Born July 12, 1937 in Ishimbay (Bashkiria). After the death of his mother in 1947, he moved to his grandmother in the Ulyanovsk region, where he graduated from school, where he also worked as a laboratory assistant. In 1954 he left for Salavat, where he worked as a fitter-installer. Since childhood, he showed acting abilities, participated in amateur activities, studied in the Palace of Culture in dance, vocal and dramatic circles. In 1955 he entered GITIS (workshop of I.M. Since childhood, he showed acting abilities, participated in amateur activities, studied in the Palace of Culture in dance, vocal and dramatic circles. In 1955 he entered GITIS (workshop of I.M. Raevsky). A.A. Goncharov invited him, still a 4th year student, to the Moscow Drama Theater (on Spartakovskaya Square).
In 1962, the theater moved to Malaya Bronnaya, Grachev worked here until 1993.
In 1967, A.V. Efros came to the theater. This director is associated with the best works of Grachev. “Efros was and remains the most important landmark in art for me,” the artist admitted.
After the opening of the Et Cetera theater in 1993 under the leadership of A.A. Kalyagin, he was invited to the role of Serebryakov in Uncle Van by A.P. Chekhov in the production of A. Sabininin and remained to work in this theater. He played in performances in the entreprise of M.M. Kozakov.
Since 1957, he starred in films (more than 40 films), played the Impostor in Boris Godunov A.S. Pushkin, staged by Efros on television.
He died on May 20, 2005.
