The film “Shorochka” was created based on the story of A. Kuprin “Duel”. Its main character, Lieutenant Georgy Romashov (A. Nikolaev), met among the vulgar regimental ladies "rays of light" - Alexander Nikolaev (E. Finogeeva). In order to be closer to her, Romashov “resigned” Raisa Peterson (L. Gurchenko), who had views on him, and she swore to ruin his life. The vengeful lady turned out to be clumsy, but aptly: notes began to appear in the Nikolaevs’ house with enviable regularity, hinting at the connection of Georgy Alekseevich with the wife of lieutenant Nikolaev (V. Smirnitsky). She was married, and that made it difficult.
It's all about her.
Female calculation
All hopes, love, light in the soul, which so carefully kept Romashov, could turn to dust fatal shot. The only person who could save George was Shurochka. But when the lieutenant suddenly finds her at home, Alexandra Petrovna does not talk about saving her beloved or husband. She insists on a duel. The lieutenant's wife, who has done too much for his career, does not want Nikolaev to look like a weak-willed weakling - this will negate all her efforts. Romashov, who loves her insanely, agrees to everything. Shurochka assures that the main thing is that the fight takes place and maintains the reputation of both. She begged her husband to make sure that George was not injured, and now asks that he also shoot a bullet in the air.
Realizing that after the duel they will never see each other again, Shurochka stays with Romashov for the night. Her mood is unclear, her honesty is questionable. After all, the husband who allegedly promised not to allow murder, in fact, is quite different. Perhaps the wife of Nikolaev at the same time? close

In 1985, a three-part television biopic “Sophia Kovalevskaya” about the life of the first woman in Russia who became a corresponding member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences was released on television.
The great Russian mathematician Sophia Kovalevskaya lived a short but bright life. She was only 40 years old (born in 1850, died in 1891), but during this time there were many dramatic events.
Everything was against her professional choice and desire to go on a scientific path. Mathematics is still considered a “male science”, which requires a special mindset that is not characteristic of a woman. But if today the teacher of mathematics in school can be an object of admiration and respect, then a century and a half ago, society imposed an unspoken taboo on the lessons of the weaker sex in mathematical science. And Sophia Kovalevskaya broke this blockade. For a scientific career, she had to solve not only complex mathematical problems, but also life problems. In this list there is even a sham marriage, which gave the opportunity to get a good education abroad.
The pages of the mother’s biography are leafed through by the daughter of Sofia Kovalevskaya, on whose memoirs the plot of the biographical tape is built. The film contains four episodes from the real history of Sofia Vasilyevna, when she was engaged in commerce with her husband, and then broke with him and became the first female academic in tsarist Russia.
Working on a painting
The dramaturgy of the script by Dmitry Vasiliu and Boris Dobrodeev is based on the attempts of Sophia Kovalevskaya’s daughter to figure out who her mother was outside of science and social activities. The female image of the great scientist in the film was recreated by young Elena Safonova. Her partners in the film were excellent actors Aristarkh Livanov (Maxim Kovalevsky), Yuri Solomin (Prince), Ivar Kalnynsh (Victor Jaclar), Elena Solovey (Anna Jaclar), Alexander Filippenko (Fyodor Dostoevsky), Lembit Ulfsak (Leffler), Algimantas Masiulis (Carl Weierstras) and others.
The film was shot at the film studio “Lenfilm” by the Leningrad director Ayan Shakhmaliyeva (in 1956 she received a diploma of the directorial faculty of VGIK, a graduate of the creative studio of Lev Kuleshov).
The music was written by Isaac Schwartz.
In 1985, the biographical tape of Soviet filmmakers “Sophia Kovalevskaya” was awarded the Main Prize at the International Festival of Multi-Series Television Films in Pianchano Therma (Italy). close

The way home for Aleksandr Rekhviashvili is not charted in the conventional sense. It takes the viewer along some peculiar roads and across a unique landscape: Georgian history and legend, politics and social stratification, religion and ethics. Allusive, stylized and allegorical from beginning to end, his long-banned The Way Home is in part a tribute to Rekhviashvili’s favorite director, Pasolini, especially to The Hawks and the Sparrows (1966). Together with the short film Nutsa (1971) and the widely acclaimed Georgian Chronicle of the 19th Century (1979; SFIFF 1983), The Way Home closes a triptych of films that represent Rekhviashvili’s poetic contemplation of Georgia’s past. It makes extensive use of poems by Bella Akhmadulina (the major female poet of the cultural ‘thaw’ of the ’50s and ’60s and a Georgian by descent), and of sets by Amir Kakabadze. Like other films in the trilogy, The Way Home is stunningly photographed in black-and-white.--Oxymoron close
