am immediately ready to give him a conditional Russian Oscar for the best supporting role and concurrently the best male role. Everyone else is about nothing at all. A brilliant surgeon, a soulless businessman, a busy businesswoman, an alcoholic Galochka - all of them are somehow about nothing. Well, if it were an unrecognized writer, the head of a criminal group, a figure skating champion and a homeless woman Fedosey - what would change? The lines are boring, the game is not interesting. No, the filmmakers did not succeed at all.
Everything else is much better. How is that possible? Nevertheless, Metro is a good domestic disaster film, for which there is no shame. My wife even cried several times when watching. This is a good indicator of quality.
