He was born on October 24, 1945 in Ivanovo, in a large family of teachers. At the age of four, he first saw his father on the stage of the theater and was amazed. He also wanted to be an actor. He made dolls himself and made productions. He listened to radio broadcasts, memorized stories and read them aloud when he was alone at home. At school he attended a drama club, especially loved solo performances. He was fascinated by the work of A.P. Chekhov and firmly decided to enter the theater institute.
From the first time, Andrei was not taken to the Shchukin School, and only the following year the young Martynov entered the acting faculty of GITIS. He played in the Youth Theatre, drama at Malaya Bronnaya and other theaters in Moscow. The actor is especially good in such performances as: “The Lady’s Visit”, “Not of This World”, “Public Opinion”, “Barbarians”, “The Four of Them”, “Filmed and Designated”, “Veranda in the Woods”, “The Road” and others.
