She was born on November 18, 1900 in Ivanovo-Voznesensk in a family of workers. The years of her youth were spent in the ancient city of Shuya. There, on the stage of the Shui Drama Theatre, the artistic fate of Mazurova began. Then there were theater groups of Kineshma, Ivanov, Yaroslavl, Moscow. During the war in the capital, she played for the defenders of the city, refusing to evacuate to the rear. She was awarded the medal “For valiant work during the Great Patriotic War”. From 1947 to 1951, Ekaterina Yakovlevna worked in Germany in the First Drama Theater of the military unit. In the postwar years, her creative destiny was associated with the Moscow Theater of Drama and Comedy (Theater on Taganka), where she worked for more than 20 years. After two heart attacks, Mazurova left the stage in 1953 and for a long time connected her life with cinema.
The last years of her life, Ekaterina Mazurova devoted to the city of her youth, took a vital part in the creation of local history museums of Shuya and the village of Vasilievsky Shuysky district.
Honored Artist of Russia (1950).
She passed away on October 8, 1995.
