The famous Russian director, actor, creator and permanent head of the legendary Moscow Theater of Drama and Comedy on Taganka, Yuri Petrovich Lyubimov was born in 1917. From an early age, parents instilled in his son a love for literature and theatrical art, the legendary productions of the Moscow Art Theater "Blue Bird", "Lady with Camellia", "Blue Bird" made a great impression on Yuri Lyubimov and largely determined his further choice of life path.
In 1934, Yuri Petrovich Lyubimov entered the theater studio at the Moscow Art Theater-2, where he made his debut in the play "The Prayer for Life". However, two years later, the studio was closed, and the actors had to look for work in other theaters. Yuri Lyubimov was lucky to enter the school at the Yevgeny Vakhtangov Theatre, where he played roles in the productions of Princess Turandot, Much Ado About Nothing, and The Man with a Gun. These roles brought the actor the first great success and became the beginning of a triumphant acting career, which included more than thirty diverse roles in the most popular performances.
When the popular actor was offered to head the Taganka Theatre, Yuri Petrovich Lyubimov agreed without hesitation. It was during the work in this theater that the directorial talent of the great actor was most fully revealed, and the immortal productions “Ten Days That Shook the World”, “Falled and Living”, “The Life of Galileo”, “And the Dawns Are Quiet Here”, “Hamlet”, “Wooden Horses”, “Master and Margarita”, “Crime and Punishment”, “House on the Embankment” became classics of theatrical art. /
