Losing a chance, faith dies in us.
But there is hope that the loss will not die.
It keeps us going and makes us see.
Some way that leads us to salvation ..." an excerpt from the poem by Natalia Druzhkova
Everyday life is not particularly filled with some ups, miracles and incidents. But there are days that will forever change people and leave a deep mark on their memory. Seven completely unknown people until one moment, were obliged to fight for their lives and for each other’s lives, caught in a terrible disaster in the subway, which threatened to take not only their lives, but the lives of almost the entire city. And after that, they will not forget each other, and some will not lose.
During the existence of Russian cinema, so many upsetting stereotypes have been created that you do not expect any breakthroughs and truly worthwhile films, because sometimes believing in the success of our cinema means believing in a miracle. But there are miracles. The subway is finally a magnificent and exciting disaster drama. There is so much pain and fear in the plot that the viewer will feel even if he does not want to. The whole time of the film is a struggle, a struggle for life and for love. While watching, you want to believe in their salvation so much that your heart is as if in a fist squeezed, not allowed to break away from what is happening; with trembling, all on nerves and with tears, you continue to look and penetrate deeper into this horror of tragedy, feeling all the losses and severity of this situation, when you need to go with someone you hate, be ready to give your life for the one you love, and try to catch your last chance to live. In the “Metro” unfolds a mind-blowing drama, how many passions there are boiling, and how many feelings are drawn on the screen, a whole stream of life clashes and emotions – picturesque and elegantly depicted on the cinematic canvas. Here are four separate stories, which are later collected into one single – the fifth. And hard, such an impossible joy, which they achieved by raising their hands up to the light, forever changed them and forever remembered by all people who saw those terrible suffering and that bloody path to peace over the subway tunnel.
Actors, after what they created, it is very difficult to call them that, they are painters, miracle workers! They experience everything not artificially, but actually, they live and fight death, which pursues them on the rails. A huge amount of talent and craving for this picture, as if they had already experienced it, as if they remembered it, how they folded from the inside. In the eyes of each of them burns a flame of hope, hot and thirsty for the salvation of all with whom they walk. It's impossible to just get used to it, I don't believe it! It's a miracle, it's something great happened to the team. Did my impressions spoil the participation of Anfisa Vistingausen (I have my own personal antipathy for this girl), and the game of Khodchenkova – Svetlana, what is with you? Then you hit exactly that note, or just like that, waving your hand with feigned emotions and expression read the text, although the moment of sobbing at work was unmatched! It was very sad that Duzhnikov’s character did not see the sun, he was not afraid, but he did not escape, although he still hoped, because he wanted to believe that he would be able to reach the end. Sergey Puskepalis, Anatoly Bely, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Anfisa Vistingausen, Alexei Bardukov, Katerina Spitsa, Elena Panova, Stanislav Duzhnikov – all of them are huge thanks! It was grandiose, talented, real, emotional and graceful, and most importantly touching and real, you made us cry and feel pain, you dragged us into this situation and made us believe.
Some fragments of this breakthrough are an integral part of the image. The brilliant music of Yuri Poteenko is a reflection of the freedom and the exhalation in which they and we the audience let go of all the weight, seeing how they reached this clear blue sky, through the depths of the subway. High-quality special effects and a good picture - I was happy with that, you can't find anything. And you know, about professional blunders, I will be silent, because I have not seen them, my impressions are on the limit, I really liked everything and the general appearance of this wonderful picture will not spoil anything.
Metro is a masterpiece of Russian cinema So unexpected and amazing. It is for such domestic paintings that the audience missed. I am not afraid to call this film even one of the legends of our authorship. Well-coordinated and high-quality work of the whole team justified itself. A magnificent drama based on disaster, one of the best representatives of its genre, which is not a pity to spend time. The subway is a really worthwhile creation that caused a lot of emotions.

P.S.Those who did not like, forget the movie stereotypes in the direction of native cinema, because otherwise you act on the stupid principle "A Baba Yaga against!".
Don't be afraid.
Russian cinema taught me not to expect anything good from him, especially in the dramatic genre. And what a surprise it was when the movie “Metro” turned out very good quality. It is striking that the filmmakers tried to make it really good and professionally approached its production. You often look at domestic films with a multi-million budget and ask yourself: “Where did the millions of dollars allocated for the film and included in its budget go?” After all, they do not have special effects, actors are not of the highest standard in the main roles, scenery from papier-mache, etc., etc.? In the movie “Metro” it is clear that all the millions spent went to their intended purpose and work.
Among the cast are many famous persons. Not the first magnitude, of course (and this is probably even a plus, and then our “superstar” wandering from film to film is already tired of watching), but managed to shine in many films and TV series. And it is worth noting that the acting in the film is very decent level. Everyone managed to convey the characters of their characters. You empathize with the heroes of the film, and this is an indicator that the actors performed their work on the set in good faith.
Video series and special effects for Russian cinema at a very high level. Colorful and large-scale shows almost all the scenes of the film (the panic in the subway, the accident and its consequences, the flooding of the tunnel, etc.). Everything that happens on the screen looks very vivid, energetic and dynamic, despite the fact that the main part of the film takes place in the closed space of the subway. The scenery is also built to glory, and the views of Moscow give the desired color to the picture.
The director fully managed to show all the drama and horror of what is happening, and at the same time not to cross a certain line separating an interesting, spectacular film disaster, from sadistic cinema with excessive cruelty and depression. And this shows that the director coped with his duties.
But it is worth noting one of the disadvantages that caught my attention. Love story painting proved to be her weak spot. The whole course of the development of the relationship of the main character with her husband and lover seems somewhat ill-conceived. It is not clear why she first wants to stay with her lover, then I think she does not want to divorce her husband, but the boyfriend seems to be better, but she does not want to ruin her family, and all her throwing is somehow knocked out of the general flow of the film.
But in everything else, the film turned out to be qualitatively made, colorful, with good acting and directing. For Russian cinema is one of the few bright spots in its more than 20-year history.

I haven’t written reviews for a long time, but Metro is running through. The film is very dynamic, energetic, full of emotions. Not without some humor - balancing between life and death, some of the characters do not lose optimism.
Technical performance, if not excellent, then at a high level: the faults of the subway, the camera flying above the passengers, the raging water – everything is realistic, everything is as if they really broke, flew, raged. No computer modeling eyes catchy, as often happens in Hollywood blockbusters. In general, the picture is made very decently, and can easily be a refutation of the popular opinion about Russian cinema. A little confused only collages weighing in the house of the main characters: it is painfully clearly Khodchenkova stuck in Photoshop to Puskepalis. Well, is that the point?
However, the plot is still not transparent – a viewer like me, far from physics, but meticulous in detail, will necessarily ask a physical question at the most critical and decisive moment of the picture (which I will not say). There may be a feeling that the film is a blunder, that the director is confused with physics. But if you do not lazy and open the Internet, everything will fall into place, and understanding will be pleasant. This is more of a plus of the movie than a minus. Satisfaction with knowledge and a plot with semantic content is beautiful.
Well-chosen cast. It happens that some actors simply can not be imagined together, well, they do not combine - and all, I do not know why. There is no such thing - believe in lovers, believe in your husband, believe in chubby with a diplomat and everything combined. Believe the asthmatic – in an interview, Spitz said that she learned to breathe like asthmatics for a long time – and learned! In the final, the main backbone generally plays with only one eye. This is very expensive!
And the film can be called anti-advertising of the capital. After viewing it, I do not want to go to Moscow at all: Who knows, maybe that was the director’s idea. If so, he did it a hundred times. And fig is not only for people who find themselves in the epicenter of events, but also for simple inhabitants who stand in traffic for hours. Whether you are still hesitant to move to the center or not, this movie will help you make the right choice. Well, imho.
Despite all the roughness I mentioned above, the Metro is worth watching, if only for general development. But for me personally, this film was a discovery, another worthy Russian job, entertainment and training at the same time.
From the very beginning, my assessment was:
I was going to see this movie for a long time, but something stopped me every time. I finally decided.
The beginning of the film is quite ordinary: a woman, a man, another man, another woman, a small child, a boy, a girl... None of them knew or even guessed what would happen to them, with their fates, and how cleverly they would intertwine.
I will not and do not even want to talk about the story here.
I'll just say one thing: thank you, Russia! Thank you so much! I am so grateful to all those who worked on the film 'Metro'.
