Leonid Bykov was born on December 12, 1928 in Ukraine - in the village of Znamenskoye, Donetsk region. He spent his childhood dreaming of aviation. He tried to go to flight school twice as an adult, but failed. Then the young Leonid decided to become an artist – he did not pass to the Kiev acting school, but the Kharkiv Theatre Institute finished and began his creative career at the Shevchenko Kharkiv Theatre.
His first role was in the film The Fate of Marina in 1952. The film was a success, and then followed by participation in films.
"Tiger Tamer" and
"Maxim Perepelica" . Leonid Bykov loved the audience in the image of Bogatyrev -
"Dear man" Akishina - "Volunteers", Aleshki -
"Aleshkina Love" Garkushi -
"On the Seven Winds" . It was the period 1958-1962.
Leonid Bykov then moved to Leningrad and “tried his luck” in filmmaking, but not quite successfully. A stagnant stage in creativity began - there were no good roles on Lenfilm, money for shooting was not given. Moving to Kiev followed soon, but there were no changes for the better at Dovzhenko’s studio.
Star Hour came in 1972 - directorial work
"Only old men go into battle." The script, which Leonid Bykov wrote himself, and also played the main role, became one of the best films about the war. Luck came again in a short time - the 1977 film premiere "Aty-Baty, the soldiers walked" confirmed his directorial and acting talent. Corporal Svyatkin in the performance of Bykov won the hearts of fans of the artist.
Leonid Bykov decided to change his role after two successful films about the war and in 1978 began shooting a fantastic picture “Alien”, but, alas, fate ordered otherwise. A car accident suddenly ended the life of this talented man – the tragedy occurred near Kiev on April 11, 1979. /
