Born April 6, 1925 in the village of Romodanovo Ziminsky district of the Irkutsk region. In 1931, the Savkin family moved to the village of Balagansk, Irkutsk region. In 1932, Ivan went to school, after which in 1942 he went to study at the school of the Federal District of Cheremkovo. In December 1942 Savkin was called up to serve in the army in the city of Nizhneudinsk. In 1943, Ivan was sent to the front. In 1951, Ivan Ivanovich entered the acting faculty of the Shchepkin Theatre School. While studying at the fourth year of the institute, Savkin will make his film debut as Yuras in the film by Aleksandr Zarkhi “Nesterka”.
In 1956 he graduated from the Shchepkin Theatre School. In 1956-57 and in 1960-90 he was an actor of the Theatre-Studio of a film actor.
He embodied on the screen a gallery of ordinary Russian peasants, soldiers, sailors, the hero of the films “Fiery versts” and “Dryapukha”.
He died on May 6, 1996.
