“Axe porridge”, a bright animated film, was released in 1982 by cinematographer Ivan Ufimtsev with the help of puppet animation. On account of Ufimtsev such famous cartoons as “38 parrots”, “Losharik” and “Hedgehog plus turtle”. The plot is based on a Russian folk tale about a resourceful soldier who is always rescued by army wit.
Returning from the war to his native places, the hero on the way looks at the light to the grandmother Melania, who lives with her husband. The hostess is extremely stingy and, in order not to feed the uninvited guest, lies that there is nothing at all to eat in the house. Not at all embarrassed, the soldier offers to make porridge from an axe. Unable to object, the curious grandmother agrees and gives the soldier an axe for porridge. Thanks to resourcefulness, the soldier soon manages to prepare an extremely tasty porridge.
