At the age of 16, Larry Clarke became addicted to amphetamine. Since he always had a camera with him, by the age of nineteen Clark had a rather impressive series of photos about the lives of American teenage drug addicts. All of Larry’s early photos were about drugs.
In 1964, after graduating from art school, Clarke went to New York, where he was sent to Vietnam. In 1971, the first book of photographs by Larry Clarke was published, dedicated to the war and pre-war life of Clark. Subsequently, Larry Clark published several more photo albums, which are quite widely and scandalously known, since the main themes of the photographer’s work are violence, weapons, drugs and sex.
In 1995, Larry Clarke's debut film was released.
