Danny Huston was born on May 14, 1962 in Rome. During this time, his father was filming the film Freud: The Secret Passion. The parents lived in a civil marriage, and in addition to Danny, they also had children Angelica and Tony, who later also became actors. Danny Houston is not just the son of a famous Hollywood director, he belongs to a great acting dynasty, in which three generations were Oscar winners.
Denny spent his childhood in Ireland, he studied at Somerset School and at the age of seven tried to make his own film. However, this fun quickly bored the boy, and he became interested in painting.
After graduation, he returned to the film industry. The name Houston easily opened any doors in front of him, and Danny decided to try his hand at directing.
In 1985, he made his first documentary, Santa Claus: The Making of the Movie. Two years later, the action adventure "Snowman" and the fantasy drama "The Ghost of Mr. Corbett" come out.
In 1988, Houston shot the comedy “Mr. North” with Lauren Bacall and Anthony Edwards in the lead roles; in 1991 – the drama “Finding Yourself”, and in 1995 – the thriller “Mad Man”, where the main role was played by Burt Reynolds. This film was Houston's last directing effort.
The acting profession attracted him more and more. In 1995, Danny Houston played a cameo role in Mike Figgis's Leaving Las Vegas melodrama with Nicholas Cage and Elizabeth Shue.
In 1997, he worked with director Bernard Rose in the film adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina, as well as Mike Figgis in the drama Time Code and the comedy Hotel. In 1998, the crime comedy Susan’s Insidious Plan was released, where the actor starred with Nastasya Kinsky, Billy Zane and Michael Bain.
In 2000, Bernard Rose again turned to the film adaptation of Tolstoy, this time the story “The Death of Ivan Ilyich” and again invites Denny to the main role.
In 2003, Houston played the role of Ivan Beckman in Ivansxtc. The film was nominated in several categories - Independent Spirit Award, including Danny Houston as "Best Actor".
In the early 2000s, the films Paradise, the drama Bacchanchi, the thriller Silver City, the crime drama The Proposal were released. Significant roles of Houston in the films “21 grams”, “Aviator”, “Devoted gardener”.
