Vladimir Kunin (Feinberg), writer, screenwriter and playwright, was born on June 19, 1927 in Lenigrad (now St. Petersburg). His father was a well-known film director and screenwriter.
Kunin managed to graduate only until the 8th grade, and in May 1944 he was taken into the army, where he graduated first from the school of climbers-saboteurs, and then from the school of shooters-bombers. Then he was sent to school, but six months later he was expelled for poor academic performance. Service in the army continued until 1951. After that, he entered the Institute of Sports and Physical Education, but in 1955 he was expelled because it was discovered that he had provided a fake certificate of secondary education. At that time, Kunin received the title of master of sports in acrobatics. Thanks to this, he got a job in the circus, and for 6 years he performed in the arenas of the USSR.
In the winter of 1961, during the performance, the actor received a serious injury, and he had to undergo long-term treatment. During this period, he wrote 2 stories, which were published in a Soviet magazine without any problems. He was offered the position of correspondent in this printed publication, and he agreed.
In 1966, his first book, Real Men, was published. It includes 2 stories and several stories. In 1967, Kunin, along with director Naum Bierman, wrote the script for the film. Incredible popularity came to the writer in 1988 after the publication in the magazine of the story “Intergirl”. Later it was released as a separate book, and in 1989 a film was made on it.
In the early 90s, Kunin was invited to Munich. There he wrote such works as “Ivanov and Rabinovich”, “Russians on Marienplatz”, “Night with an Angel”, “Bastards”, “Bird”, whose circulation has millions. His books are published in 23 countries and translated into 17 languages.
