Alexander Borisovich Gradsky, singer, composer, guitarist, poet, was born on November 3, 1949 in Kopeysk, Chelyabinsk region, in the family of a mechanical engineer and a dramatic theater artist.

In 1971, director A. Mikhalkov-Konchalovsky began working on the film.
"Romance of Lovers" Murad Kazhlaev was supposed to write the music for the film, but he refused. And then the job was offered to Gradsky. For the film, Alexander not only wrote music, but also performed vocal parts.
When released in 1974, the film was a success and brought fame to the composer. In the same year Gradsky graduated from Gnesinka in the faculty of solo singing. Gradsky's songs "I Was Once", "Farewell" were included in the album of 1973.
In 1980, Gradsky completely changes the style of performance, combining rock in his works, along with dramatic lyrics and tragic satire, a vivid example of this style are the compositions “Song about television”, “Monologue of a loaf for 28 cents of high-grade flour”, “The story of a man who could not go on vacation to the Canary Islands”, etc. Protesting his work against the social system Alexander falls under the censorship of that time. Abroad "unreliable" were not released, and Gradsky until 1988 could not go on tour.
A foreign trip gives a tangible result in the development of the popularity of Gradskogo, the musician performs on stage with such masters of foreign music as
John Denver In Japan, Alexander signed a contract with a Japanese firm and released two CDs under its brand name.
In addition to songs, Gradsky wrote several ballet productions (“Rasputin”, “Man”, etc.), rock opera “Stadion”, also wrote music for more than 40 feature and documentaries, cartoons. Participated in the recording of the album "Machinopainting"