I really want to highlight the actors, and I want to start, it would seem, with a completely secondary character.
Ivan Makarevich. Yeah, I love this guy a lot. I’ve watched almost all of his movies. And this is not only because Vanya is a good actor, but because he appears exclusively in quality films.
Now on to Elena Panova. Seeing her as an alcoholic, I was, to put it mildly, shocked. But the way her character is gradually revealed, I saw the beautiful Elena that I knew earlier from her works.
Since I am not a fan of Russian cinema, no one except Makarevich, Panova and Khodchenkova was familiar to me before.
But I really liked Sergey Puskepalis’s game. Alexey Bardukov and Katerina Spitz also pleased me very much.
I would highly recommend this film to everyone. Believe me, I didn’t believe in our cinema either, but it lives, it develops, for which let’s say a word of gratitude to everyone who makes such films. And this movie, I think, should be discounted and not blamed for a little improbability. Don't say they wouldn't have lasted that long. It is better to think about life, about what you did not say, did not do, offended someone. Just change your life for the better every day and every hour, so that there is nothing to regret in such situations.
From the film I remained under the impression) just do not understand from what... or from a really wonderful film, or from joy and surprise... after all, during the final credits I escaped “Well, did we learn how to make a movie?” !
I wanted to watch the film as soon as I learned about its planned release, accidentally reading the description ... but I did not expect too much ... I went to the cinema with complete skepticism. Too rarely is something acceptable even removed. Then I brought a trailer and a list of actors. Well, the last impetus to the trip to the cinema was the friendly unity of all friends who watched the film - "Very good!" Go!
The show was evening and not in the center of Moscow ... the hall was half empty. I went with friends who love movies to their own taste.
The beginning was a little confused “So is this a disaster movie or a melodrama?” But quickly everything fell into place.
Plot. I liked its dynamism, personally I can not distinguish here the protractedness and tediousness) two hours passed on the same breath ... sometimes there was a feeling of complete immersion ... emotions were very exciting and forced to empathize ... the moment with slow-motion shots almost at the beginning ... maybe there are still emotions associated with the events of March 29, 2010 ... The panic is shown very realistically and frighteningly ... my opinion is even stronger that in such situations panic is even more dangerous than the incident itself. Two romantic (and sometimes not so) lines complemented the picture and diluted the tension. I was glad that even here there were a few moments that made me laugh, and it did not even break the line of the movie disaster. Of course, the ending from the part is foreseeable, but a couple of times I thought that there was clearly an unorthodox outcome here ... and yet there was no disappointment from this at all. The film shows the vicious negligence of people ... er, and they said, “the water is not good!” ... and an even bigger problem in such situations – traffic jams! Yes, it is the famous Moscow hated traffic jams! Well, the complete isolation of the man of the metropolis - everyone runs somewhere and he does not care about all the others (with rare exceptions).
Actors.Andrey (Sergei Puskepalis) - coped perfectly! Emotions are transmitted, in my opinion, to the whole hundred. It was especially interesting to watch the hero restrained half of the film so as not to “restore justice” on his own. Well, it shows a normal reaction and correct behavior in such a situation. Impressed the role of the ideal father and professional in one person
Irina (Svetlana Khodchenkova) - also great! Initially, the heroine caused disgust and constant condemnation ... but, thank God, the adequacy in her still remained and maternal feelings won! Her torment is clearly visible both at the moment of complete obscurity and after realizing what is happening. A little impressed by the moment with the shoe over the abyss ... absolutely understandable impulse, although it is unreasonable ... Yes, in general, Svetlana impresses me with her game) while I can not call her a failed role ... everywhere you can put a minimum solid “good”! And then I was happy.
Vadim (Anatoly White) - great!! Perfectly coped with the role of almost brutal, sometimes impulsive successful man. Beautiful, well fit into the status of the character, the character is displayed suitable. It was fun at the beginning to watch a few minutes of the behavior “man in a tuxedo from Armani in the subway at rush hour”) Perhaps Vadim is the only passenger who, even in such stress, remembered the physics, which here meant implantation. The tension from stress still broke out at the end, which was played perfectly. I have never seen this actor before and have nothing to compare with. But here I liked the expression of the eyes – almost 100% emotional hit.
Ksyusha (Anfisa Vistingausen) - what can you say? This is already a small professional actress) after all, "Metro" her 8th film ... at first annoyed by the seeming capriciousness of the heroine ... then she revealed herself as a normal girl, disposed to herself. Loved her attitude to the dog) and generally perfectly coped with the emotions of the heroic child. Well, maybe I'm biased - warm brown eyes bribe me ...
Denis (Alexey Bardukov) - I saw this actor quite often ... pleasant both externally and in the game) I remember well from "Sabotage"... but there is a completely different character ... Here he played a cute, creative, responsive guy) the most memorable scene - diving for a can ... really scary ... In the beginning cheered the find - guide Well, the whole thing is just such a positive ... even disgusting sometimes ... but still added a spoonful of tar - "... and I was expelled from the institute ... nothing?" it defused the situation in time).
Alice (Katherina Spitz) - on the screen, too, I see her for the first time ... first came across her interview in "Campus"... after watching the film (and perhaps immediately after reading) the idea that allegedly in the film she played herself ... well, hardly any of us can know exactly how to behave in the most critical situation ... But the playfulness and “excess” I did not notice) and the role is not as simple as it may seem.
Galya (Helena Panova) is a long-known actress), but for the most part I see her in the second roles ... as here... I didn't recognize her at first! I don’t know whose more credit it is – makeup artists or her talent... or maybe a combination of that. Played with humor and quite plausibly atypical character of the film. For the most part, it is with the tick that most of the funny moments are associated.
Misha (Stanislav Duzhnikov) is also a long-known actor) quite diverse, but always creates the impression of a “teddy bear” so big and kind. Here he played a complete dismissal... almost smear... his panic was expressed in non-stop chatter... one of the most comic characters) vividly remembered the moment “Don’t be afraid! Just don’t be afraid!”
All the other actors (rescuers, machinists, journalists, etc.) even coped with their episodes on 4-5! Everyone is in their place and they believe they are the ones they play. The driver of the 17th train, Sergeich and the head of the rescue team were most pleased.
Result. The film still caused a “wow” effect... well, I did not expect this! Special thanks to the director (Anton Megerdichev)! And a big thank you to the cameraman (Sergey Astakhov)!!! What a job they did! So many finds for our cinema in terms of angles and filming process! Well, I have already heard that Astakhov is famous for this: the BI-2 soundtrack is perfect! The picture captures completely ... here you and the ordinary life of a big city, an ordinary family ... and terrible fear, stress, empathy, even tears ... and love, and hatred ... and a big trouble, which turned out to be quite such luck for the main characters ... well, the action is not bad.
Would you recommend a look? Well, only if very impressionable with caution. Of course, it is clear that everyone will not like it, but for modern Russian cinema this is the first breakthrough! Thank you! Let this be only the beginning of the return of domestic cinema from the category of “oh, what good can be?” to “good”.

Many people, including me, have developed a very reasonable stereotype that Russian cinema is a low-grade thing, that there are no normal modern domestic films and there will be no. Until recently, I thought so.
A little inappropriate beginning, which apparently was supposed to show us the life of a big city, is quickly replaced by for which I love cinema. Drama and Suspense
Divine in its intensity, tension, pressure the scene of the catastrophe itself, which caused me shock. It seems that not a horror movie, shows a life situation, a kind of accident, but terrible, to the pain of the heart. No radioactive mutants and anomalies, only sincere fear for ordinary people, for their fate.
Characters of heroes - for every taste. Each person will find their own character, their own type. Will worry about him throughout the film, as I was worried about the charming and sentimental housemate Misha, in which I recognized myself.
The skill of the scriptwriter-playwright is to make the viewer love, or to begin to fiercely hate the character. The creators of the film "Metro" it happened.
More than memorable musical compositions during the main part of the film I noticed. Although, perhaps this is for the best, because they were replaced by something long and escalating. This is what happens in movies like this.
The only minus are not the highest quality special effects, failures in which were visible to the naked eye. But this did not spoil the impression of viewing.
I want to thank the creators for an interesting film, beautiful actors and genuine, sincere emotions. Thank you!
Can I charge my phone somewhere?
- Nope. You can’t eat truffles here and you can’t swim on a yacht.
