Director John Dullaghan’s biographical documentary about infamous poet Charles Bukowski, Bukowski: Born Into This, is as much a touching portrait of the author as it is an exposé of his sordid lifestyle. Interspersed between ample vintage footage of Bukowski’s poetry readings are interviews with the poet’s fans including such legendary figures such as Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Joyce Fante (wife of John), Bono, and Harry Dean Stanton. Filmed in grainy black and white by Bukowski’s friend, Taylor Hackford, due to lack of funding, the old films edited into this movie paint Bukowski’s life of boozing and brawling romantically, securing Bukowski’s legendary status. close

The historical film “Henry VIII” (Henry VIII) is another film version of the story about the life of the king of England, who ruled in the 16th century.
Henry VIII was in power for 38 years. The main reform carried out by Henry was the rejection of the submission of the English Church to the Pope, as a result of which an independent Anglican Church appeared. Opponents of Henry’s rejection of Catholicism argued that it was because the pope did not allow him to divorce his first wife. Indeed, an independent English bishop was appointed, who gave the go-ahead for divorce. But it is unlikely that the king of England needed anyone’s official permission, he had 6 wives, and a couple of times, without resorting to the formalities of divorce, executed his wives, thereby paving the way for the next wedding.
The role of the king in the film "Henry VIII" was played by Ray Winston ( "The Departed". close

Lenfilm's most recent major production spins a kind of historical fantasy based on real incidents that's full of ominous implications for today. Thought to be feeble-minded at best and crazy at worst, Pavel soon lives up to his enemies' fears: he dismisses long-serving courtiers, demands that peasants only work three days a week, and declares that state officials should start their days at 5 am. Soon, it seems that everyone who can is trying to hatch some kind of plot against him - including his own sons. Sumptuously designed, POOR POOR PAVEL constrasts the imperial splendor of the court with the sordid atmosphere of conspiracies and backstabbing that comes to define these characters' lives. close

The documentary film “Titian” is a small excursion into the life of the famous artist, in the creation of which Olga Zhukova took part. The High Renaissance is the time of Titian, a time of beauty, harmony and humanism. Already the first works of the master caused absolute delight of his contemporaries. Incredibly bright, harmonious and sometimes pagan, his paintings are a unique hymn to love and beauty of the body, a reflection of the human soul, his cloudless happiness and joy of earthly existence. What drove genius to create such masterpieces? Is his life full of wisdom or the influence of the ghostly cold Venice? The film, which brings together Titian’s paintings, may answer these questions. close
