Valery Pavlovich was born in 1939 on August 12. He studied in the forge of cinematography, VGIK, where his teacher at the camera faculty was a prominent Soviet cameraman Leonid Kosmatov. The next year after graduation, in 1967, he came to Mosfilm, with which his entire creative destiny was connected.
He began to shoot his first work while still a student. Gaidayev’s “12 chairs” became one of the first paintings on which Shuvalov worked as a production operator. After the success of the film, he had to collaborate with many more famous and popular directors and make such films as “The Tale of how Tsar Peter Arapa married”, “The Tale of Wanderings”, “The Testament of Stalin” and many others.