And how did the Russians develop a stereotype that if the film is domestically produced, it is necessarily bad? I agree, our cinema has seen everything: the ups and downs, but still a lot of good pictures. One I can name is 30. But it's different with this tape. The Metro is a disaster movie. Which brought down our viewer at the beginning. And I myself am among those who thought badly about what will eventually come out of this material (after all, the idea is super). As soon as I heard that something like this was coming out under a blue-red-white flag, I said my "fi" like many others and didn't give a chance even to the trailer. I could not believe that Russia could make a blockbuster, and even a disaster! And to remove so that not only is not ashamed, but even pride takes.
I myself do not like this genre, since on the one hand it is a spectacular event (and the meaning is lost), and on the other it is nervous for me. Well, I watched this unfortunate 2012 on this topic, well, that's it. I will not compare it with Hollywood catastrophes. Because Metro is on a completely different level for me. I can say one thing: this is a breakthrough for the country in this genre.
From the point of view of the same spectacularity and special effects this is really a decent picture. I believed so much in what was happening that I was afraid to go into the subway. Just like I once believed in Hogwarts. Thanks to the same special effects. From the point of view of the plot, I can’t complain either. It wasn't a minute boring. Only scary, sometimes unbearable. Is that how it should be?
Actor's game also liked it. Simple and talented. Sergei Puskepalis, Anatoly Bely, Alexei Bardukov, Katerina Spitsa, Elena Panova, Stanislav Duzhnikov, just a girl and a dog - so much played! I was able to feel sympathy for every passenger on these unfortunate cars. And every time something happened to someone, I would cry. A nightmare. Bright acting work showed and not at all outstanding Svetlana Khodchenkova. Very emotionally, in some moments it was just heartbreaking. I didn’t expect anything like that from this actress. Of the secondary heroes, Ivan Makarevich was naturally remembered (a copy of his father). Is it he in the “House of the Sun” papule depicted?) and Anatoly Kotenev (by the way, my housemate). For Kotenev is especially happy, because from the series of the imperishable channel “Russia” he managed to break into a full-length movie. Well done! It's about time. He played as usual, but he was fine.
Scenario... And here everything is fine - no matter how picky! Dialogues are beautiful, and they are only in moderation: humor, pain, and silence (most importantly). There is no pathos that our country loves so much.
Power is very truthful. And in general, all the features of Russia, which complicate similar situations, from the rubric "Only with us" in the film are noted and reflected. And some universal vices in stressful situations are also clearly visible. That is, in terms of vitality, you will not find anything more realistic in this genre.
In general, "Metro" is an amazing film in its genre. First, it's about people and for people. Not for those who want a messiah. Secondly, it carries a semantic load, absolutely readable and understandable. Third, it evokes a dozen emotions. I am proud to say that this is the best thing I have seen on the subject. And I won't regret putting
I do not understand those who say that the film has a great atmosphere and everything is thought out to the smallest detail.
This film is one big falsity - from the very first dialogue on the subway (it is quite obvious that the director has either never been to the subway, or there is a more difficult case) to waiting for one of the heroes of the car at a place where no one even suspected his appearance. The picture is replete with all sorts of absurdities, inconsistencies and just plain bad directorial work. Who can think that a storm grid leads to the subway? And one of the heroes suddenly realizes where it leads? An hour ago, he was only guessing in what area of Moscow could be a bunker, and suddenly - there it is this grid leading to the bunker! The storm grid! Bunker! How could the characters end up at the end of the movie? No way! And there are only big mistakes at every step. And blunders are smaller (similar to the fact that the wave goes at the same speed with which it drags a subway car, and that the glass of the car can withstand the pressure of the entire depth of the Moscow River + the depth of the subway) – not count at all. From the way the director tried to create ' atmosphere' I want to cry. Even the nervous tension of the heroes is not shown! Therefore, the moment when one of the heroes suddenly breaks down is perceived with bewilderment.
The film turned out to be very long, predictable (not only from the point of view of the finale - this is natural for such films, but from the point of view of each individual episode - each subsequent step is easy to read), with a very weak atmosphere (in fact, the entire atmosphere revolves around corpses - but this is extremely incomprehensible). The visual effects were 3. For the entire movie, only three! One of them is too long (remembered the film ' Airplane'), the second is good, the third is unrealistic.
There were 2 (yes, yes, only two!) moments, the realism of which the director thought. These are good moments that together scrape 2 points out of 10.
In general, there is no disaster film here even smells. Don't flatter yourself, Mr. Megerdichev.
Sarcastically treating the encroachments of Russian directors on the laurels of Michael Bay, going to the session, I was not particularly excited about the idea of watching Metro.
By the end of the film, my sarcasm had left no stone unturned.
If you close your eyes to some cliches of overseas directing, which still could not be avoided, then you can categorically declare that “Metro” is the best domestic disaster film to date.
What is success?
Choice of events. The fourth in the world in terms of intensity of use, the Moscow metro system returns millions of people daily to the era of socialist realism, thanks to the specific ideas of Soviet architects about the decoration of public places. V. I. Lenin, whose name the metro of Moscow and the Moscow region carries today, could hardly imagine the dramatic events unfolding in the film. We are used to this mode of transport to a much greater extent than to land buses and minibuses. That’s why taking the subway is commonplace for most people (unless you’re an oligarch or a pop star, of course). The axiom that the events of the film can happen in reality with EVERYONE is demonstrated very clearly and frighteningly convincingly on the example of representatives of certain segments of society who do not favor this type of transport and go down to the subway only in exceptional cases.
Special effects. Visualization of the scenes of disasters in Metro is, without exaggeration, at the level of the limiting capabilities of Hollywood post-production gurus. Remember that this masterpiece was removed “our”, had only when sounded native to the heart, typically Russian turns of speech.
Masking. Unlike Western blockbusters, where crowds run away from alien invaders or tsunamis organized and with the same facial expression, watching the realities of Russian behavior in a stressful situation was kind of expensive, as cynical as it may sound. Reading a book surrounded by a mountain of corpses, chewing sandwiches to the waist in the water, an inexhaustible sense of humor a minute before death - this is so in our way!
Game. Got away without Gosha Kutsenko. Undoubtedly plus the Metro. And if no joke, everything is at a very decent level. Megerdichev picked up actors about equal opportunities, so he did without the notorious “tug of the blanket” in the acting game.
The capital letter "M" is red. This is the success of a Russian disaster film.
At first I thought it was Glukhovsky. I found out it wasn't Glukhovsky. Then I thought it was a Russian swing on some blockbuster. I found out that this is a Russian swing for a good movie. Was I going to throw my coin into a piggy bank with such an exhaustive "Profit" inscription? No, in principle. But the coin rang, and I was able to assess whether the swing had reached its goal. Well, in my opinion, the little Russian Blockbuster-Catastrophe was at the rostrum and a confident stroke marked his top at the level of the inscription “good”. And this is if you do not make a discount on the producer country. If you do, great.
It seems to me that those who believe that Mother Russia is the last bastion of spirituality, etc., that Russia should and can do only art house qualitatively, it makes no sense to pay attention to Metro. As well as those who value originality above all else. Metro is corny, really. And the thought there is, in fact, one (in my opinion, as in any disaster film) - there is only a moment. No, well, we see and typical of our Slavic sloppiness and "maybe" as the cause of what happened. But I don't think it's important. That's not what matters. Today you prefer to leave your child alone for the sake of your female happiness (just for the morning, for business), and tomorrow you can mourn him, lost forever. Today you kill another day with a plastic cup on the street, and tomorrow you will not have time for anything worthwhile, or even for this cup. It's very, very banal, isn't it? Needless to say, the idea of how valuable every moment is and how valuable close people are is mainstream, fu-fu. However, the fact is that it is not only worn, but also eternal. I liked how it was presented in the Metro. It's not bad or bad.
“Metro” introduces us to the lives of the heroes with whom we will spend 2 hours. This does not last very long, interspersed with the inexorable “cap-cap”. Either due to constant personnel inserts with water, or because you already know what will happen, these minutes before the disaster are minutes of waiting and increasing tension. And this is happening. The train crash is amazing. It needs to be seen on the big screen. There's no point in describing anything. It makes an impression. The grinding and screaming of the driver are replaced by music. We do not hear the cries and sounds of disaster, but this does not diminish the tangibility of what is happening. I don’t know about Russian special effects movies, but it’s super and there’s no excesses. Looks like it's pretty reliable. And it's gorgeous. For some reason, I had a picture in my memory of shards of glass in focus. Then the standard method of creating a voltage is quite well implemented: a finger on the button to turn off the electricity, and people in the water - will people have time to run out on a dry surface, will they have time somewhere to turn off electricity until the water reaches the contact rail. It works, but it works.
