Henry VIII was in power for 38 years. The main reform carried out by Henry was the rejection of the submission of the English Church to the Pope, as a result of which an independent Anglican Church appeared. Opponents of Henry’s rejection of Catholicism argued that it was because the pope did not allow him to divorce his first wife.
