In his youth he began to write literary stories, essays, notes. In 1973, Alexander Borodyansky graduated from the script faculty of VGIK in the specialty "film dramaturgist". For this scenario, Alexander Borodyansky received his first, incentive prize at the competition of the Central Screenplay Studio of Goskino of the USSR. After the institute, the screenwriter began working at the Mosfilm film studio. From 1974 to 1976 he was a member of the editorial board, from 1976 to 1977 - editor-in-chief of the creative association. Since 1986, Borodyansky has been a member of the board of the Courier studio, and in 1998 he became deputy general director of the Mosfilm film concern.
Alexander Borodyansky worked with such directors as Georgy Danelia, Karen Shakhnazarov, Eldor Urazbaev, Nikolai Dostal. He is the author of scripts for more than 30 feature films, among which - "Ladies Invite Cavaliers", "The Man with the Accordion", "Little Giant of Big Sex", "Shura and Prosvirniak", "Afonya", "We Are From Jazz", "City of Zero", "Courier" and others. Many films based on the scripts of Alexander Borodyansky have been awarded various prizes and awards. In addition, the screenwriter himself several times starred in the movies - the role of friends of the main characters in the films "Turn" and "Moscow does not believe in tears." In 2000, Alexander Borodyansky, together with Boris Giller, staged the film “Check”, in which the main roles were played by Nikolai Fomenko, Nikolai Rastorguev and Alexei Makarov.