Then everything is also standard - the search for salvation by a group of survivors, the search for salvation by officials at the top. Good characters are needed here for viewability. And they are. No discovery again. Under the ground: a funny plump, a father and daughter, accidentally found themselves in the subway richer (part-time lover of the wife of the same dad), a former athlete is now an acoholic, and a couple in love, becoming in love in front of the viewer. Oh, and the mimi-effect dog. On the surface: wife-mother-lover, correspondent and operator with RTV, digger. Everybody's good. Personally, I believed everyone who needed it, so I empathized.
Water, enclosed space and hopelessness. I can feel it. I'm not afraid of a confined space, but water makes me uncomfortable. To be honest, when Denis was diving for the inhaler, it became hard for me to breathe directly. I don't like water. At all. The crowd is really terrible. It's worse than any disaster.
In short, I liked the movie. The situation with him is like this: you have a student who is not a genius, but tries. He is doing a very decent job. It may not be a masterpiece, but qualitatively. And for the effort you can overestimate.
As for me - word of mouth and PR company - that's what the film held on after the release. Everywhere, everyone talked about this film, “undeservedly little” collected at the box office. On many portals there were reviews and reviews, in which the meaning was something like this: “Done, our good film finally, but it did not pay off much, but a pity.” They don't appreciate art. And that was intriguing.
I felt sorry for the director and producers who made such a good film and did not collect the expected box office. In short, I began to watch not biased, although I usually treat other domestic films as “cesspool” by default. “I waited,” I thought, “finally ours made a good film, and not in any genre, but immediately a disaster film.”
And what a surprise it was when the movie got past the middle and I didn't see anything. I mean, not at all. A completely banal story, completely sliced from Western films - and sliced unsuccessfully. I was always sure that you shouldn’t try to shoot the same way as in Hollywood – well, it won’t look real, our mentality is different. But no, they are trying to relieve American passions in our flooded subway. It looks like a mess.
Cardboard, dumb-headed characters who have also been ripped out of Western films do things that get ridiculous at times. Especially I, in this regard, was pleased with Mikhail (Stanislav Duzhnikov), who committed suicide by jumping under the train .
Acting play. To be honest, I thought the movie would pull it out. “Metro” was shouting at every corner, and I thought, for some reason, that finally in Russian cinema there were actors who could interest the viewer. No way! Whether the director is bad, or the characters are so idiotic that they can not be taken seriously, but the actors do not pull - well, do not believe them and that's it. No one. Not bad played only one actor — Sergey Puskepalis, who got the role of the main character, Garin. All the rest, ALL, at the level of school amateurism.
The advantages of the film, of course, there are, but behind a loud PR company and such fat cons they are not visible. Really at a good level here, except for the scenery and special effects. Well, the operator’s work, although most of it does not pay attention to it, nevertheless.
In light of the above,
Another domestic mega-blockbuster, storming the impressionable Russian viewer. No, of course, not everything is so bad: there is a grand catastrophe, there is a crumbling literally in front of the eyes of the Moscow subway, there are mysterious top-secret underground tunnels and stations used by the Soviet special services for unexplained purposes, there are crowds of ridiculously dying people through the criminal fault of negligent employees (whose bodies lie openly on the street of the center of the capital, enhancing the tragic effect). There is, of course, a love triangle, or rather a square, with the participation of the passionate and unrestrained heroine Svetlana Khodchenkova, torn between simple female happiness / the immodest spectacle of which is given too much screen time at the beginning of the film / and, doubtful in her case, the duty of a pious wife and mother, her two opposite men and a clearly unhappy child, which obviously interferes with the mother. In other words, the movie spectacle should please both sexes: some surprise with an underground tsunami and rolling cars, and others touch to tears with melodramatic passions.
Let it be, everything is so, and we are offered only entertaining spectacles, without ventures and complications, designed for our primitive needs. Now, I was wondering what physicists and technicians said, if even a person far from it becomes obvious that we are offered special effects for the sake of better effect? It is a shame that in order to scare the worse, they compose and invent, considering the viewer a fool and a student who skips school.
And I also became sad that once again my compatriots were exposed in such a hopeless, stupid and absurd form that it is sickening. No, it is understandable, though inexcusable, when we are portrayed in Western cinema in such a stereotyped and caricatured way. But yours? And after that, we are supposedly obliged to be proud of such domestic cinema, screenwriters, directors? Are all people as ignorant as they have been shown? Is everyone so negligent about their duties? Leaders are stupid and clumsy, and performers are lazy and deranged? And everything rusted and rotted and broke. And the people are all blue, puffy, hungover and undying, gray noses and hoarse voices, the elderly are mad, rude and hysterical. Wives cheat, husbands forget about children, and men are petty, petty and hysterical. I don't understand why it's so necessary to show one side over and over again and not show the other side. Or hopeless blue, or major-managerial unrestrained fun.
And finally, it is a shame that such a good idea as a disaster in the subway, so banal and mediocre ruined, replacing cheap tear melodrama. The subway is not just a black bottomless cloaca. This is a huge, complex technical and architectural organism, the work in which in the period of extreme danger is interesting and exciting in itself. And it is not clear why the disaster itself, the work of technicians and rescuers, goes in pieces and snatches, dotted background to the vulgar and banal affair of a walking aunt, lost in her insignificant men? In the end, the whole pseudo-drama scored a plot that could be really interesting and really exciting.
Do you know the popular idea that everything in the world is relative? She's the perfect fit here. Regarding Hollywood films in the genre of “catastrophe”, the film is very good. Strong, interesting. Keeps in suspense, makes you empathize with the heroes, has a wonderful soundtrack, a beautiful picture and special effects. Not every movie that comes out these days can boast of that. Therefore, if we put next to the “Metro” movies like “The Day After Tomorrow” and assume that it is not produced here, but in the United States, then you can put a strong 7 out of 10.
And now we look at this creation as it is. This is our movie. And it turned out not only good, but magnificent. Even the Night and Day Watch are inferior to the Metro. Our cinema has not produced anything like this. Operator work at the height, the actors are perfectly selected, special effects, atmosphere, really chic soundtracks. This movie has absolutely everything! It’s nice to finally get to the level of Hollywood blockbusters. At the same time, to the level of quality Hollywood blockbusters.
To be clear, I am an ardent hater of blockbusters, where the emphasis is on special effects. But I loved the movie. 2 cents of hours spent with great pleasure. Interesting fact - the film has quite typical Hollywood plot twists, tragic episodes, jokes, predictable actions of the characters. But here it is not perceived with the thought "We have seen a hundred times, it is predictable!". The most pleasant impression left the soundtrack. No one will be left indifferent.
It makes no sense to talk about this film for long. Just watch it and enjoy it! He's great! We see the real behavior of people in critical situations. We see different people who were on their own business and even during an emergency situation were confident that soon everything will return to normal, so you need to steal money and mobile phones from the victims, keep their portfolios with working documents. We can clearly see how such disasters occur from the relatives and friends of the victims. We see how journalists care only about high-quality material for TV. We see how people change when they are in an emergency.
Maybe in terms of special effects and pathos, we still lag behind Hollywood, but everything else in Metro turned out better than any Western blockbuster.
The best Russian disaster film in history and just a wonderful product

Teddy bear. Well, of course, don't be afraid when you run away from a subway car in a water-filled tunnel! Yeah, not the Titanic. People decided not to leave ... What do you do when it floods?
The film leaves rather contradictory feelings. No, you know, panic, it's scary, but some people are acting really wild. Especially those waiting outside. It's not clear yet who's the dad? As always, everyone survives falling down stairs, breathing underwater. Pity Gal ( Elena Panova), not pity Vlad ( Anatoly White). It is very annoying to find out who slept with whom at a time when everyone is in danger of death. And, of course, rescuers come at the right moment, everything happens at the last second. It is not a miracle of life.
Very well selected actors: no self-admiration. Please Alexey Bardukov and Ivan Makarevich. In fact, for them, I decided to watch this movie. Especially the last one: his style.
