At the age of fourteen, the young director shot his second film Bomber Jacket. It was about a boy who suddenly learns about his grandfather who died in World War II. Tom's brother played the lead role. Hupper’s painting successfully takes second place in the competition of aspiring filmmakers.
After graduating from high school, Tom Hooper begins work on a new script and brings it to life. The 15-minute video for Painted Faces premiered in 1992 at the 35th London Film Festival.
For some time, the director worked as an English teacher at Oxford, and devoted all his free time to the university drama society. With this Hooper was engaged in shooting commercials.
