Great popularity to the actor came after the film by Gennady Poloka “Republic of Shkid”, where Podshivalov played the gypsy Gromonostsev.
On the set of one of the films, the actor had an accident (a lighting device fell on Podshivalov’s head and a malignant tumor formed at the scene of the impact). After that, the actor became very ill and forever remained disabled. Because of this, Anatoly Nikolaevich began to have changes in appearance, and very soon Podshivalov left the profession of an actor. His last role was in the film In Old Rhythms in 1982.
After suffering an injury, the actor died suddenly on August 10, 1987.
He left his fans a large number of brilliantly played roles. This is the secretary in the film “I’m going to a storm”, and the sheikh in “Night on the 14th parallel”, and the policeman in the film “Ivan Vasilyevich changes profession”, and Budnikov in “Diamonds for the dictatorship of the proletariat”, and the bandit in the film “In old rhythms” and, of course, his role in the film “Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson: Deadly Combat” and all the sequels of the film about Sherlock Holmes (“The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson”, “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson: The Blackmailer” and Dr. Holmes: The Blackmailing Dr.