There's nowhere to cry in the movie. Very dynamic, special effects just right. I like how the capital goes under water. It's a lot of nonsense. How could a subway car get stuck in the aisle? But these are details.
It's all good and meaningful. Moral of this fable: don't take the subway! Or better yet, don’t go to Moscow! And Moscow! There are too many problems! =)
How many complain that our cinema leaves much to be desired. I don't know what you want, but now he really makes me happy. There are few such films, but still their creators are respected.
And this picture surprised me and really liked, I did not expect this. Even Hollywood rarely manages to make a disaster film so human. The picture is dynamic, but somehow everything in it is competent, so that there are moments that affect the soul and are remembered most of all. Like the scene of Michael's death. Music plays a huge role for me personally, it makes me empathize, keep my fists, still feeling hopeless.
How empty is the soul without mirages, without magic.
We are only here for a moment, let it sound like words of prayer!
The train stopped and the incoming water washed away people’s status and position. This is just an illusion in our lives. Here everyone became equal before the elements, each behaved differently in the face of death and it became clear that who is more important - someone else's wallet, their own life or the life of a loved one.
Even though it’s a disaster movie, the director gives us moments of rest and freedom, and rightly so. Here heroes do not die just to beat the viewer's nerves. In the film, this is not the main thing, but only what a person can be a minute from death. How brave a loser can be and how vile a successful businessman can be. Here life itself, or rather death breathing in the back, places people in the places they actually occupy. And the heroes themselves finally understand what they live for and what they cherish.
As for the component of any disaster, namely fear, death, pain, and so on, everything is at par. Not so scary and painful to look at the screen, but still not bad. And even a thriller, in my opinion, would be superfluous here. I will note that it is scary for many people, including me – the darkness and flooded enclosed space, but I was not afraid. Perhaps this is the only drawback, and it would be a lot intimidating if the action took place only in the subway tunnel itself, and the viewer did not know what was happening upstairs and whether there was hope for salvation. But it would be a different picture, and a completely different impression of it. And what I liked most about Metro was the people – the heroes and their relationships, so the disaster took a back seat.
Exposing human characters, showing the ruthlessness of chance and death, this film leaves a good impression, putting everything in place. Great music, good camera work and acting – all this is important, so while watching all the attention is focused only on the film. And I can't help but mention the ending -- I don't know how, but I'm glad it ended that way. I rarely cry when watching a movie, but I was moved. Thank you for getting them off the subway!
"Ours"? Good shot? A movie? And a disaster movie? I had similar thoughts in my head before watching. Thoughts that the domestic cinema decided on a kind of remake of Western films. "2012" with a similar plot, "Flood" with Robert Carlyle, etc. I did not leave the feeling, the analogy with the story about the student and the teacher. And how pleasant it is to realize that this “student” has indeed surpassed the “teacher.” Everything is in order.
It is an ordinary, everyday introduction. How to explain to all of us how the main characters of the picture were on that ill-fated morning in the subway. Not without a love triangle. I am glad that the first 20 minutes do not seem lulling, but rather the opposite - only stir up interest in further viewing. Here I want to mention the wonderfully played Sergei Sosnovsky, although his role is limited to just a few minutes. Sergeich seems to be a very real person, not a hero from the film.
Further developments make you forget about popcorn and everything else. The events of the disaster unfold logically, the episodes are consistent, everything is quite gloomy, atmospheric, realistic - no one breaks the wall with their feet and does not stop the cars on the move, the main characters are trying to escape and, despite everything, they will only be able to do this by helping each other. Some stereotypical characters played great, combined with the Russian character, everything looks very plausible. Excellent symbiosis of Russian color and Western action.
And the happy ending here or not - do not understand, for everyone the feeling is different, but one thing is for sure - at the end of the tape you think. The movie makes you think. About death and life, hate and love. And the fact that the Russian “maybe” does not always work.
Actors play. Bravo, amazing! Everyone played at a high level, I cannot help but highlight Sergei Puskepalis - I was very pleasantly surprised by his excellent performance. Katerina Spitz is ideal for the role of a young student. Spectacular, beautiful girl, which at first sight fall in love; glad that not overplayed, very natural and emotional. Well, Elena Panova is not her typical role, but how great it was played! Once again I am convinced that she is one of the best Russian actresses.
The script of the film, although uncomplicated, but everything is played very colorfully and realistically - what is needed for a disaster film. A low bow to the entire crew.
Over the soundtrack, the creators have seriously worked – the music is great, everything is in place. Not always even noticeable - so well selected for this episode. And, of course, a separate "thank you" Bi-2 and their "Prayer", under such a composition you can watch not only the last frames of the tape, but also with pleasure to watch the credits, realizing that two hours of your time was not spent in vain.
I take the score for a couple of inconsistencies along the way. But in general, bravo. A stunning tape showing that domestic cinema can respond to the West with its powerful, dynamic, sweeping and atmospheric creation.

Films – catastrophes for our modern cinema are not peculiar. Our directors specialize more in low-grade comedies, which have already risen across the throat.
Anton Megerdichev was not going to watch Metro, but a large number of positive reviews aroused my interest in this film. I looked at ...
And I was pleasantly surprised. I liked the movie. I do not dare to compare with Hollywood, but for our cinema - it turned out to be a fairly high-quality, holistic work.
By chance, the husband, daughter and lover of the main character are in the same subway train, and it is with this train that a tragedy happens - the subway is flooded with sewage and the train is half in the water.
The film has everything that is inherent in disaster films: 1) the tragedy of the personal life of the protagonist; 2) the hero who foresees the tragedy, but no one listened to him; 3) numerous victims; 4) panic, tears, screams, etc.
Of the actors, only Svetlana Khodchenkova was not impressed with her play - she overplayed in places, but this did not spoil the overall picture.
I recommend the movie to everyone, everyone, everyone. This film became a beacon of hope that our modern cinema slowly began to crawl out of the puddle where it was driven.

- Sasha Bely’s son became an assistant engineer?
(Cheers from the audience)
Another attempt by Russian filmmakers to film a spectacular catastrophe according to all the canons and standards of American filmmaking. The promotion campaign was carried out quite qualitatively, as evidenced by the millions of expectations of this picture in cinemas of the country, but what happened in the end, try to understand below.
I will say right away that the film turned out not bad, but at the same time disposable. Personally, I am unlikely to review it, because, despite its advantages, there are also enough disadvantages. And in general, in the process of watching, I did not leave the feeling that I was watching not a Russian film, but another creation of Hollywood, and in this case it is not always a compliment.
Well, let's start with the pros. In my opinion, the positive aspects can be attributed to literally all the episodes associated with the train crash, with heeling cars and tons of water flying at breakneck speed through the tunnel. Screen time these episodes take a little, but filmed all this at a very decent level. The same can be said about episodes where the terrible power of panicking crowds is shown, when people run headlong over each other’s bodies. It's a really scary and destructive force and in those moments I was happy to be sitting at home in my favorite chair. It's realistic. Well, plus another find, which can only be called a find conditionally, when the heroine Khodchenkova, watching the emergency report of TV news, suddenly understands why all this time can not reach her husband and daughter. And when she finds out that the girl never came to school, everything becomes clear to her, and here she begins to scream hysterically and faint, and at the same time we are shown footage of a TV report with wounded people, lost children and general panic outside the subway building. This scene worked quite hard on me, well done.
These advantages can be safely attributed to the spectacular component of this film. But there are also good acting work and, above all, this is Sergey Puskepalis in the role of Garin. I really like the image that this actor put on the screen. Garin is a simple man, but at the same time calm and reliable as a tank. When all this porridge in the subway started and Garin finally found his daughter among the pile of bodies, she asked him a completely childish and naive question in such a situation. “Dad, am I not going to school today?” My dad said we’ll see. That says it all. His profession as a doctor taught Garin to maintain self-control in absolutely any situation, but at the same time he feels a reliable shoulder and determination to save not only his daughter, but everyone who succeeds. This is a Russian man, and it was played very truthfully.
Anatoly Bely as the lover of Garin’s wife looked good too. A kind of businessman who used to drive expensive cars and drive women to luxury restaurants. For him, recapturing Garin's wife is not a problem at all, where the district hospital doctor is to the level of a successful businessman. However, by chance, namely due to a huge traffic jam on the road, he, being late for an important deal, decides to go to the subway, which he will regret more than once. Thus, Garin is forced to save people in the company of a man who fucks his wife and calls his daughter “princess”. It is clear that the situation between them sooner or later would heat up to the limit, and the unfaithful wife will eventually have to make quite an obvious choice. It is also a good role for Anatoly Bely.
