Honored Artist of the RSFSR Anatoly Korolkevich was born on January 16, 1901 in Tyumen. After school he entered the Vladivostok Theatre Studio in the workshop of T. M. Petina, which he graduated in 1922. For seven years, fate threw him in different theaters of the country, until in 1929 he finally took root in the Leningrad Theater of Musical Comedy. He worked there until 1960.
Korolkevich is considered one of the most talented masters of musical comedy. He began his theatrical career in distant Vladivostok, where his most successful work was the role of Yashka-Odessite in the play Vsevolod Vishnevsky “The Sea Scattered Wide”. He survived the years of the siege of Leningrad and during the war gave several hundred concerts, raising the morale of the fighters. For military merits, the artist was awarded the Order of the Red Star, and his name is written in golden letters in the history of the blockade. The brilliant comedian masterfully mastered the art of buffoonery, eccentricity, subtle “English” irony. The audience adored him, which can not be said about the leadership of the musical comedy theater. Intrigue and envy long prevented him from receiving the title of Honored Artist. And in 1960, Anatoly was forced to apply for resignation.
Fans of the actor could often hear him on the radio, see him on stage and, of course, in the movies. He fell in love with the audience in the films “First Love”, “Anton Ivanovich Is Angry”, “Musical Story”, “The Adventures of Korzinkina”, “Old Man Hottabych”, “Mr. X”, “Two Lives, “Today a New Attraction”, “Five Days of Rest”,
"An old, old tale" "Heavenly Swallows." In addition, Anatoly Korolkevich is the author of several plays and the book “And the muses were not silent.”
The artist died in the spring of April 11, 1977. He was buried in his native Leningrad at the Volkovo cemetery.
