Main events
Meli, a maid, dresses her mistress Clay and entertains her with a story about a philosophical dispute in the city square. The wife is disturbed by her husband’s recklessness, and she decides to leave him. Xanthos promises his wise slave freedom if he returns it. The slave carries out the task, but again does not receive freedom.
Meanwhile, Clay falls in love with Aesop, who also cares about her. However, the slave refuses the lady who slanders him before her husband, claiming that he harasses her. But the husband does not pay attention to this, because only Aesop can think of how to drink the sea. The slave finds a clever solution to the problem, but again the vile Xanthos does not keep his word. .