For Khodchenkova, the whole role boils down to first wanting a divorce, then learning about what happened, playing back the state of a mother and wife who lost the last hope that her daughter and her husband would survive, and finally asking her husband for forgiveness and trying to get the family back. One of these scenes with her participation I described above, and in general the task is not easy, the whole role is built on emotions. But, as for me, this actress did not succeed in everything.
Other roles were less memorable, except that I liked a character named Mikhail played by Stanislav Duzhnikov. A kind of good man, which is simply necessary by the laws of the genre, since someone will still have to die. Otherwise, it's a disaster. He was a very charming man.
Now on the downsides. Well, first of all, it's the pattern of the script. I always thought I’d seen it somewhere. Judge for yourself. The company of the main characters is almost one in one slime with “2012” Emmerich. There, Cusack will save his children and his wife in the company of a man who at that time was the stepfather of his children. Here, Garin saves his daughter in company with his wife's lover. Even the little dog that everyone wants to risk their lives for was there and there. Then I remembered the British film Flood with Carlisle, where the main river of London Thames floods the whole city, including the subway tunnels. And even the scene where Garin, along with Konstantinov, who hates him for objective reasons (this is the name of the lover of Garin’s wife), dive under the water in search of the missing daughter, reminded me of one of the episodes of Poseidon, where the hero of Josh Lucas also dived in attempts to find the son of a lady. In general, legs grow from everywhere. Someone will say that this is the genre of the picture and there is no need to reinvent the wheel here. That’s right, but I personally didn’t have enough.
The second disadvantage is the length of the picture. Twenty minutes at least could be made shorter. I wanted to move a little forward. This is especially true for almost half of the scenes related to the actions of the authorities, journalists and even a mother who is always crying. There were a lot of them. But again, that's purely my opinion.
What's the result? In any case, against the background of any garbage that is produced both in Russia and abroad, this movie is quite decently made. For filming, a completely independent tunnel with a length of 117 meters was built, and subway cars were used in the film the most that neither is real. So there are no questions, guys tried. But like I said, a one-time movie. On the second run I will not have the strength or desire to appear, there are films and stronger.
Just a few days ago, a new Russian program was presented on SFF, which included this film. I had been looking at it for a long time, but I was hesitant to watch it, because I doubted that Russia could make a smart disaster film. And against the background of the Spanish drama "Impossible" at "Metro" there is no chance. No, I was wrong. There are still chances.
Well, I'll start with the spectacle. It was a pleasure. Directing is good. The effects are spectacular. In terms of pictures, I have no complaints at all. A really good disaster movie. And you know what got me the most? That the director conveyed the atmosphere of our subway. Yes, dear ones, sad, but a fact. These angry passengers who are rude to each other, running over other people’s heads, stealing even in such a situation – this is a reality, no matter what. Every man for himself. After Impossible, where everyone tried to help each other, it was not very pleasant to see that even such grief can not bring people closer, that they still remain indifferent to others, worry about material values. This is terrible!
But fortunately, there are other people. Such as Denis, who did not abandon the girl he met just a few hours ago, ready to risk his life for her. That's what you really care about. Alexey Bardukov played very well. Perhaps this line is much more interesting than a love triangle, which in such a situation seems a little ridiculous. But I liked Svetlana Khodchenkova. She is one of the few Russian actresses I like. I played well, emotionally, although the character itself causes censure. Of the episodic roles, I liked Alexander Yakovlev, who played the driver of the 17th train.
Now I'll add a spoonful of tar. After all, some actors overplayed places. Baby Anfisa Wistinghausen can be forgiven for false intonations, because she is only 14 years old. Although this is not her first film. Anatolia White's monologue was also extremely unconvincing. But the image suits him, so he still liked it more than not. But Tick completely past the cash register. But against the background of other Russian premieres, this film compares favorably. By the way, the soundtrack is amazing. I'm surprised, so I'm so excited.
In Russian cinema, I was disappointed for a long time (in Russia, only comedies are well shot, well, they learned this back in Soviet times). Especially when our directors try to make a Hollywood movie, it turns out terrible stuff, sometimes ridiculously funny. A lot of inept special effects, a huge budget, a large advertising campaign and ... as a result, a lot of unsatisfied responses.
Given that Metro is a disaster movie, I expected to be disappointed, as always. So I kept postponing the viewing. I wanted to, and I was afraid.
But I have to give it credit. The movie was amazing. Viewed the list of working on the film, all their relatives, Russians Which surprised and delighted me. Isn’t this the case – have we already learned how to make a good movie? The movie looks in one breath.
While watching the movie, you sympathize with all the characters, whoever they are. Businessman, father and daughter, couple in love, athlete, mother and wife in one person.
Speaking of mother. Excellent played the role of the mother of the supporting actress, who asked to save her child during the stampede on the platform. From the phrase “Child, take a child!”, just a lump in the throat.
Businessman Konstantinov, played by Anatoly Bely, causes hatred or rather contempt. A real businessman who, as it turned out at the end of the film, doesn't love anyone. For him, even in the tunnel, all that matters is money and nothing else. At some point, he seems like a normal person.
You understand how hard it is for Andrei Garin, the hero of Puskepalis. He truly loves his wife. And in order for her to be happy, for the girl to have a mother, ready to tolerate her lover. The moment he breaks down on Konstantinov is the moment he realizes that he just used his wife as a sexual object, but he doesn’t like her.
Irina Andrey’s wife, as her heroine should, is ambiguous and causes mixed feelings. She's a traitor, she's a mother, she's a wife. She's a woman with three close people in the tunnel. In the morning she had everything, and now she can be alone in this world. She doesn't call her lover, she calls her husband, her daughter. No matter how bad and traitor she was, at a critical moment Irina remembers exactly about the person with whom she lived for many years and about her child.
He's been amazing playing Buddies. He's so clumsy and ridiculous, he's been sympathetic from the start, with all his looks. So I want to shout to him in the frame: “Don’t slow down, save yourself!” honestly, to confess, I didn’t even think that Stanislav could play like that. His character is perhaps the most emotional in this film. We saw him shy at the beginning of the film, in pain when his arm was broken, confused, joyful, ready to help and finally afraid. Misha says, “I don’t have an instinct for self-preservation.” No, there's an instinct, but he turned out to be a terrible alarmist. We see this first and then when he became a pillar and could not bring himself to flee with all. In general, we can say that in the film he showed all the emotions that his hero could be capable of. Awesome game!
Almost all the actors showed the feelings that should have been in this situation.
But... Vladimir Sterzhakov, who played Major Burov, was not particularly impressed with his game. Apparently, he is a very good person in life, his heroes even when, according to the plan of the bastards, some good bastards turn out. But in the movie Metro Boerov turned out to be some soft-bodied boss. Although maybe they are in life ... but, in my opinion, in such a critical situation, he was somehow too amoebic.
Whatever anyone said, the movie was great. This is a film about a disaster that is possible in Russia. And the stampede in the meters of the moment of panic, and officials, always ignorant and do not want to know when others try to convey information to them. And the cynicism of journalists. Everything is shown as it is in our lives every day.
P.S. The film is so realistic that the morning after the night viewing, listening to the news on the radio, I thought, what about the subway? And only then I remembered that it was, thank God, a beautifully shot movie.
P.S.S. Hollywood wouldn't make a movie like that. They, along with the water, would have monsters, such as piranhas or sharks), and the main characters would show us not human feelings, but another fictional monster.
I'm absolutely delighted with the movie!! This is one of the best modern Russian films. The whole film was sitting and shaking and worried about the main characters. Emotions were high! The film is really made at the highest level! Disaster and demonstration stampede, panic in the subway transmitted 100%. This component of the film just presses into the chair and makes you even sometimes duck into the pillow, (for the good of the house it was watched) is very naturalistic and frightening. Well done!! Sometimes I forget that I am watching a Russian movie. First of all, I wanted to note that this film is not about some distant catastrophe, in America there or in how the sea covers the whole earth, but about the place where we all go every day - the subway. To be honest, the first time after watching, I was afraid to ride the subway. By the way, it is also great that the topic is fresh, not beaten, quite a few such films.
I would also like to pay attention to the soundtrack. Very well selected, create the right atmosphere! Especially the latest B2 song. I really liked
In matters of camera or graphics, I have no complaints, for me everything that happens on the screen was natural and true.
Along the main plot line, i.e. “love triangle”. I really liked the development of relations between Denis (the hero of Alexei Bardukov) and Alice (Katherina Spice). Who knows, if it wasn’t for the disaster, they probably wouldn’t have met. Alice doesn't even meet on the subway. I believe that he and she played well and fully conveyed the atmosphere of danger, fear and even romance for their lives and each other.
Just watch. I hope you don’t waste 2 hours of your life, this movie is worth it. This is one of the best I've seen lately. Atmosphericity and realism - that's what makes "Metro".

What inspired me to write this message to the masses? And it prompted me to this completely incomprehensible to me the reaction of Russian film critics to the picture of Anton Megerdichev “Metro”.
I am not surprised by the admiring bursts of hands of the broad masses of the audience, because of the extreme cultural poverty of our state.
I am not a film critic and I am not going to criticize anyone. Am I the only one who had a terrible impression after watching this movie? This is a terrible impression, akin to shame for such “miscarriages” of Russian television as “Closed School” and another million and one endless TV series.
In order to understand my point of view, I will explain even more deeply by what main criteria I evaluate the film.
1. Director.
2. The cast.
Say little? These two criteria were enough to give me an impression of the film.
What is this, excuse me, about the cast? Glorious “highly sought-after” actors of the series decided to take part in the creation of a “masterpiece” in between the filming of soap operas? The quality of the special effects leaves much to be desired, in some moments water is similar to crumbled mercury. Here you can object to me at once with one argument, on both my claims - the budget is only 9 million.
Yes, indeed 9 million. And for this 9 million filmed absolutely not worthy of respect. The script is so predictable and dragged that in some moments there is a desire to simply skip some time of viewing, so as not to blush for the creators of the picture.
Do you want a really good picture of Russian cinema? Please "The Edge" by Alexei Teacher. And the budget is only a few million more. A perfectly justified question arises: since the difference in the budgets of the two films is not so great, then why do we have completely different products on the “exhaust”? The answer is obvious: in one of the paintings, the bet is made on dubious special effects and an old topic, and in the second, a decent cast is selected and the script is perfectly written. That's it. It would seem. But you just look at the brilliant play of Vladimir Mashkov and compare it with all the places taken by the children’s games of the cast of the film “Metro” from a poor woman punished for her own sins and ending with a high-ranking metro official who experiences the whole picture “sincerely” and at the end after drinking a stopper lets go of a joke.
All this gives so much pharisaism and cheapness that it becomes disgusting. I am ashamed of the thought that this picture can be seen abroad, and right at these moments I am ready to fall through the earth. It will be all about Russian cinema.
Some tragic moments are filmed with such amateurishness and frank lack of professionalism that make you laugh sincerely. I have counted 2 such moments.
In conclusion, I would like to add that this film can be put on a par with such films as “Trees” “Mothers”, “The Best Film” and the like. Such one-day films, butterflies films are a tool for collecting "babla".
How come, gentlemen of film critics? This is art!
One should not be surprised in our time without culture and immorality, and the masses need no more. I am proud that I do not belong to them.
And then only for those moments when I laughed I put the film.

The painting "Metro 2012". After that, it became frightening to use the subway.
I recently watched the movie Metro 2012. I would like to say in advance that I do not like disaster films, because I did not expect anything good from this film, but from the first minutes of watching, I began to immerse myself in the atmosphere of the picture.
It is worth noting that the “apocalypse” in the Moscow metro was filmed very qualitatively, with regard to special effects, the work of operators, editing specialists, computer graphics, music – everything is at a very good level. It is clear that the production of this picture was taken seriously.
It is worth noting that in this picture not only good special effects, but also "smells" the presence of a good acting, but this statement is not applicable to all actors. Sergey Puskepalis’s play at the very beginning, where he was looking for his daughter among a huge number of corpses and was afraid to learn the terrible, made me cry. More of the actors will not reward anyone with praise, but instead I will award Ivan Makarevich the Golden Raspberry: the play of this young man in any film did not catch me, therefore, in this too. I also didn’t like the duet: a girl with asthma and a guy who almost lost his legs. Of course, this is not Makarevich, the guys at least know how to play, but perhaps the director did not pay them due attention when shooting the picture, perhaps other reasons, but he does not always believe them, but more precisely, once again.
Let’s finish with the sad, the picture reveals the inner life of the subway, shows how the work of specialists in the subway is going, how the staff of the subway is concerned for the safety of people and what people are ungrateful and stupid, they save lives, and they swear, spit and do not appreciate it. It is also perfectly shown what people become covered by panic, the principles: everyone for himself, a person to a wolf, work in most cases, only a few preserve the true face of a person.
Evaluation of the film in quantitative terms:
Scenario - 7
Operating work - 9
Installation and special effects - 9
Acting game - 6
Music - 7
(P.S.) Look, this is a very interesting product. After this movie, I was a little scared to ride the subway.

The fact that most of our compatriots have not yet learned how to make high-quality films is a well-known fact. It was added that our directors do not know how to make disaster films. The first pancake, as they say, is a lump, and to chide the director of the film "Metro" there is something for that.
Most of all, I was disappointed by the actors who played the main roles. The only ones I believed were Anatoly Bely and Elena Panov. Half believed and Stanislav Druzhnikov, because I saw the true fear in his eyes, when he ran through the tunnel, and behind carried a train car. It was so horrible to play the role of an unfaithful wife, in my opinion, no one could succeed. Absolutely did not show the character of the heroine and those features that in fact should distinguish her from the rest. A thousand times better than her was played by a woman with a child, who was in the general group of surviving passengers, although her role was equally small.
As for the other heroes of the film, there are no less claims. The 17th train scene just killed me. The driver left his cabin and goes in the opposite direction, and then the cars throw back and forth and the train periodically stops abruptly. Your reaction? I would panic, or at least I would be scared. What people who are on this train do: they begin to cover the driver with all kind and unkind words, boiling with indignation and indignation. Maybe I don’t understand, but is this how ordinary people should react in such a situation? And the phrase of the boy, who in a calm tone asks his mother: “Mom, will we die?” finished this scene with its idiocy. There are so many absurdities in the film.
Why is the movie so popular? Our viewer for a very long time did not eat qualitatively shot and conscientiously executed paintings. It’s more or less like a movie like that. Only for this, the viewer is ready to clap his hands and shout “Bravo!” to the director. And you yourself try for a long time not to eat your favorite fruit, and then after 2-3 years to try, for example, not ripe melon. Of course, you will not so much appreciate its taste as the fact that you just ate a whole melon!
When the film was released, I watched whose creation it was and realized that I would not go to the movies, because Russian films have never inspired me. And then there is the genre of such a disaster film. It would be a parody of American horror movies or something like that. But sitting in the evening and bored, two months after the premiere, I decided to witness this miracle at home, on the computer. I was pleasantly surprised by the film. Finally, the Russians made something worthwhile (except for war movies and some comedies, you really don’t want to watch anything).
Let me start with the actors. Puskepalis-plays the main character Garina. At first we see him as a little quieter. His wife cheats on him, his daughter is rude, even when he goes in the subway car, looks at his reflection and sees the inscription “loch”. Obviously, I watched him with emotion. And the scene where he at the end releases his emotions to freedom I was really pleased.
White (wife's lover) also plays convincingly. In the end, I felt sorry for him, in the end, I made a great contribution to saving people. Sad.
The heroine Svetlana Khodchenkova infuriated me with her stupidity. And the astrica itself played, in my opinion, bad. According to her experiences, there is a feeling that her dog has died, or that people close to her are in some sense buried under a layer of earth and water interspersed.
The girl Ksyusha also played poorly. The face of the whole film, like the heroine Kristen Stewart (our beloved Bella) – not a single emotion. Near the sea of dead people, and she did not even shed tears.
Delighted romance in the film. Denis (hero Alexei Bardukov) - a real man, I think. Despite his boyhood, he bravely tries to help the girl Alice, whom he first saw 10 minutes ago and immediately fell in love. And who knows, if not for the disaster, she hardly ever noticed it. She doesn't meet on the subway. And he and she played well and fully conveyed the atmosphere of romance, danger and fear for their lives and each other.
Now for special effects. It will be better than some American movies. The atmosphere of danger and devastation, death and fear is present throughout the film and conveys the feeling that you are there. The moment of the train crash showed the best. Slow-motion and episodes of slow-flying objects and people are still with me.
The B2 soundtrack is great! Adds even more empathy, sympathy for the characters, and in general to the situation.
In general, the film revealed what people are like when they have to stick together, and not like a herd to run who is to escape. And it is clear that the damage to the disaster would have been less if the services of the Moscow metro were more attentive! So, no, we'll laugh and forget, and then we'll take the victims away in cars. The laxity of the train driver, of course, also makes you think about real life, where probably the same thing happens.

Minus 3 points for the game of Khodchenkova, the game of Anfisa Vistinghausen (Ksushi) and for stupid jokes of actors off topic (I don’t think that in a typical situation, a person will have thoughts in his mind “how to pour a sparkling joke”)
That's how Russia is!
The film “Metro” kept me in suspense for almost the entire viewing, not letting me get bored, literally, not for a minute. Intrigue throughout the film - this, at times, is lacking in domestic films these days. I can safely put it in the category of “Horrors”, as my personal fears were clearly touched on in the plot – the subway, which is associated in real life with something dark, scary, unknown and unclean. Personal phobia, so to speak. And how many recently there have been criminal cases in our subway, from which goosebumps on the body – I do not want to remember. Indeed, quite a relevant thing touched the screenwriters of the film, as the main plot.
And among other things, the personal "Santa Barbara" develops: her husband, lover, the main character, as if confused herself, does not understand what to do, how to do. So, in fact, this same husband and son and lover found themselves at the most inopportune moment in the same car of the capital’s subway, where, during an accident, just the logical denouement of this intricate love story occurred. At the moment of the disaster, when both the husband and the lover were in trouble, the main character realized who is really dear to her - this is her husband. All the cards were revealed - the lover, who turned out to be a real villain, himself preferred to disappear from the life of the main character - unexpectedly for me, he turned out to be a bad person.
Well, the most touching moment in the film for me was the moment of saving the child and husband of the main character, when she, having already lost all hope that they are alive, turns around and desperately goes in the opposite direction, but, calling her out, the son runs after her and hugs her mother. After being rescued from the “kabkan” of the Moscow metro, everything fell into place, only her husband, now, feels a slight disgust for his wife.
That’s life – sometimes the most insoluble, in your opinion, problems can be solved by some sudden life situation that is beyond your control. And about some people you will not be able to know something exactly until you face a real disaster, that’s the conclusion: almost everything is known in trouble.
The film stands out positively among most Russian films shot recently.
The book that served as the basis for the film, I did not read, it is for the best – by will you will begin to compare, and this is an ungrateful business. Thus, my “waiting circle” from the film was limited to the statements of the trailer, a few responses from friends and a desire for a truly large-scale man-made disaster. And I got in the end only the consequences of adultery against the background of outdated special effects.
Satisfied battered family drama, which is clear how it ends, unfolds in an apocalypse of extremely small scale. And here it remained completely unclear to me, what is the leitmotif? Super-task? Scare me with a man-made disaster? Or do you threaten to punish people for their sins?
I would bring to the fore the problems of cities with millions, the mechanisms of their existence. Such cities suffocate, hunch and eventually burst - the old ridge is not capable of new buildings. What is the public reaction? We have already seen all this – the thirst for “hot” reporting, profiting from someone else’s grief and the semi-noble aspirations of the authorities to follow the path of lesser evil. The creators could not offer more. The disaster turns out to be just a small shake-up without much consequence, and at one point it seemed to me that it was just a way out of a love triangle.
The acting is also unconvincing - I did not feel sympathy for the heroes.
Predictable was the color of the film – dirty green shades, grayness and dampness in everything, although in another color the film is difficult to imagine. In addition to the plot template, there are small, also very expected, things - for example, a family photo of a person who died in the fight for the life of a character floating in dirty water.
As a result, instead of focusing on the actual man-made disaster and on a rather “fresh” plot, the creators brought to the fore a boring and predictable love theme. It's a pity, but it could be a frightening film to edify humanity.
Last night at dinner, I let my sister talk me into watching this movie. I don't think he would. However, I do not regret the time spent. Cinema, as they say, from the series “to chew”, under beer with nuts.
Of the good I would note this: 1) the very idea (it is interesting to think about whether this is actually possible and how quickly then will work different kinds of services) 2) special effects.
From the bad: 1) the absolutely unsympathetic heroine Khodchenkova 2) a bad example of American borrowing, when in the most stalemate situations the characters throw humorous phrases to show their own coolness and courage - looked very cardboard here in places.
I did not succeed in empathizing with the characters very much (and I am in principle a very emotional and even sentimental person), except for the deceived husband-doctor.
And this movie, of course, has its audience, otherwise they would not be filmed.

Life is just a moment... Today it is, and tomorrow it is not.
To be honest, I did not expect anything deep and fascinating from this picture. Thanks to the Russian cinema, it was a pleasant surprise.
I would like to pay special attention to the story itself. For me personally, the very fact of the disaster remained in the background. Once in the epicenter came a triangle and took possession of me throughout the film. Admittedly, for a long time I could not understand what motivated Irina to cheat on her husband for a year. Especially considering the fact that we have the image of an exemplary family man. In the end, something more or less began to clear up, although, in my opinion, this is not the reason for such a large-scale betrayal.
I really liked the drawing of each acting character throughout the picture. The actors are selected as best as possible, and the girl Alice, for realistically played asthma attacks, a separate bow. We, ordinary people who have nothing to do with acting, do not even realize how hard and difficult it is to force ourselves to breathe or cough.
In the process of watching, you realize that everything in this life happens for a reason. If it were not for Vlad, who knows, the child would have survived, and all of them. In fact, he saved Andrew’s life and, in my opinion, fully atoned for his sins. Irina, I think, having arrived all this time in ignorance, also suffered a lot, but for some reason I do not feel sorry for her. The ending is concise and logical.
Now about the atmosphere, entourage and special effects.
The effect of Slo-mo at the moment of derailment of the train: broken glass, flying bodies, pens, phones are very impressive. I liked it. Then everything was much more primitive, but, to be honest, it does not matter, in any case, the wrong format of the film and the emphasis is not on the disaster itself, so everything is quite watchable.
A few words about the atmosphere. Man, I didn't expect to be so nervous. It seems that everything is predictable and clear in front and all the same, attention is riveted to the screen, and you think to yourself, “Come on, come on, run” or “Yes, you idiots turn around.”
In short, I did not expect anything like this from this picture. Yes, of course, she is not drawn to the Oscars and Hollywood to her wow, but nevertheless, the film turned out to be good. Not much, so, quite a little, in places, delayed, sometimes there was a lack of emotions, in one situation or another, and so quite nothing. For Russia.
I am glad that Russia is slowly learning to make an interesting, spectacular film. .
Yesterday I watched the movie Metro (I didn’t read the book, I wasn’t told much), but the movie was pleasantly surprised. Special effects are really not bad for Russian cinema, even in the script and production there are no special claims. This is fantastic and all that.
But what I did not like is that this film is exclusively for distribution in Russia, that is, it can not really be shown in the world and especially in Europe, since there is a lot of stereotypical shit about Russia, well, as always, drunkenness, treason, government officials and all that. Well, it is clear that all this is true, but in the movie you want to see something positive, this shit and life is enough. There's also a lot of Hollywood effects, like a guy diving for half an hour. Everyone cries, thinks he died, shows how he runs out of air, and then after another 5 minutes he emerges. In short, in many ways very predictable and the impression that the film “Daylight” with Stalone only without Stalone, the result is not bad for the beginning.
I am glad that Russia is slowly learning to make an interesting, spectacular movie with a strong script and production!
In America, police officers are fat doughnuts and corrupt officials, and in the movies there are slim special agents capable of defusing a bomb by cutting off all 1 wire, usually red.
In general, it is not bad to make a discount on the fact that the film is Russian. In any case, it is not annoying, maybe the 2nd or 3rd time I would not watch, but 1 time is quite decent.

P.S. The film was shot in the Samara metro, as the Moscow filmmakers refused. Initially, they wanted to shoot in the Minsk metro, but when an explosion occurred at the Oktyabrskaya station, this idea was abandoned.
